The Position
The Director Medical Services – Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service provides strategic and operational medical leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare across the site. Reporting to the Executive Director Medical Services, you will oversee clinical governance, medical workforce management, service planning and medical education while working closely with executive leaders, clinical teams and external partners. This influential leadership role supports the delivery of patient-centred care, drives quality improvement initiatives, and contributes to the ongoing development of sustainable rural health services across the Limestone Coast.

Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service is the largest hospital within the Limestone Coast Local Health Network and provides a comprehensive range of acute, surgical, maternity, emergency, mental health and specialist services to the South East of South Australia and surrounding Victorian communities. As the region's major referral centre, the service plays a key role in medical education, specialist training and the delivery of high-quality healthcare across the Limestone Coast.
The Location
The Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN) delivers essential health services to more than 67,000 people across South Australia's south-east, while also supporting communities in Western Victoria. Criteria
Hold a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent), specialist qualifications, and be eligible for Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Demonstrate extensive experience in both clinical practice and medical administration.
Have proven leadership experience managing medical workforce, clinical governance and operational service delivery.
Possess exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and contemporary rural healthcare.
The Package
Temporary | Full-Time (12-Month Contract with the possibility of ongoing/permanent appointment)
MD2 | $243,212 - $320,467 p.a. 12%
Superannuation | Leave Loading | Salary Sacrifice applicable

In this role, you will actively engage in teaching and mentoring trainee medical officers, interns, medical students, and, where appropriate, nursing and allied health staff, inspiring the next generation of healthcare leaders. You will also participate in clinical audits and initiatives focused on quality, safety, and clinical risk management, helping to enhance healthcare practices and patient outcomes.
Additionally, you will be involved in research and continuous medical education activities, contributing to the advancement of paediatric medicine while enriching your own professional development. Key Responsibilities:- Patient Care: Provide medical services and expert consultations within the Paediatric Unit, ensuring high standards of clinical care.
- Clinical Leadership: Foster a collaborative team environment by offering clinical leadership and supervising trainee medical officers.
- Documentation and Communication: Ensure accurate documentation of clinical care in electronic medical records and timely communication with referrers.
- Administrative Support: Engage in administrative activities related to clinical service provision and assist the Head of Unit in planning and organising services.
- Community Networking: Develop community networks that support the Unit's objectives and attend outpatient clinics as required.
- Emergency Services: Provide after-hours emergency paediatric services and participate in the on-call roster as needed.

Bordertown Memorial Hospital provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners to outpatients and aged care beds and is part of the Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN)

We are offering a frontline administration role within Country Health Connect – Limestone Coast, based in the Tatiara (Bordertown/Keith) region, where you will provide high quality, confidential and customer‑focused support to clients, staff and visitors. You will join a supportive regional health team within Limestone Coast Local Health Network, contribute to smooth day‑to‑day service delivery, and work in an environment that values integrity, honesty, courage, care and respect.
Position summary
The Administration Service Officer provides reception, clerical and administrative services for Country Health Connect – Limestone Coast, including greeting and directing clients and visitors, handling enquiries, coordinating appointments and undertaking a range of office support tasks. The role delivers accurate word processing and data entry, cash handling and EFTPOS processing, meeting support, and general administrative assistance to health professionals, programs and visiting clinicians across the Tatiara sites.

- Someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, who can provide courteous, professional customer service in person and over the phone and work effectively as part of a busy team.
- A person with accurate data entry and computer skills (including Microsoft Office), experience in reception or medical records, and the ability to prioritise work, manage fluctuating demands and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- An adaptable, customer‑focused administrator who can use initiative, handle sensitive or difficult situations with tact and empathy, and work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal clients and communities.
How will you contribute?
- Provide a welcoming reception service, respond to enquiries, direct clients appropriately, coordinate bookings and appointments, process EFTPOS and cash, and support the hiring and return of equipment.
- Deliver efficient clerical support by preparing correspondence, filing, photocopying, managing mail, supporting visiting clinicians with room and diary bookings, raising invoices, ordering stationery and assisting with vehicle bookings and records.
- Actively support quality improvement by contributing ideas to improve administration processes, promoting a healthy team environment, reporting hazards and incidents, and ensuring efficient use of facilities, equipment and supplies.

Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LHN) is now accepting applications for a Candidate Pool, to be considered for vacant Physiotherapist positions (Allied Health Professional Level 1 or 2) that become available over the next 12 months, in Mount Gambier and across the Limestone Coast region. The Candidate Pool includes any casual work and also any part/full time vacancies which may arise within the wider physiotherapy department. About the role
As a Rural Generalist Physiotherapist, you will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of health services. To achieve this, you will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, including health professionals and service providers from other sectors. You will utilise a combination of preventative, early intervention, treatment/therapy and evaluation approaches. Our team consists of several senior Physiotherapists who have significant experience in the areas of musculoskeletal, critical care, neurological and amputee rehabilitation who support our junior staff members.
Mount Gambier Hospital is a growing health service providing care in a range of settings including orthopaedic, general surgical and medical inpatients, outpatients, inpatient rehabilitation, paediatrics and many more. The Physiotherapy Department at Mount Gambier Hospital boasts a young, energetic team focused on improving services for the people of the South East. There are also many opportunities to network with other professionals in the region through professional development opportunities and the local Young Professionals Group.
