About the role

As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide meaningful support to individuals living with mental illness through shared lived experience and practical guidance. This role focuses on empowering clients to discover their strengths, build independence and achieve positive outcomes through person centred care.

The successful candidate will have lived experience of mental health challenges and experience working with people who have complex needs including mental health challenges in order to effectively support individuals and work towards their goals.

This is a permanent part time opportunity of approximately 3 days per week (or 0.6 FTE) based in Fremantle. Some travel to areas surrounding Fremantle may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Draw on lived experience to engage with individuals accessing LWB Mental Health Services
• Support individuals to understand their needs, identify challenges and areas of improvement
• Assist individuals to articulate, implement and work towards goals in their support plans
• Share relevant lived experience insights when appropriate and within role scope
• Work as part of the team to support program activities and achievement of individuals outcomes
• Complete documentation and reporting requirements, including progress notes

Skills & Experience

• Lived experience of mental health challenges, confidence and resilience to share as appropriate
• First Aid Certificate
• Ability to reflect on recovery strategies
• Ability to positively engage, interact and work with people who have complex needs

About the Role

The purpose of the Senior Case Manager NISS is to provide intensive case management support to complex asylum seekers (individuals & families) primarily within the Status Resolution Support Service program. The incumbent offers guidance, support, mentoring and training to Case Coordinators and Cultural Support workers

Skills & Experience

• A recognised Degree qualification in Social Work, social sciences, psychology, nursing or mental health or a recognised diploma in a related field and working toward a degree qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in case plan outcomes with asylum seekers with complex needs including trauma, mental health, psychical health, child protection, family violence.
• Demonstrated experience in developing positive developmental relationship, building trust with NISS clients through active engagement and placing the best interest of the client at the centre of case planning.
• Demonstrated experience in working autonomously and implementing therapeutic case plans for multiple clients simultaneously.

The Placement Preservation Support and Mentoring and Personalised Support Service Programs works alongside children, young people, carers and families to strengthen placements and reduce the risk of placement breakdown. As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting a young person living with an acquired brain injury (ABI) who is non-verbal and has complex, high-care support needs. You will provide compassionate, person-centred care that promotes the young person's safety, wellbeing, independence, and quality of life. Using a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach, you will build a safe, consistent, and trusting relationship that promotes emotional regulation and wellbeing.

Our residential homes operate 24/7, and successful applicants will have the opportunity to work a roster which can include morning, afternoon, sleepovers, active nights and weekend shifts.

• Hold or be actively completing a Diploma in Community Services or related field (or higher) (Please note: a qualification is desirable but not essential for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants with relevant experience)
