The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Registrar in Anaesthetics. You will be part of a supportive, collegiate department, consisting of 40 VMO Specialists and 14 Registrars. You will have opportunity to both work under supervision and run your own lists, supervising juniors. There will be the opportunity to consolidate your anaesthesia practice across the spectrum, as well as pursuing special interests. NSW Rural General Practitioner Procedural Training Program with Northern NSW Local Health District offers fellowed General Practitioners flexible Advanced Skills Training opportunities in Anaesthetics at the Network Hospitals.
This program is available to all Fellowed General Practitioners wanting to acquire or maintain procedural skills for use in rural NSW. It is recognised that General Practitioners undertaking procedural training are most likely to have established practices therefore training may be flexible to allow continuation of part time work in the practice.
The procedural training specialty should be appropriate to the service needs of the rural community in which they intend to practice. Recruitment will be focused on GPs proposing to take up rural practice who are residing in or are prepared to reside and practice as a General Practitioner in rural NSW.
The trainee will be engaged as a Senior Registrar under the Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award and will will receive an allowance to increase total remuneration to the level of Staff Specialist Level 1, Year 5 as per the Staff Specialists (State) Award, in line with Award increases.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a moderate degree of professional independence within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent skills, judgement and expertise
- Demonstrated skills in and commitment to improvements in clinical care, patient safety and risk management processes, including the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to achieve change
- High level interpersonal communication and team skills, and a sensitive approach to communication with patients, carers, other professionals and the public
- Demonstrated experience and well developed skills in working within health care organisations and the outside community, including capacity to use electronic communications (e.g. electronic records) effectively
- Evidence of participation in continuing professional development and commitment to the broader service objectives of the public health system, including the effective utilisation of resources, and participation in activities beyond direct patient care
- Demonstrated commitment to practicing medicine and advanced skill in a regional or rural setting in New South Wales
- Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment

- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Physician, and/or specialist international medical pathways or MBA Registration in another Physician specialty with appropriate documented advanced training, and/or experience and recency of practice in General Medicine
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in General Medicine at the role delineation of the service
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time

About the role
The Senior Acute Stroke Care Physiotherapist will demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience and the ability to deliver high-quality neurological physiotherapy services at Tweed Valley Hospital. This role will primarily support patients within the Acute Stroke Unit and medical wards through direct clinical care, while also providing supervision, education and support to physiotherapy staff across the department. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced skills in acute stroke and neurological physiotherapy, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Participation in the physiotherapy department's weekend and public holiday acutecare roster will also be required.
