Position details
The Team
THS Pathology-LGH provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania. We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania. THS Pathology aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team at THS Pathology comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.
The Role
The role is being established to support Point‑of‑Care Testing (POCT) services at LGH and primary health care centres across the northern region of Tasmania. It will support the implementation of POCT governance throughout the region and will require travel, although it will be primarily based at LGH. The position will work in close coordination with multidisciplinary teams across pathology and broader clinical services, and will serve as the primary point of contact for all POCT matters within the region.
You will need
- Demonstrated post‑qualification experience as a medical scientist, with at least two years experience in establishing, testing and supporting the use of Point of Care Testing (POCT) devices within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
- Demonstrated organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet operational requirements.
- A working knowledge of medical laboratory accreditation processes, quality assurance and quality control principles, NPAAC requirements relevant for the supervision of medical laboratories, including requirements for the introduction of new diagnostic methodologies.

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary
$117,272 to $126,182 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance withAllied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement.
Salary Packaging
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1200 per annum, paid on a fortnightly, pro rata basis.
Benefits available to eligible candidates
- Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
- Professional development and accelerated pathways.
- A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution.
- Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, The Australian Society for Microbiology, Human Genetics Society of Australasia or the Australian Society of Cytology
- Where there is no relevant professional body, the essential qualification must be met

- Membership/Fellowship awarded by a recognised professional body
- Experience of working with Point of care devices in a hospital setting

The Team
Working within the Royal Hobart Hospital Pharmacy’s Compounding & Cancer Services unit, the Clinical Trials & Specialised Drugs team provide expert care to inpatients and outpatients of the RHH across haematology, oncology, paediatrics and other clinical areas.
The Role
Under supervision of the Team Leader – Compounding & Cancer Care Services and the Lead Pharmacist - Compounding & Cancer Care Services, develop and contribute to a safe and efficient compounding service to inpatients and outpatients of the Department of Health (DoH). Oversee the work of team members whose work includes the specialist areas of extemporaneous, aseptic and cytotoxic compounding, including undertaking training, professional supervision, and support regarding other pharmacy staff
You will need
- Experience in manufacture of complex parenteral or extemporaneous products and/or experience in clinical application of these products.
- Possession of, or working towards, a postgraduate qualification in relevant area.
- Current Driver’s Licence

Position details
The Team:
The Launceston General Hospital is the principal referral hospital in the region for more than a quarter of a million people.
The Maternity Services is a level 5 service providing care for low, moderate, and high complexity mothers and babies over 32 weeks gestation. This service is multidisciplinary service with the capacity to manage all unexpected pregnancy and neonatal emergency presentations.
Womens and Childrens Services offers free Clinical Supervision for nurses and midwives and a supportive professional development culture.
You will need:
Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife.
Current Working with Vulnerable People Check.
Holds, or is working towards, relevant post-graduate qualifications.
Demonstrated advanced level knowledge, skills and clinical experience in midwifery.
Ability to apply teaching and learning strategies in the clinical setting.
Sound knowledge of contemporary education, health and professional development issues, National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and their impact on the knowledge and skill requirements of the nursing/midwifery workforce.
The Role:
The Clinical Midwifery Educator (CME) facilitates and supports the education and development of the midwifery workforce, including midwifery students, postgraduate, and all sets of learners.
The CME is part of the Womens and Childrens Services leadership team, participating in Quality Improvement activities, Policy/Protocol development and review, and progressing the goals and actions within the Operational Plan.

Salary:

The Education Hub at Sydney Children's Hospital network are seeking a Temporary 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) Staff Specialist to join their team.
What you'll be doing
The Staff Specialist (Paediatrician) provides senior clinical, academic and educational leadership within the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network Education Hub. The position supports the development and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based paediatric education that strengthens the capability of health professionals and contributes to improved health outcomes for children and young people across New South Wales.
The principal responsibility of the position is to manage and deliver the statewide ADHD GP Endorsed Prescriber Education Program. The program prepares eligible general practitioners to undertake an expanded role in the assessment, diagnosis and management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, including prescribing within the applicable NSW legislative, regulatory and clinical framework.
The Staff Specialist will oversee delivery to approximately 300 GPs each semester through mandatory online learning, six compulsory Community of Practice sessions delivered across approximately 20 groups, monthly live webinars, and access to additional education, resources and support.
The position will also lead or contribute to the development and delivery of other statewide paediatric education initiatives as opportunities arise and as agreed with the Associate Director, SCHN Education Hub. This may include translating emerging health-system priorities into scalable education programs, developing partnerships with NSW Health and other stakeholders, and providing clinical and academic leadership from program design through to implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement.
The Staff Specialist will assist with the ongoing development and delivery of the Graduate Diploma in Child Health and associated online learning programs. This includes contributing to curriculum review, content development, teaching, assessment, academic quality assurance, faculty support and the maintenance of contemporary, clinically relevant learning resources.
The position is primarily an education and workforce-capability role rather than a direct clinical service. Any separate clinical duties would require formal approval, credentialing and a defined scope of clinical practice.
Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.
Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

The VirtualKIDS department are looking for a Temporary Staff Specialist to join their team at 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) for a 12 month contract. This position is based within the Sydney Children's Hospital Network with regular travel to regional areas as per the position description.
The VirtualKIDS Staff Specialist Paediatrician (Rural and Regional Specialist Support) will work within Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) virtualKIDS to provide specialist paediatric outreach, virtual care and clinical capability support to designated regional and rural hospitals across NSW, including sites such as Goulburn Base Hospital.
The role will deliver an integrated model of care combining regular face-to-face outreach with ongoing virtual specialist support. The Staff Specialist will undertake a minimum continuous period of one week on site each month at the participating rural or regional hospital and contribute to the local paediatric service, including inpatient care, emergency consultation, outpatient activity, clinical handover and participation in the local paediatric on-call roster. These duties will be undertaken within the Staff Specialist’s approved scope of practice and in accordance with agreed credentialing, rostering and clinical governance arrangements. For the remainder of each month, the Staff Specialist will ordinarily be based at SCHN and provide scheduled and responsive virtual support to the regional site. This may include specialist consultation for children presenting to the acute review clinic, inpatient, outpatient and community services; virtual ward rounds and clinics; post-discharge review; advice regarding investigation, treatment and transfer; and coordination with SCHN subspecialty, retrieval and other tertiary services.
Additionally, the purpose of the position is to strengthen local paediatric capability and support the development of a sustainable regional workforce. The Staff Specialist will work collaboratively with local paediatricians, junior medical officers, nursing staff, allied health professionals and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide education, clinical supervision, case-based learning and support for locally relevant clinical pathways. The role will promote shared decision-making, clear clinical accountability and effective communication between SCHN and the participating Local Health District.

Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a dedicated Visiting Medical Officer to join our team at Concord Repatriation General Hospital
The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Gastroenterology (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Gastroenterology Department and Hospital as required.
This position is required to provide Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Inflammatory Bowel Disease consultant services, including procedural Endoscopic services (including emergency endoscopic interventions) and intestinal ultrasound in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, within Concord Repatriation General Hospital.
The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
The successful applicant will be a current registered Medical practitioner, registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with recognised qualifications in Gastroenterology and/or other equivalent specialist recognition, with demonstrated experience and accreditation in Inflammatory Bowel Disease management and research.
Position is currently available. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from date of application, may be considered.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.

There is also a dedicated office for the Orthopaedic registrars as well as a shared JMO lounge. Rural unaccredited trainees will also be eligible to apply for scholarships through HETI to help with attending courses and conferences. Fully furnished shared accommodation is usually provided to registrars by the hospital.
What you'll be doing
The Orthopaedic Unaccredited Trainee is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Orthopaedic inpatients, providing an on-call service for SERH plus 3 surrounding hospitals within the health district. There is a good mix of elective and emergency operating with approximately 1200 operations performed annually. The unaccredited trainee will be responsible for the supervision the resident medical officer as well as rotating medical students from the ANU Medical School.
The Orthopaedic Department is staffed by 3 unaccredited trainee registrars and 1 AOA accredited trainee registrar with a regular 1 in 4 on-call rosters with occasional 1 in 3 on-calls during periods of leave. The well-supported unit allows unaccredited trainees to gain a well-rounded experience in Orthopaedics. The job allows registrars to rotate daily through being on-call, managing acute orthopaedic emergencies, elective and emergency operating lists and outpatient clinics. There are a wide range of educational activities on offer including regular journal clubs, weekly X-ray meetings, teaching, quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings and the opportunity to take on research projects. This position would suit both an experienced registrar looking to hone their operative skills with a view to apply for the AOA Training Program or a junior registrar looking for a well-balanced introduction into Orthopaedic Surgery.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Demonstrated ability to complete rotations as allocated and required
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services
- Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment

- At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent)

Your part in The Wesley Hospital team
As the Lead Administration Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the team in our Emergency Centre department, providing a tailored service through administrative support, whilst providing an exceptional level of customer service.
Our Emergency Centre Receptionists provide an efficient, effective, professional and client focused administration support in our Emergency Departments and participate in a 24/7 roster system. They facilitate service delivery and administration support to our Medical Officers, Nursing, Allied Health staff and Patients. A key focus of the role is to implement and maintain comprehensible processes that enable the timely and accurate patient admission to the Emergency Departments. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring that administrative procedures are followed efficiently. This role is also responsible for the quality of the preadmission and admission for patients admitting from the Emergency Centre to the hospital – this includes but not limited to Insured, Self-Funded, WorkCover, Third Party and Maternity patients.

- The hospital will feature:
- 96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six-bed critical care/high dependency unit.
- 33-bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit

The Position
- Interact with all patients, customers and caregivers in a positive, professional and respectful manner.
- Facilitate all aspects of the patient pre-admission episode including the following:
- Collation of all appropriate paperwork.
- Complete entry of all relevant patient booking data in an accurate and concise manner
- Process patient admissions via the portal or via other means
- Seek information for the completion of the Patient Fee Estimate as required.
- Complete check eligibilities for all patients who are using private health insurance.
- Request approvals for Workers Comp, TAC, MVIT and insurance companies as required.
- Produce all patient labels and compile admission documents verifying accuracy and completeness of all documentation,
- Process patient payments in accordance with procedures.
- Prioritise and coordinate workload to facilitate the processing of acute admissions with shorter notice periods.
- Facilitate all aspects of booking cancellations.
- Facilitate all aspects of the clerical admission of patients on presentation to hospital
- Perform daily bank duties as required
- Communicate any area of impact to the relevant operational area within the hospital.
- Ensure appropriate documentation is allocated to the relevant operational area in a timely manner.
- Operate the switchboard and paging system.
- Work in accordance with target outcomes for the processing of bookings, patient registrations and eligibilities.

Throughout your training, you will actively participate in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, including teaching, case reviews and self-directed learning. About the Role
Reporting to the Lead WHS Manager – Victoria, you'll partner with operational leaders to support the ongoing implementation of St Vincent's Work Health & Safety Management System while ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and best practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with managers and leaders to provide timely, practical WHS advice and support
- Building strong relationships that positively influence workplace safety culture
- Supporting implementation and continuous improvement of the St Vincent's WHS Management System
- Conducting workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities
- Identifying hazards and opportunities to strengthen risk controls
- Leading or supporting workplace incident investigations and implementing preventative actions
- Analysing incident, injury and hazard trends to proactively reduce workplace risks
- Preparing services for internal, external and accreditation audits
- Supporting Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and WHS Committees
- Developing risk assessments, safe work instructions and other WHS documentation

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS 2) position is part of the Drug and Alcohol Clinical services, Illawarra Shoalhaven local health district, who provides expert clinical care and advice to clients with complex health care needs relating to substance misuse and abuse. The Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 is a clinical expert who, through leadership facilitates excellence in research based clinical practice, education, research and professional leadership.
This position is responsible for the provision of Drug and Alcohol consultation and liaison services across Illawarra hospitals and mental health facilities. In addition this position provides the provision of education to other health care workers and educators in the community and hospital setting in relation to the management of substances.
The CNS 2 is responsible for the provision of high level person centred, evidence-based clinical nursing care and is expected to embrace and lead a practice development philosophy in the delivery of that care.
This outcome will be achieved thorough undertaking comprehensive nursing assessments, referral, providing expert consultation and educational support to staff, patients and family. This position will undertake comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments, advice on the management of intoxication and withdrawal status, assessment and management of patients requesting to commence on opioid substitution therapies. Brief interventions including harm minimisation strategies and discharge planning.
The CNS 2 will be responsible for evaluation and supervision in the provision of complex nursing care in the Drug and Alcohol area of practice.
The CNS 2 will demonstrate the ability to act as a professional role model, delivering a high level capacity for client advocacy and cost benefit practice while demonstrating the ability to act as a change agent, provide effective clinical leadership and the ability to practice as an autonomous professional with the capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
The CNS 2 will assist in the provision of supervision and support for less experienced clinicians and will maintain their professional accountability and development in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia’s Standards of Practice and models the CORE values.
