Are you an experienced nursing leader ready to make a meaningful difference for people impacted by sexual assault and domestic and family violence?
This is an exciting opportunity to join Hunter New England Local Health District as a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3, providing expert clinical leadership, professional consultancy and strategic direction across Sexual Assault and Domestic and Family Violence (SADFV) services.
You will play a key role in strengthening forensic nursing practice across the district, supporting highly skilled teams and contributing to the delivery of trauma-informed, person-centred and culturally safe care.
Working alongside medical leaders, service managers and multidisciplinary teams, you will have the opportunity to influence service development, clinical governance, workforce capability and best-practice care.
Make an impact through leadership and clinical expertise
In this senior leadership role, you will combine your clinical expertise with your ability to mentor, influence and inspire others. Together, we are committed to delivering responsive, accessible and culturally respectful services for all communities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing professional nursing leadership across SADFV services
- Supporting and developing the forensic nursing workforce through education, mentoring, supervision and clinical support
- Leading the implementation and ongoing development of best-practice medical forensic programs and services
- Collaborating with medical leaders and service managers to strengthen clinical governance, service planning and standards of practice
- Promoting evidence-based, trauma and violence informed, culturally safe care that places the needs of victim-survivors at the centre of service delivery
- Maintain your clinical expertise through participation in the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner roster, providing integrated medical and forensic responses to adolescents and adults following recent sexual assault.
We are looking for a leader who brings
- Advanced clinical expertise, strong professional judgement and demonstrated leadership capability.
- A genuine commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred and culturally safe care.
- A passion for workforce development, education, mentoring and clinical practice improvement.
- The confidence to influence practice and build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- The ability to participate in an on-call roster of up to three times per month and a willingness to travel occasionally.
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years full-time equivalent post registration nursing experience, with at least 5 years full-time equivalent experience working in a relevant speciality (e.g. emergency medicine, sexual assault, women's health, forensic nursing, reproductive and sexual health, gynaecology and/or midwifery).
- Completed, or be studying towards completion of Education Centre Against Violence training modules in Forensic Photography; and Provide a Medical and Forensic Response to Domestic and Family or equivalent courses.
- Completed the NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence Graduate Certificate in the Medical and Forensic Management of Adult Sexual Assault (or equivalent) and have completed at least three supervised medical and forensic consultations on a patient reporting recent sexual assault
- Applicants must be female - under Section 31 (2) (h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

About the role
As a member of the Mental Health Casual Pool, you will:
- Deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed, and person-centred care to people living with mental illness across various stages of their recovery journey
- Use strong communication and empathy to engage effectively with consumers, families, and carers
- Adapt your nursing practice to different settings and specialties, with care needs varying across inpatient and community environments
- Support consumers with complex medical needs, health promotion, relapse prevention, and recovery-focused care
- Access 8- or 10-hour shifts, available 7 days a week, depending on service requirements
- Choose shifts across the LHD at your discretion—work close to home or explore opportunities further afield
- Participate in community outreach roles where required, noting that some positions (particularly in rural areas) involve travel
About you
We are seeking nurses who:
- Are person-centred and value recovery-oriented mental health care

Dialysis orientation includes two weeks of dedicated training at either Maitland or John Hunter Hospital Dialysis Units alongside the Dialysis Educator, followed by supported shifts and orientation within the Muswellbrook service. Ongoing support is provided by the Dialysis Clinical Nurse Educator, Muswellbrook Clinical Nurse Educator team and Clinical Nurse Manager. For nurses working within the Infusion Unit, orientation includes two weeks at Tamworth Oncology Unit with the District Cancer Services Educator, followed by local orientation and ongoing support from our Oncology Educator. Additional support is available through the Cancer Care Coordinator, Muswellbrook Clinical Nurse Manager and the broader Cancer Services team. As a rural facility, Muswellbrook Hospital also benefits from access to medical officer support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring a collaborative and well-supported clinical environment.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred care to patients receiving haemodialysis and infusion therapies while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in our perioperative team, you will play an important role in delivering safe, compassionate and patient-centred care. You will:
- Provide high-quality nursing care within the perioperative environment.

- Post-graduate clinical experience in operating theatre or procedural unit nursing within an acute hospital setting.

Our perioperative service offers a varied roster, including 6, 8 and 10-hour shifts, afternoon shifts and 10-hour night shifts. - Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions.
