About the Role
As a Clinical Midwifery Educator, you will be responsible for supporting, mentoring and educating midwifery staff within the maternity ward to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will facilitate learning opportunities, coordinate educational programs, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact by enhancing clinical capability across the workforce, promoting best practice standards, and supporting staff development from orientation through to advanced clinical learning. You will utilise your clinical expertise and passion for education to empower staff, foster professional growth, and help shape a highly skilled and engaged maternity workforce.
About You
You are a passionate and experienced midwifery professional who is dedicated to fostering excellence in maternity care and supporting the professional growth of others. With current registration as a Midwife and relevant clinical and/or educational qualifications, or equivalent experience, you bring a strong foundation of clinical expertise and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
You thrive in a collaborative healthcare environment, building positive relationships across multidisciplinary teams while confidently working independently when required. Your commitment to continuous learning is reflected in your ability to mentor, coach and develop staff, helping them build confidence, competence and clinical capability.
As an experienced educator, you understand adult learning principles and are skilled in delivering engaging education and assessment opportunities that support workforce development at the ward level. You are also an effective communicator with well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills, and you confidently utilise information technology to support clinical education, communication and best-practice patient care. What you'll be doing To provide clinical education and training within the ward/unit to promote competence of nursing/midwifery staff.

Applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent specialist recognition.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) Diabetes Educator coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s National Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses, criteria for CNS2 as outlined in the Public Hospital Nurses and Midwives (State) Award 2015 and the Policies and Procedures of the MoH and MNLHD.

What you'll be doing
Provide clinical nursing leadership, ensuring advanced assessment, person centred management planning and investigation including physical assessments, diagnostic reasoning and referrals, together with therapeutic interventions, including psychopharmacological interventions, for people substance use disorders within the NP scope of practice.
To manage care across a variety of health systems to maximize outcomes - engaging in complex and critical thinking;
integrating information and/or evidence; judiciously use clinical investigations; skilfully and empathetically communicating with all involved in the care episode, including the person receiving care and their family and community, and health professional colleagues.
To engage in practice as guided by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Nurse Practitioner Standards Framework.
About You
You are a dedicated Registered Nurse with current registration through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and current certificate to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, with specialised experience in supporting individuals affected by substance use disorders. You have a strong understanding of the assessment and management of alcohol and other drug-related conditions, including withdrawal management and contemporary opioid substitution treatment programs, and are committed to delivering safe, evidence-based care that supports recovery and improved health outcomes.
You bring excellent clinical assessment, problem-solving and decision-making skills, enabling you to effectively manage complex presentations and respond to the diverse needs of clients in both clinical and community settings. Your understanding of caring for individuals with complex health and social needs allows you to provide holistic, person-centred care that promotes engagement, wellbeing and continuity of treatment.
A strong communicator, you build positive therapeutic relationships with clients, families and healthcare professionals through effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication, supported by proficiency in clinical information systems and technology. You work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to plan, coordinate and deliver outcome-focused care, ensuring services are tailored to individual needs and aligned with best practice. MNC Virtual Care (MNCVC) is a district-wide program designed to ease hospital burden and improve patient outcomes by supporting hospital prevention strategies, including Early Supported Discharge, Urgent Care service delivery, Emergency Department (ED) avoidance, Central Intake, and the Aged Care Outreach Service (ACOS).
Operating within this hybrid model of care integrating virtual consultations with face to face interventions. The purpose of this position is to deliver timely, appropriate, and patient centred nursing care to individuals who can be safely managed outside the hospital setting.

You will provide continuity of care across the full maternity journey, working to your full scope of practice, and enjoying professional autonomy & flexibility in the both the hospital and outpatient community setting.
Our supportive team have a structured rolling roster, all working part-time with a buddy, as known midwives for a shared caseload, in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, MAPS and Core Maternity Midwives.
What you'll be doing
This position works within a high quality Midwifery Continuity of Care Maternity Service at Port Macquarie Base Hospital (PMBH) in the Caseload Midwifery Group Practice (MGP).
Applicants will provide care to an annual caseload of 35 and up to 37 women per year.
Applicants must be prepared to work within a team of MGP Midwives, under flexible work hours and as part of an on call roster.
Applicants will work closely alongside the Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) and Continuity Base Team (CBT) allowing the three teams to achieve a ‘whole of service’ integration of Midwifery Continuity of Care at PMBH.
About You
You present yourself as a midwife whose professional identity is grounded in capability, accountability and a clear commitment to women‑centred care. You hold current authority to practise as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA, and you operate confidently within the full scope of midwifery practice. Your clinical proficiency spans antenatal assessment, labour and birth support, postnatal care, lactation guidance and infant feeding, all aligned with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council’s National Competency Standards for the Midwife (2018).
You approach your work with a strong dedication to Midwifery Continuity of Care, valuing the relationships, trust and improved outcomes that continuity models foster. Your time‑management skills allow you to balance the unpredictable rhythm of midwifery and you adapt easily to flexible hours within a Midwifery Group Practice environment.
Your organisational strengths are matched by your communication abilities, enabling you to navigate complex situations, resolve conflict thoughtfully and collaborate effectively with women, families and colleagues.
