Where you'll be working
Northern Beaches Hospital, Ward 4B (Cardiorespiratory/CCU)
What you'll be doing
Ward 4B is a 36 bed ward consisting of 6 dedicated beds for CCU and 30 high acuity medical beds with a cardiac and respiratory focus. 4B is a fast-paced and dynamic place to work with plenty of opportunity for learning and progression.
The successful candidate will work within a supportive team of dedicated nurses, and multidisciplinary team, providing quality, evidenced based care. There may be opportunities to apply for the Cardiorespiratory Pathway Program, offering Coronary Care upskilling,
Cardiac Cath Lab exposure, and dedicated cardiorespiratory study days.
Further, tertiary qualifications can be undertaken via the UTAS program.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Current clinical knowledge and clinical problem solving ability.
A commitment to excellence in nursing practice and continuing professional development.

Bring your nursing expertise to a role where every interaction can support better health outcomes.
Based at Newcastle Health Centre, you’ll support clients with acute and chronic cardiac and respiratory conditions across Belmont, Toronto, Raymond Terrace, Nelson Bay and Newcastle.
With a mix of clinics, group programs, home visits and Virtual Healthcare, you’ll deliver flexible, person-centred care while building your expertise in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
A role with variety, purpose and impact
You’ll deliver person-centred, evidence-based nursing care, completing assessments and developing individualised care plans to support each client’s health and rehabilitation goals.
Working alongside clients, families and the multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide education, advocacy and clinical support to promote informed decision-making and self-management.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Coordinating care for complex clients, including case conferencing and referrals.
- Supporting cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, education and home exercise programs.
- Responding effectively to changes in clinical condition and emergency situations.
- Working within professional, ethical, cultural and scope of practice requirements.
You’ll also contribute to the development and delivery of CPRU programs across Greater Newcastle Community Services, supporting accessible and responsive models of care.
What We're Looking For
You’re a Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based and person-centred care. You’ll bring strong communication skills, a collaborative approach and a commitment to supporting positive outcomes for clients.
You will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- A current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
- Strong clinical, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- A compassionate and respectful approach to working with clients, families and colleagues.
- A commitment to culturally safe, inclusive and person-centred care.
- Proficiency with SDPR and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

About the role
Following completion of orientation and training, the successful applicant will work as part of the nursing team to support the delivery of patient care within the outpatient setting.
Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, duties may include:
· Preparing clinic rooms and equipment

· Assisting with patient care and clinic flow
· Cleaning and maintaining equipment
· Supporting the nursing team with general clinical and administrative tasks
· Assisting with equipment repairs and maintenance processes

What you'll be doing
The Advanced Trainee will, under supervision, provide effective medical services within a patient-centric geriatric model of care to patients, while developing expertise in Geriatrician-led interdisciplinary care and management practice, in a complex clinical environment. The Advanced Trainee will have the opportunity to rotate through subspecialty modules within Geriatric Medicine including orthogeriatrics as well as acute and subacute patient care

About our Role
This position is an accredited Addiction Medicine training position including a possible rotation to the Public Health Unit.

This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.

During this time the purpose will be to provide public health management in response to notifiable conditions and outbreaks, in collaboration with teams in the Public Health Unit, and undertake projects that address health protection priorities in SESLHD.

Drug and Alcohol Services at SESLHD provide treatment and support for people experiencing problems related to the use of alcohol, cannabis, stimulants, heroin or prescription medications (e.g. opioid analgesics, benzodiazepines).

About Our Role
The primary purpose of a Provisional Fellow in Anaesthesia is to provide advanced level anaesthetic practice in a complex clinical environment, whilst under supervision as part of the training of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
Provisional Fellows are expected to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills, including:
anaesthesia and sedation
regional anaesthesia
airway management
pain medicine
perioperative medicine
resuscitation
trauma and crisis management
This position offers an excellent program and pathway for senior trainees to transition into consultant practice. Special emphasis is placed on developing clinical autonomy, organisational skills and supervision of junior trainees. This position offers the opportunity to develop these skills in adult and paediatric anaesthesia (by mutual agreement).
Anaesthesia at Prince of Wales
Prince of Wales Anaesthesia provides anaesthesia services to Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH) and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick (SCH). There are fourteen general operating theatres (adult and paediatric), a cardiac operating suite, and a two-theatre urology operating suite including lithotripsy.
There are multiple locations outside of theatres where anaesthesia support is provided to procedural and diagnostic work (e.g. radiology, cardiac catheter labs, endoscopy suite etc.). Anaesthesia is also very active in both teaching and research.
Anaesthesia has eleven Fellow positions: nine in a wide range of Anaesthesia Services distributed between POWH and SCH, one in Pain Medicine and one in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (the latter two are advertised separately). In practice all Anaesthesia Fellows work across both POWH and SCH.
A wide range of options are available for the training of Provisional Fellows within the Department. The exact mix of duties is determined by negotiation. We tailor a year of high-quality clinical and non-clinical exposure to each individual. The general principles for a week of work are: two days of clinical work in an area of preferred interest for each provisional fellow, two days of further clinical work required by the Department, and a day for research and development, administration, teaching and quality assurance activities.

About our Role

What you'll be doing
The Intensive Care Advanced Trainee will work under the supervision of Specialist Intensive Care Physicians, assisting to manage, diagnose and treat patients with severe medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric illness. This may include the management of deteriorating and seriously ill patients outside the intensive care unit as well as the intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients. The Advanced Trainee will participate in a rotating roster of days, evenings, nights and weekends, performing on call duties and acting as a junior specialist with the support of the Specialist oncall. The position is accredited for ICU training by the CICM and evidence of progression towards fellowship is an essential criteria of the role.
This position may also be suitable as a Transitional Fellow, depending on level of training and agreement with the College Intensive Care Medicine.

Central Coast Local Health District offers an Integrated Training Program (ITP), for medical officers in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), based at Gosford Hospital. The program satisfies the requirements of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), for Membership and Fellowship. This position involves general experience in labour ward management and gynaecology operating. Provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatients and outpatient areas in the public health organisation.The department also offers support and guidance for the completion of RANZCOG's Certificate of Women’s Health (CWH).
Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and trauma centre for the Central Coast, with over 500 inpatient beds and 24/7 access to the emergency department and operating theatres. A recent $368 million dollar redevelopment delivered a new emergency department, ICU, nuclear medicine facility, special care nursery and expanded medical imaging services.
Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital with over 300 beds providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern region of the Central Coast. A recent $200 million expansion delivered a new emergency department, ICU, paediatric unit, inpatient wards, theatres and expanded medical imaging services. Another development is the Wyong Women’s Centre, due for completion at the end of 2024. This will provide more accommodation for antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics. In addition, there will be two procedure rooms for more outpatient procedures to be performed,

Where you will be working:
Central Coast Local Health District offers an Integrated Training Program (ITP), for medical officers in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), based at Gosford Hospital. The program satisfies the requirements of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), for Membership and Fellowship. This position involves general experience in labour ward management and gynaecology operating. Provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatients and outpatient areas in the public health organisation.The department also offers support and guidance for the completion of RANZCOG's Certificate of Women’s Health (CWH).
Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and trauma centre for the Central Coast, with over 500 inpatient beds and 24/7 access to the emergency department and operating theatres. A recent $368 million dollar redevelopment delivered a new emergency department, ICU, nuclear medicine facility, special care nursery and expanded medical imaging services.
Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital with over 300 beds providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern region of the Central Coast. A recent $200 million expansion delivered a new emergency department, ICU, paediatric unit, inpatient wards, theatres and expanded medical imaging services. Another development is the Wyong Women’s Centre, due for completion at the end of 2024. This will provide more accommodation for antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics. In addition, there will be two procedure rooms for more outpatient procedures to be performed,

Selection Criteria:
- Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
- Demonstrated recency of practice and clinical expertise in O&G with demonstration of competency working independently with complex emergencies, at the role delineation of the service.
- Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and other staff of the hospital.
- Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.

What you will be doing:
The Advanced Trainee in Palliative Medicine will provide quality healthcare to patients under supervision, while developing a broad knowledge of the principles and practice of palliative medicine and a satisfactory level of competence in palliative medicine as required for Advanced Training.
These positions will have supervision from specialist medical staff whilst undertaking learning and professional development as outlined by the Chapter of Palliative Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: The duties of the Palliative Care medical officer will vary according to the particular location and context of the post; for example:
HOSPITAL CONSULT TERM (mainly hospital consults)
- Review patients as requested by other medical or surgical units (on the same day as requested or as close to the same day as possible).
- Review the patient within 24 hours or as close to this as possible with an AMO from the affiliated palliative care service hours.
- Communicate with other units the objectives of care and assist in resolving conflicts between therapeutic objectives of units.
- Hospital Consults rotations may also involve some inpatient work.
INPATIENT TERM (mainly in-patient care)
- Daily ward rounds of every patient in the unit.
- Careful documentation in the case notes of patient progress (and tests, etc).
- Responsibility for communication with AMO about any relevant change in patient’s condition.
- Fully admitting or at least examining all new admissions.
- Responsible for ordering and chasing results of all appropriate investigations (either self-initiated or AMO-initiated).
- Discharge planning, together with patient and paramedical staff and family.
- Ensuring appropriate post-discharge follow-up.
- Supervising discharge summaries and communication with the patient’s general practitioner (LMO).
- Liaise with and counsel the family or guardians of patient as required.
- Prompt implementation of management changes suggested by senior staff.
- To supervise resident medical officers or interns attached to the inpatient palliative care unit.
- Liaise with external medical services, such as, General Practitioners, in a professional, succinct and courteous fashion.
COMMUNITY TERM (mainly community consults)
- Notify AMO of new referrals on day of assessment
- See all new referrals within 3 working days, and within 24hrs for urgent referrals
- See patients with the AMO as directed
- Liaise promptly with the patients general practitioner after each visit
- Regularly review unstable patients in collaboration with the GP
- See patients in all home settings as directed (residential homes, hostels, nursing homes) - Liaise regularly with the GPs and Care givers as appropriate to the patient - after carers/allied health/health providers
- Provide systematic management of the community case load
OUTPATIENT CARE
- Attendance at unit outpatient clinics
- Assessment of unit patients in the emergency department
- Enhance skills in handling problems on the telephone and deciding the situations in which this is appropriate
Where you will be working:
The appointing hospitals are accredited for core training in Palliative Medicine. Each centre will provide training in essential clinical aspects of Palliative Medicine. Some centres will require trainees to rotate to the other centres as part of their training. Applicants should contact the responsible person/head of department at each hospital or facility to which they are applying in order to find out more about their specific training programs in Palliative Medicine.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- RACP advanced trainees (Palliative Medicine and other subspecialties), Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine trainees, Clin. Foundations in Palliative Medicine (RACP) trainees, Faculty of Pain Medicine trainees and Family Medicine Program trainees or as detailed under Qualifications above
- Completed at least four years residency since graduation

Where you will be working:
Wyong Hospital has a busy and active General Medicine Department with the opportunity to be attached to and help develop the MAU. Positions are also offered in ICU and a variety of subspecialties (including palliative care, cardiology, geriatrics, rehabilitation, medical oncology) at Wyong, Gosford, and Woy Woy Hospitals. The General Medical teams are supported with interns and residents and headed by either a staff specialist or VMO or combinations of these. Supervision is provided by dedicated general medicine specialists and subspecialty specialists where appropriate. CCLHD has strong links with the University Of Newcastle Medical School. Third year medical students are attached to each General Medical team. Teaching responsibilities include the teaching of the medical students, JMOs and BPTs. BTPTs are attached on rotation from Hunter New England.

Advance Trainee – Emergency Medicine
A position is currently available for an Advance Trainee in Emergency Medicine at Dubbo Health Service.
The Emergency Department at Dubbo Health Service is an accredited training site for the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
Since 2022 the Dubbo Emergency Department has been able to offer:
ACEM Trainees: Up to 24-months accredited training time in Emergency Medicine
ACRRM Trainees: 12-months of Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine.
There is an established Emergency Medicine training program within the ED with regular protected teaching every Thursday between 2pm and 6pm.The Dubbo ED has assisted ACEM Trainees to successfully pass the ACEM Primary and ACEM Fellowship examinations.

Stage 1 Trainee – Emergency Medicine
A position is currently available for a Trainee in Emergency Medicine at Dubbo Health Service.
The Emergency Department at Dubbo Health Service is an accredited training site for the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
From 2022 the Dubbo Emergency Department will be able to offer:
ACEM Trainees: Up to 24-months accredited training time in Emergency Medicine
ACRRM Trainees: 12-months of Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine.
There is an established Emergency Medicine training program within the ED with regular protected teaching every Thursday between 2pm and 6pm.The Dubbo ED has assisted ACEM Trainees to successfully pass the ACEM Primary and ACEM Fellowship examinations.

- Evidence of registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Specialist, Emergency Medicine or Specialist, General Practice (FRACGP or FACRRM) with additional advanced qualifications in Emergency Medicine. The Role
The Cardiology Research Department/Clinical Trials is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our dedicated research team. In this role, you will coordinate and support a broad range of cardiology clinical trials and research projects, contributing to advancements in cardiovascular care and improved patient outcomes. Working under the guidance of Principal Investigators, you will identify and recruit eligible participants, coordinate study visits, collect and manage clinical and research data, maintain study records and databases, and ensure research activities are conducted in accordance with study protocols, ethical requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory standards. This is a unique opportunity to combine advanced clinical knowledge with research practice while contributing to innovative therapies and evidence-based healthcare.
You will need
- Current knowledge of, and the demonstrated ability to apply, nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical competence, relevant experience in clinical research activities including documentation and data collection skills and ability to apply the principles of nursing care to the research project activities.
- Knowledge of the legal requirements, relevant policies and procedures in relation to research and the practice setting.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). The position will be located at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals within the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine.
Successful applicants should be fully trained anaesthetists, ideally with subspecialty training.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within six months, may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014.
Selection Criteria
1. Qualifications and credentials required for core scope of practice in the specialty.
2. Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty.
3. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
o Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
o Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.
o Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.
4. Demonstrated aptitude for clinical leadership which is evidenced by:
o Systems thinking and risk-taking aptitude.

About the role:
You will join a collaborative and committed team that provides services across 35 primary, secondary and tertiary hospitals and community health facilities using the latest in Medical Imaging Technology. This encompasses Bone, PET, Theranostics, CT, BMD, Lung, Parathyroid, Gallium and Thyroid scanning, Cardiac, Renal, Brain and Biliary Imaging, Cardiac Stress Testing, Gastric studies and Lymphoscintigraphy.
We have an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly departmental staff, committed to a strong team. Working in Nuclear Medicine here can be challenging, but also satisfying and valuable, with great clinical connections with the many subspecialty teams at our sites. We collaborate with the University of Newcastle which has both a Radiation Science and Medical School benefiting from various students, and teaching opportunities.
Hunter New England Imaging comprises of the Divisions of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine which together provide a complete range of training modalities including General Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Tomography, Angiography, Interventional Procedures, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and PET.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA
- Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine or dual qualified Radiologist with Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists
- Recent and comprehensive experience in Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiology
Credentialed as a provider of specialist PET services by Joint Nuclear Medicine Credentialing and Accreditation Committee (JNMCAC)
