The Team

The Sexual Health Services Tasmania is a collaborative state-wide service with clinics in Hobart, Launceston, and an outreach clinic in Devonport. The service is staffed by consultant sexual health physicians, sexual health registrar, nurse practitioner, nurses, a clinical psychologist and administrative staff. The Statewide Sexual Health Service provides people with the opportunity to enhance their sexual health and well-being with a broad scope of practice. We also provide education and guidance to clinicians across the state for all matters pertaining sexual health.

The Role

The clinical services delivered include providing sexual health checks, STI diagnosis and treatment, PrEP, as well as the care and management of HIV, treatment and diagnosis and cure of Hepatitis C. We provide a multidisciplinary gender affirming care service including information, support and access to medical transition. Our service also provides assessment and treatment of genital dermatology conditions, treatment and management of sexual discomfort, pain and sexual dysfunction.

The duties include delivery of outpatient services in Sexual Health Service in both the North and South of the state which will require overnight stays on a regular basis. Duties will also include regular participation in undergraduate and post graduate educational activities as directed by the Director of Sexual Health, involvement in public health matters relating to sexual health, participation in research and multidisciplinary care management as required.

The Team

New Norfolk District Hospital (NNDH) is a 14-bed facility situated 40 kms from Hobart. The NNDH model is of a regional and tertiary public hospital partnership, with a combination of local patients admitted by their GP and out of area patients admitted from the Royal Hobart and Private Hospitals with the support of a Nurse Practitioner.

The NNDH provides a highly skilled Allied Health Care Team to ensure a comprehensive plan of care is implemented whilst in care. Nursing care is available for inpatients 24 hours a day and provide a patient centred approach to ensure all your healthcare needs are met.

The Role

The Nurse Unit Manager works autonomously at ward level under the general direction of the Director of Nursing to provide direction and leadership at New Norfolk District Hospital nursing and care staff.

• Lead and coordinate the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred nursing care across medical, palliative and geriatric services.
• Provide direction, supervision and support to nursing and care staff, promoting professional development, accountability and a positive workplace culture.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the inpatient ward, ensuring effective staffing, resource allocation and service delivery within budget.
• Drive continuous quality improvement, clinical governance, risk management and compliance with healthcare standards and best practice.
• Monitor and evaluate ward activity, clinical outcomes and staff performance to ensure service objectives are achieved.
• Work collaboratively with medical practitioners, allied health professionals and other healthcare teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
• Promote a safe working environment by implementing workplace safety initiatives, managing risks and supporting staff wellbeing.

You will need

• Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop nursing and care teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

The Team Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. Our Aged Care Department at the Royal Hobart Hospital has 106 inpatient beds for acute older persons’ care across 3 sites in central Hobart – 60 older persons’ acute care beds, 36 subacute beds (Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM)), plus 10 beds for patients with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia requiring slow stream rehabilitation; including an additional 12 bed GEM at Home service. There is strategic vision for an Older Person’s Emergency Department geriatrician role. The Aged Care specialists provide multiple services to inpatients (including a consultative service and shared care orthogeriatrics model of 10-20 patients) and outpatients, as well as provide a robust educational program. Clinics include memory, falls and balance and movement disorders. All clinics involve Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and are supported by a dedicated aged care clinic nurse and closely associated with the Community Rehabilitation Unit which is co-located on the site. Clinics include a mix of face-to-face and telehealth (video/telephone) consultations. There is also the option to participate in regional TAZREACH Outreach clinics. There are opportunities to pursue research interests as part of this role. The department provides a strong education program to undergraduates, allied health, nursing and postgraduates. There is strong collegiality, stability, and energy within the group of 17 geriatricians. The Aged Care Department has an establishment of 9 FTE registrar positions which includes up to 4 advanced trainees in geriatrics, with the remainder being registrars in Geriatric Medicine. These positions are supported by 6 interns in acute geriatrics and 1 intern in orthogeriatrics; and 6 resident medical officers across the subacute services.

The Role The successful applicant will provide services in Geriatric Medicine including diagnosis, treatment, and care for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role also includes participation in an after-hours roster and on-call service, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs, and continuous quality improvement activities.

The Team

The Reception and Administrative Officer will ensure the efficient coordination and administration of the South Sexual Health Service (SSHS) clinic. This includes:

• Managing and coordinating patient appointments for the South clinic, and at times, the North and Northwest clinics.
• Providing high level administrative and clerical support functions to all staff.
• Ensure the efficient flow of information to and from the office, along with the coordination of administrative processes.
• Maintaining confidentiality and discretion when performing receptionist and clerical duties at all times.
• Working in accordance with all SSHS and the Department’s established policies, procedures and guidelines

You will need

• Demonstrated high level skills and experience in contemporary office administration practices, including the ability to provide confidential, high-quality administrative support.
• Sound knowledge of, and experience in, the use of a broad range of software packages and information systems, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases, with the ability to quickly become adept in the use of new systems as required.
• Well-developed interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively negotiate and liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders within a health service environment.

Details of appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$76,849 to $82,996 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
