With a focus on delivering culturally appropriate and holistic care, OVAHS provides a wide range of primary health services to meet the unique needs of our community.
We are committed to enhancing access to healthcare, empowering individuals, and fostering a safe and inclusive environment where community members feel respected, supported, and valued. Our passionate and skilled team of healthcare professionals work alongside community members to address both physical and mental health challenges while promoting preventative care, health education, and lifestyle initiatives.
At OVAHS, we believe in working with the community to strengthen and prioritise the social, emotional, and physical health of every individual. As part of a growing and dynamic organisation, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference and be a part of positive, long term change in the community.
About the OpportunityThe Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service now has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Aboriginal Health Practitioner or Registered Nurse to join their team of dedicated health professionals in Kununurra, WA on a fixed term full-time basis.
Are you a passionate and dedicated AHP or RN looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families? This is your chance to join a dynamic team, where you'll be delivering high-quality, culturally safe healthcare.

This is more than just a job-it's an opportunity to be part of a team that values community, culture, and connection. You'll have access to professional development, a supportive work environment, and the chance to make a real difference every day.
Due to the nature of the Aboriginal Health Practitioner role, applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander as a genuine occupational qualification in accordance with section 50 (d) of the Equal Opportunity Act (1984). (AHP position only)

To be considered for this position you must hold current registration with AHPRA, with at least two years post-graduate experience.
Whilst you will be very well supported by the OVAHS team, you will be living and working in a remote part of Australia, therefore you will need to be resilient, with good communication skills and the ability to build trust within the local communities in which OVAHS operates.
Importantly, you will be committed to providing culturally sensitive healthcare and demonstrate an interest in working closely with Aboriginal communities, to understand their health issues and work with them to find solutions.

The Kimberley is one of Australia's true frontier lifestyle regions - a vast, breathtaking landscape of red desert gorges, tropical coastline, ancient rock art, cattle country, and pristine islands, home to some of the oldest continuous living cultures on earth. Life here is genuinely different: warm year-round, unhurried, deeply community-oriented, with a small-town social fabric and a spectacular natural playground on your doorstep - think fishing, boating, camping, four-wheel-driving, and access to landscapes most Australians only ever see on postcards. For clinicians and their families, the region offers a rare combination of professional impact, cultural richness, and a lifestyle that simply isn't available in metropolitan Australia.
