POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. Our 13-bed Special Care Unit, including 8 funded beds, provides care for premature and newborn babies, including babies born from approximately 32-34 weeks gestation. You'll work in a high-paced environment supporting babies who require additional monitoring and specialised care.
Our 14-bed Paediatric Unit provides care for children and young people across a diverse range of presentations, including medical, surgical, orthopaedic and eating disorder care. What You Will Be Doing
No two days are the same. You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple areas, broaden your experience and build skills that are transferable across paediatric and special care nursing.
You will:
- Provide safe, high-quality and family-centred nursing care to babies, children and young people.
- Work across Paediatrics and Special Care, gaining experience across a diverse range of clinical presentations.
- Care for premature and newborn babies requiring additional monitoring and support.
- Provide nursing care to children and young people with medical, surgical, orthopaedic and eating disorder presentations.
- Complete clinical assessments and monitor patients, recognising and escalating changes in condition.

About the role
- Lead the Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) program across SVHS and affiliated services, providing clinical and professional leadership to support safe and sustainable medication practices, compliance with medication management standards, and alignment with SVHA and NSW Health priorities
- Oversee the hospital medication formulary, including Individual Patient Use (IPU) approvals, formulary requests and reporting, and liaison with the State Formulary Committeeand that all regulatory and legislative requirements are met.
- Deliver Medication Use Evaluations and Quality Improvement activities, including monitoring and reporting on drug expenditure, and contribute to QUM research, education, promotional initiatives, bulletins and memos supporting safe and effective medication use
- Coordinate the SVHN Drug and Therapeutics Committee (DTC) secretariat, including communicating DTC decisions, preparing reports and maintaining the Pharmacy Intranet, while providing QUM advice to clinicians, pharmacists and external organisations including the Ministry of Health and CEC
- Be an active member of relevant committees and working parties and assist in the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures to ensure optimal medication management
About you
- Registered pharmacist with AHPRA, with no conditions on scope of practice, and relevant post-registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills and experience. Availability for on-call and weekend work as required
- Significant experience and demonstrated competence in clinical pharmacy services, with strong clinical judgement, expertise and commitment to ongoing professional development
- Demonstrated experience in formulary management and Drug and Therapeutics Committee processes, including implementation of committee decisions and development and implementation of medication-related policies and procedures
- Demonstrated experience delivering Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) initiatives and Medicines Use Evaluation (MUE/DUE) activities, with knowledge of applying relevant Healthcare Standards in practice
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to develop high-quality written materials, communicate effectively, negotiate and influence stakeholders, and contribute to a positive workplace culture

Yass District Hospital is part of the Inland Network. It is a 12 bed acute care facility that offers emergency medicine; acute medical inpatient services; pathology collection; pharmacy (outreach from Queanbeyan); and medical imaging (x-ray).
Yass Community Health is co-located within the hospital. Clients are registered/referred via the Central Intake Service. The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Registrar in Anaesthetics. You will be part of a supportive, collegiate department, consisting of 40 VMO Specialists and 14 Registrars. You will have opportunity to both work under supervision and run your own lists, supervising juniors. There will be the opportunity to consolidate your anaesthesia practice across the spectrum, as well as pursuing special interests. NSW Rural General Practitioner Procedural Training Program with Northern NSW Local Health District offers fellowed General Practitioners flexible Advanced Skills Training opportunities in Anaesthetics at the Network Hospitals.
This program is available to all Fellowed General Practitioners wanting to acquire or maintain procedural skills for use in rural NSW. It is recognised that General Practitioners undertaking procedural training are most likely to have established practices therefore training may be flexible to allow continuation of part time work in the practice.
The procedural training specialty should be appropriate to the service needs of the rural community in which they intend to practice. Recruitment will be focused on GPs proposing to take up rural practice who are residing in or are prepared to reside and practice as a General Practitioner in rural NSW.
The trainee will be engaged as a Senior Registrar under the Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award and will will receive an allowance to increase total remuneration to the level of Staff Specialist Level 1, Year 5 as per the Staff Specialists (State) Award, in line with Award increases.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a moderate degree of professional independence within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent skills, judgement and expertise
- Demonstrated skills in and commitment to improvements in clinical care, patient safety and risk management processes, including the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to achieve change
- High level interpersonal communication and team skills, and a sensitive approach to communication with patients, carers, other professionals and the public
- Demonstrated experience and well developed skills in working within health care organisations and the outside community, including capacity to use electronic communications (e.g. electronic records) effectively
- Evidence of participation in continuing professional development and commitment to the broader service objectives of the public health system, including the effective utilisation of resources, and participation in activities beyond direct patient care
- Demonstrated commitment to practicing medicine and advanced skill in a regional or rural setting in New South Wales
- Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Specialist, using best practice evidence provides person-centered specialist nursing care at an advanced practice level for the designated speciality in collaboration with individual/s and the multidisciplinary health care team. Provides clinical leadership, support and supervision for less experienced clinicians to achieve people focused quality care.
Selection Criteria
- Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and relevant post-registration qualifications in Alcohol & Other Drugs with a minimum of three years' experience working in the clinical speciality.
- Demonstrated competencies in and knowledge of the complexities and challenges involved in providing speciality nursing care in the context of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate ability to exercise extended autonomy in clinical decision making capabilities and leadership in the development of nursing specialty practice advancement.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means and sound interpersonal skills with the capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person-centred care at an extended role level with a commitment to quality improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality nursing care with a willingness to show leadership and embrace change in the coordination and delivery of care.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development, a commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of Alcohol & Other Drugs skills with a willingness to apply and share professional expertise as a resource person and mentor others within the speciality.
