Whyalla Hospital and Health Services is a large regional hospital comprising of 75 beds including flex beds and a designated High Dependency Unit. The hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, medical and surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatients. Whyalla Hospital’s Cancer Resource Centre is one of the largest in regional South Australia. It includes six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care and counselling services, reducing the need to travel outside of the region for care. It is also, one of three stroke services in regional SA, providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients 24/7, supported by metropolitan stroke units. About the Role:

As an Assistant in Nursing, you will support Registered and Enrolled Nurses in providing quality care to patients across a range of clinical settings. You’ll be responsible for delivering essential care tasks and assisting with daily activities, helping to ensure a safe, comfortable, and dignified experience for patients. This is a rewarding opportunity to work as a valued member of the healthcare team, where your contributions make a meaningful difference every day.

About You:

• Be enrolled as a student in an undergraduate program in nursing or midwifery (can state year of program e.g. 3rd year) and have completed any training required by the employer relevant to the safe and competent performance of work at this level; OR
• Be employed on the basis that the person is, or will be, undertaking a course approved by the Registration Authority for the preparation of Enrolled Nurses; OR
• Hold a Certificate III or IV in one of the following health related disciplines:
  • Basic Health Care;

About the Role:

As an Administration Officer at Hawker Memorial Hospital, you will provide confidential medical reception and administrative support that ensures the delivery of high-quality services to the hospital, Medical Practitioner, clients and visiting health professionals. Accountable to the Executive Officer/Director of Nursing, you will contribute to the effective management of medical records, admissions and discharges, data collection and information systems, while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
