The Northern Beaches Community Mental Health Service (NBCMHS) provides a comprehensive range of community mental health services for adult and older people in the Northern Beaches local government area. Purpose of the Position

The position of Staff Specialist Northern Beaches CommunityMental Health Services,works within a multi-disciplinary team using a recovery orientated approach to support the timely clinical assessment, review, management, treatment and discharge planning to support the delivery of a high quality, safe, and evidence based mental health services for adult and older people residing in the Northern Beaches local government area.

Northern Beaches Hospital

To co-ordinate and lead the provision of all pharmacy dispensary activities for consumers of the Northern Beaches Hospital, including inpatients and outpatients. Royal North Shore Hospital Emergency Department is a busy tertiary service seeing 90,000 adult and paediatric patients annually and serving as a trauma centre and a state-wide burns and spinal referral hospital. Post Graduate Fellows have the opportunity to participate in a variety of models of care including short stay and fast track as well as take part in extensive teaching and research activities. The department has one of the largest and most successful Emergency Medicine training programs in NSW.

Purpose of the Position

The post graduate fellow does not fulfil the same duties as a specialist, it is a transition position between fellow medical practitioners into specialist roles via a short period of supervision. The post graduate fellow does not exercise independent clinical privileges and is supervised by a specialist medical officer at all times including periods of on-call. The level of supervision is commensurate to their level of experience.

You will provide care and treatment of patients, as a delegate of the specialist medical officer involved in the management of the patient, as part of a multidisciplinary team in a Northern Sydney Local Health District facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of clinical practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.

NSLHD is responsible for hosting the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Support Service (NVSS), comprising four operational arms which provide high-quality Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) services to eligible patients across NSW and within NSLHD. Access Service (VAD-AS): a small pool of Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) who are authorised VAD practitioners established to fill gaps in availability of local VAD practitioners across NSW.

• Care Navigator Service (VAD-CNS): a specialized call-centre manned by senior nurses and allied health professionals who provide information and support to patients, families, clinicians, and other community members about VAD.
• Pharmacy Service (VAD-PS): responsible for procuring and distributing the VAD substance, and providing expert pharmaceutical advise, education and support.
• NSLHD VAD Local Support Team: responsible for provision of direct clinical assessment and care to patients and families seeking access to VAD services.

The Director is responsible for operational performance, strategic management and planning, escalations and issues management related to the four service arms, and for maintaining effective internal/external stakeholder relationships to meet service goals and objectives.

Where you'll be working

This position is primarily based at Mona Vale Hospital but also supervises staff at Manly's Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice.

What you'll be doing

Lead, develop and evaluate inpatient physiotherapy therapy services within all inpatient units at Mona Vale Hospital - two rehabilitation wards, Geriatric and Evaluation Management and Palliative Care Units both adult and adolescent/ young adult services. This postilion manages and supports 9 FTE staff as well as providing expert clinical leadership and management of patients with complex needs across rehabilitation, aged and palliative care.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• Must hold qualifications recognised for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. Demonstrated senior experience in rehabilitation and palliative care, with a high level of contemporary intervention skills and demonstrated senior expertise in delivery, direction and management of physiotherapy services. Must have experience as a level 2 Physiotherapist.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting service development, quality improvement activities and professional education.

Proven clinical leadership skills in a public hospital setting with an ability to contribute as a district expert in the field of Physiotherapy.

What you'll be doing

• Full registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Evidence of extensive clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist Level 2.
• Provide evidence of proficient written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to liaise with novice and experienced health professionals and external service providers. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems.

Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation process. Experience in clinical teaching and supervision of students, level 1/2 Allied Health Professionals and/or Allied Health Assistants.
