The Heart Centre for Children at The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team. What you'll be doing

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role to deliver a child and family centred approach to healthcare within the nominated specialty service. The NP provides innovative and flexible health care delivery that complements other health care providers. The NP’s scope of practice (SCOP) is determined by the context of practice, is underpinned by policy and service requirements. The SCOP will be reviewed regularly in conjunction with the service director and/or manager or Nurse Manager as relevant to the service.

The NP role includes, but is not limited to comprehensive health assessment, initiation and interpretation of diagnostic investigations, diagnosis, prescription of pharmacological and non-pharmacological agents/therapies and discussion with/referral to medical specialists and other health professionals.

The NP will clinically manage patients requiring hospital admission or discharge, in the clinic or community setting or as relevant to the service.

The NP will emphasize health promotion and disease prevention.

The NP will draw on their professional competency and capability to improve clinical service outcomes through research and quality improvement activities.

The NP will provide education and support to other clinicians that facilitate the ongoing development of clinical practice.

The NP will maintain a standard level of education reflective of their competence.

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the CICADA Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Clinic Co-ordinator is to provide oversight and co-ordination of the multidisciplinary clinicians within the service to enhance the clinical service.

The CICADA Centre NSW offers Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by drugs and alcohol. A lifespan care approach, based in a tertiary paediatric hospital, is delivered through three clinical services: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service, Family Service and Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Service. Quality improvement, research, teaching and education are essential parts of the CICADA service.

The FASD Service provides clinical assessment for children and adolescents with a history of prenatal alcohol exposure or whom a diagnosis of FASD is suspected. This includes a developmental multidisciplinary assessment, formulation of a diagnostic report and recommendations for ongoing support and intervention.

The Clinic Co-ordinator will ensure effective intake and triage for the clinic, collaboration of referral information, clinician allocation, and collaboration. They will liaise with referring clinicians, family members, health professionals, education, and family and community services to collate medical, social, and neurocognitive assessments to facilitate the FASD clinical assessment.

Additionally, the role involves liaison and referral to community supports, including access to NDIS as required, provision of expert clinical care and education to children and their families within a defined specialty, and a consultancy and educational focus forward-based nurses in the care of children and their families. In collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, the Clinical Nurse Consultant will undertake primary responsibility for ongoing education, development, and evaluation of clinical practice.

The Clinical Research Nurse Specialist (CNS2) at the Clinical Research Centre, will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of a fast-paced and dynamic portfolio of commercial and investigator-initiated clinical trials, in compliance with the relevant legal, ethical, regulatory, and clinical guidelines across SCHN and in Australia. The CNS2 will collaborate closely with Investigators and relevant industry stakeholders to coordinate the delivery of early phase/advanced therapeutics trials and provide care to paediatric trial participants with complex care needs. The CNS2 is an extended role within the scope of a Registered Nurse that provides safe, compassionate, person centred care to patients and families of SCHN. Day-to-day tasks may include but are not limited to: participant recruitment; facilitation of participant consent; and study visit conduct through performance of protocol-mandated procedures/assessments; monitoring and escalation of safety events; query resolution and quality assurance activities, preparation of ethics and regulatory submissions; and clinical trial data management. In addition to the above, the CNS2 will:

• Act as a leader and role model within the multi-disciplinary team at the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) to promote culture and standards that reflect the NSW Health CORE values;
