The Team

The Public Health – Improvement (Strategy and Policy) team within Population Health is responsible for leading and supporting the delivery of major whole-of-government commitments in preventive and population health. This includes Tasmania’s state 20-year preventive health strategy, state tobacco action plan, and relevant actions under the Long-Term Plan for Healthcare in Tasmania 2040.

The Role

The role provides statewide lead project management for allocated streams of work within the team’s broader program, with a particular focus on the state's 20-year preventive health strategy. The role supports the planning, coordination, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of statewide population health priorities, and provides team management and guidance across policy, planning, project and program delivery activities.

In this role, you will,

• Lead policy and strategic planning activities, including drafting, implementing and reviewing statewide population health policies, strategies, plans and legislative or regulatory initiatives.
• Apply contemporary project and program management approaches to lead the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of population health initiatives, projects and government commitments across the team’s program of work.
• Lead the gathering, analysis and application of evidence, data and relevant contextual information to support evidence-informed population health policy, planning, program design and decision-making.

You will need

• Demonstrated experience and expertise in project management skills, including the ability to lead and deliver projects or initiatives within agreed priorities, timelines, resources, governance arrangements and reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated experience and expertise in policy and strategic planning skills, including supporting the development, implementation and review of policies, legislation, strategies and plans in a government, population health or related setting.
• Demonstrated high level skills in gathering, analysing and interpreting evidence, data and contextual information to support policy advice, planning, program design, implementation and decision-making.

The Team

The Department of Health seeks a highly motivated and experienced Radiation Therapist for this key leadership position at the WP Holman Clinic, Hobart, Tasmania. The Clinic has 2 Varian linear accelerators, Canon CT simulator, Eclipse planning system and a Gulmay superficial x-ray unit. Radiation Therapy techniques currently in use at the WP Holman Clinic include IGRT, VMAT, DIBH, SBRT & SRT.

The Holman Clinic is part of the Cancer and Blood Services stream at the Royal Hobart Hospital, which provides an integrated radiation therapy, medical oncology and haematological service to Southern Tasmania.

The Role

The Senior Radiation Therapist will act as Team Leader in charge of a radiation therapy treatment unit or planning section.

They will utilise broad knowledge and advanced skills to resolve novel and complex problems in the radiation therapy

treatment and planning areas.

You will need

• Extensive experience and demonstrated knowledge and skill relating to all areas of contemporary Radiation Oncology
• Ability to work constructively as a team leader with the capacity to direct, guide and support staff.

The Team

Peacock Centre is a contemporary mental health service, comprising of a twelve bed clinical inpatient unit (Peacock House) and a peer led Intergration Hub and Safe Haven, with care offered in a warm, welcoming environment. These services work closely together to provide least restrictive care for people experiencing suicidal distress and other mental health concerns and diagnoses as well as focussing on hospital avoidance principles. The successful incumbent must be able to work in a clinical environment but also be able to lead a peer led model of care. Referrals for the inpatient unit come from a number of different sources, and the unit must be able to respond appropriately in timely way; whilst the Safe Haven and the Integration Hubs are a "walk-in" environment with no referral required.

Peacock Centre, which is located in a heritage listed building, is an important part of Mental Health Services in Southern Tasmania. It is located in the centre of beautiful North Hobart, five minutes away from the centre of Hobart. There is ample parking (with a dedicated parking spot for the Manager). This role is expected to take part in an out of hours on call roster.

Statewide Mental Health Services | Tasmanian Department of Health

The Role

The role provides clinical oversight of the three services located in Peacock Centre (Peacock House, the Integration Hub and the Safe Haven). It also provides oversight of the fiscal and human resources that are required to run the Centre. The role must ensure that Peacock Centre is aligned within the model of care for the service, as well as ensuring it works collegially with other mental health services to ensure optimal operation and outcomes for consumers.

You will need

• Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary evidence based mental health service provision and extensive post-graduate clinical service delivery experience in the context of a multidisciplinary mental health team.
• Significant management experience in a community mental health setting and the capacity to provide leadership and vision to instil the principles and goals of Tasmanian Mental Health Reform Program and key documents specific to the Peacock Centre site.
• An understanding of, and capacity to implement, change management processes and strategies to assist in the initial establishment and the ongoing development and operation of the Acute Treatment Unit, Safe Haven, Integrated Hub and Recovery College Operational Service Models and related documentation.

The North West Perinatal Community Mental Health Service based in the Burnie region is a case management service that provides expert perinatal mental health care including case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management within the community setting.

The Role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant – Perinatal Mental Health (Clinical Nurse Consultant) is a member of the multidisciplinary Perinatal Mental Health Team based in Adult Community Mental Health Services (ACMHS). As a senior member of the perinatal service, the Clinical Nurse Consultant will:

• Assist in providing specialist care to women, infants and their families within their designated region identified as at risk of, or having, moderate to severe perinatal mental health disorders, as part of a Tasmanian multidisciplinary perinatal mental health team.
• Provide specialist mental health assessment and clinical management to women in the perinatal period to promote positive maternal mental health and enhance the parent-infant relationship.

You will need:

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience within Mental Health Services, with a demonstrated understanding of Perinatal and Infant Mental Health clinical practice.
• Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience of the range of psychiatric disorders which may occur in the perinatal period, and appropriate treatments.

The Role

• The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Mental Health Acute Paediatric Unit, will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering person centred, recovery orientated and trauma informed care, in accordance with the National Standards for Mental Health Services, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

• The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:

• Works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager and the Paediatric Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care on a designated shift, based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.

You will need to

• Deliver acute inpatient-based mental health care coordination to paediatric consumers of the service, which includes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, active, therapeutic engagement, monitoring and review of mental state and response to treatments, ongoing psychotherapeutic work using arrange of modalities and techniques, within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), with focus collaboration with family and carers and trauma informed care.

• Provide a high level of clinical knowledge and skill to ensure clinical standards and policies and procedures are met to promote a consumer-focused model of care, according to best practice principles.

• Assist the Nurse Unit Manager and the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with the management and coordination of resources as required.

Position details

The Team

The CNC Patient Flow sits within the Integrated Operations Centre as a part of the Patient Flow Team at the Launceston General Hospital and works collaboratively to ensure the right person receives the right care in the most appropriate setting.

The Role

The CNC provides expert advice and leadership within an interdisciplinary team providing pathway development, patient assessment, care coordination and implementation of planned transfer of care to District Hospitals and Private Hospitals from within the clinical settings of the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) to enable care needs to be met in the most appropriate environment. This is a shift working position working day shifts 7 days a week.

You will need

• Provide an advanced level of professional clinical expertise in care management for the patient transferring care in both the acute and Primary Health settings.
• Provide advice and support to other members of the interdisciplinary teams; to ensure continuity of care for clients with complex care coordination needs.
• Support the Nursing Director Integrated Operations Cantre and the interdisciplinary team in the promotion of the Patient Flow Unit Team, including developing and maintaining strong communication links with the Health Care Professionals within the Agency and other key groups and consumers regarding supporting the needs of clients, their families and carers.

Details of appointment

Permanent part time, shift worker position, working up to 40 hours per fortnight, 31 December 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type (RN)

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

• Holds or is working towards a relevant post graduate tertiary qualification
• Current Driver’s Licence.
