Data Insights and Analytics Lead - Turn Data into Better Decisions!
Turn complex data into clear insights. Help shape the projects that will improve healthcare for our community.
Are you passionate about data, analytics and driving meaningful change? Join the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) Project Management Office (PMO) and play a key role in turning data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and the successful delivery of high-impact healthcare projects.
This is an opportunity to combine analytical expertise, strategic thinking and data storytelling to influence decisions and contribute to better healthcare for southern Adelaide.
About the role:
Reporting to the PMO Manager, you will lead and support the delivery of data analysis, insights and reporting that inform project prioritisation, implementation, performance monitoring and benefits realisation across SALHN.
You will work closely with project teams, sponsors, executive leaders and stakeholders to understand the questions that need answering, explore complex datasets and translate findings into clear insights, recommendations and practical next steps.
A key focus will be supporting benefits realisation throughout the project lifecycle. You will help establish meaningful measures of success, track progress against expected benefits, identify emerging issues and opportunities, and provide the evidence needed to inform decisions during implementation and assess outcomes after projects are completed.
You will also strengthen the PMO’s own decision-making by providing analysis that helps identify areas of focus, understand performance and guide the effective use of project resources.
Key responsibilities include:
- Turn data into actionable insights – undertake in-depth analysis and investigations to identify trends, opportunities, performance issues and areas requiring further attention, helping the PMO and project teams focus on what matters most.
- Enable evidence-based decisions – translate complex data into clear findings, recommendations and compelling narratives that support project prioritisation, strategic planning and executive decision-making.
- Drive benefits realisation and accountability – work with project teams and sponsors to define, measure and track expected benefits, monitor progress throughout implementation and assess the outcomes achieved following project completion.
- Bring data to life – develop meaningful visualisations, reports and presentations that communicate the story behind the numbers and make complex information accessible to different audiences.
- Build analytical partnerships – work collaboratively with project managers, sponsors, clinical and operational teams, and data owners to understand business questions, navigate complex data environments and identify the information needed to support sound decisions.
- Strengthen the PMO’s analytical capability – develop fit-for-purpose approaches to analysis, performance measurement and reporting that improve consistency, transparency and the use of evidence across the project portfolio.
About you:
You are a curious, analytical and commercially minded professional who enjoys investigating complex problems, finding the story within data and helping others understand what the evidence means for their decisions.
You look beyond the numbers to understand the underlying drivers, implications and opportunities. You can move confidently between detailed analysis and the bigger strategic picture, communicating complex findings in a clear, engaging and practical way to audiences ranging from project teams to executive leaders.
You understand that good analytics is not simply about producing reports or dashboards. It is about answering the right questions, challenging assumptions, providing meaningful recommendations and helping people make better decisions.
You will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Information Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Technology or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience managing, analysing and interpreting complex datasets, ideally including health data.
- Strong technical capability across computer systems and applications, including business intelligence tools, spreadsheets, word processing, databases, statistical packages and clinical costing systems.
- Strong data visualisation and storytelling skills, with the ability to present complex information through clear reports, dashboards and presentations tailored to different audiences.
- Experience developing or supporting performance measures, benefits tracking or evaluation approaches to monitor progress, assess outcomes and demonstrate the value of initiatives.
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to understand business needs, explain analytical findings and advise stakeholders and senior leaders on the implications of the evidence.
- Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement and the ability to work across complex information systems, reconcile different data sources and identify opportunities for further investigation.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work through ambiguity and deliver high-quality analysis in a dynamic environment.
This is a single vacancy with two possible appointment classifications: ASO7 or ASO8. The successful applicant will be appointed at the classification appropriate to their qualifications, skills and experience.
