The Team:
Child and Youth Mental Health Services Aim:
We are seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist with extensive knowledge, understanding and experience in forensic mental health issues and risks, specifically in relation to young people, and their families/carers, presenting with complex mental health concerns and/or complex behaviours of concern. You will have a proven ability to conduct high level clinical assessments, including the development of comprehensive management plans and completion of court reports.
This new position has been developed as a recommendation from the recent Commission of Inquiry Report (Tasmania) to support young people in youth detention who require trauma-informed psychological intervention. The Senior Clinical Psychologist will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach and working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
As part of CYMHS Reform, clinical services in Tasmania are under development with many exciting professional, developmental and research opportunities available.
This position is based in Launceston in the new Divert and Connect Program which is currently in the early stages of development. This role will provide you with the opportunity to assist in implementing new programs in Northern Tasmania, working collaboratively with other government and non-government services. Travel to Ashley Youth Detention Centre will be required as part of this role.
The Role
- Provide comprehensive evidence-based clinical assessment, treatment, and assertive case management service, including the development and implementation of specialist treatment programs and group programs, and the provision of formal psychological reports as required.
- Provide high quality, timely evidence based written court assessment reports for young people appearing in Tasmanian Courts in relation to offences.
- Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team from a case management framework, including outreach and case management reviews, to ensure continuity of care and best practice outcomes for young people detained in youth detention.
You will need
- A minimum of five years post graduate experience, with extensive knowledge, understanding and experience of forensic mental health issues and risks in relation to young people and their families/carers presenting with complex mental health concerns and/or complex behaviours of concern with a proven ability to conduct high level clinical assessments including demonstrated problem solving, advanced therapeutic interventions and the development of comprehensive management plans and court reports.
- Proven high level interpersonal skills including oral and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and decision making, together with the ability to develop comprehensive oral and written reports.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of effective liaison and consultation with other services and agencies in the context of providing specialised mental health assessment, advice, and training.

The OpportunityAn exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, dynamic and skilled Grade 1 or Grade 2 Dietitian to join a busy clinical department at Alfred Care Group. About the opportunitiesSouth East Regional Hospital (SERH) is a Level 4 Paediatric Unit with 6 paediatric inpatient beds plus 4 short stay beds. The service is currently the receiving hospital for children requiring admission across the Coastal Network. The service supports a well staffed and experienced emergency department with approximately 4000 paediatric emergency presentations annually at South East Regional Hospital. The service provides telehealth consultation and support to emergency departments at other hospitals across the Coastal Network who see a further 4000 paediatric emergency presentations annually. The service at South East Regional Hospital has a 2 bed special care nursery supporting a Level 3 maternity service withapproximately 300 births per year.
Eurobodalla Regional Hospital (ERH) will be opening in March 2027. This is a brand new hospital with a new paediatric service. The service is planned to grow into a Level 4 Paediatric Unit with a Level 2 Special Care Nursery supporting a Level 3 Maternity Service with approximately 300 births per year. We are looking for a leader to establish and develop the new paediatric service at ERH.
In a true networked model the services provide regular specialist paediatric outpatient clinics locally in Bega and Moruya and through outreach clinics at multiple sites on the coast and inland areas within Southern NSW LHD. SERH and ERH aretraining sites for medical students in paediatric medicine from Australian National University. SERH is accredited with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians for Advanced Training in Paediatrics & Child Health (rural paediatrics/community & developmental paediatrics) and with ACRRM and RACGP for advanced skills training (AST) in paediatrics. Upskilling of staff across the Coastal Network in the area of Paediatric and Neonatal medicine is a strategic focus. There is a strong emphasis on teaching with an Education and Simulation Centre at South East Regional Hospital and regular outreach teaching programs for General Practitioners and Nursing/Midwifery at hospitals and primary care centres across the coastal network.

- Demonstrated ability to use clinical coaching principles to support professional and clinical development of novice nurses and midwives.

- Westmead MFM service is the largest tertiary referral center in the state of NSW and has opportunities for fetal procedures as well as management and follow through of patients with complex fetal anomalies referred for ongoing care that will be delivered at Westmead Hospital and subsequently transferred to Children's Hospital.
- The hospital also provides care to many complex maternal medical conditions in pregnancy through dedicated antenatal clinics.
- There is close liaison with maternal medicine services providing opportunity to learn from renal, hematology, cardiology and various other services who work as part of an MDT Team.
- The role provides opportunity to discuss in depth outcomes on fetal anomalies in monthly surgical meetings with pediatric surgeons.
- Fortnightly genetics sessions to discuss management of genetic conditions, fetal syndromes with our expert geneticists.
- Access to training and performing over 150 fetal diagnostic procedures amniocentesis, chorionic villous sampling, fetal transfusion, amnioreduction, fetal cavity aspiration and shunt placement.
- Access to statewide perinatal pathology unit at Westmead Children's Hospital.
- There is ongoing opportunity of new research on various MFM topics with support of onsite statistician and research staff dedicated to MFM services.

The department of O&G provides an orientation manual to all medical staff working in the department. For Hospital Orientation most hospital programs include similar features. Included are examples of topics covered in orientation at each hospital. Mater's Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager to join the team. This is a permanent, part-time position working 36 hours per week based at South Brisbane.
The Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) is a specialised mental health team providing mental health consultation, liaison, advice and brief interventions to adult patients of the general hospital who are experiencing a psychiatric disorder, illness or psychological distress.
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) will provide clinical and operational leadership to the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service, while also holding professional line management responsibilities for nursing staff across the Mental health services, Clarence Street, Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane (MAYAHCB) and Amanda Flynn Clinic.
Salary range: $75.40 - $81.09 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doingYou will provide exceptional nursing management and be responsible for the clinical, resource management, education, research and material accountabilities of nursing within the department. The NUM will form part of the leadership team and work closely with the Psychiatrist of the service.
As the NUM, you will lead service in the development and operation management of services which include Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) and other mental health services within Mater Health. You will also provide professional leadership and clinical supervision to nurses working in other multidisciplinary teams, including Mater Clarence Street and Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane (MYAHCB).
Other duties and responsibilities include:- Caring for and leading a team of professionals
- Communication and coordination of patient care
- Engagement with stakeholders in other departments to ensure the highest quality patient care, that services are efficient, that patient safety is optimized, and to resolve barriers to patient flow.
- Team management, including performance management and compliance with Human Resources processes
- Delivery of work against relevant timeframes
- Leave backfill for Mater Hospital Springfield CLPS, where required
To be considered for this position, you must have a current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions) and tertiary qualification in specialty, health administration or management, clinical leadership, budget management and finance (or working towards).
The ideal candidate will also have:- Previous experience in a nursing leadership position will be highly regarded
- Advanced clinical competency underpinned by a thorough understanding of the Mental Health Act and least-restrictive practice.
- Minimum of five years full time experience in mental health nursing
- Experience working in public and private sector is desirable
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and provide mentorship to develop your team
- High level of communication (written and verbal) and the ability to liaise with your team as an effective senior leader
- An understanding of key financial metrics related to clinical cost-centre reporting, demonstrated application of risk management and quality improvement principles in a clinical environment, and an understanding of human resource management practices.
