The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania Medical School. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state. This role has been established to improve the delivery of General Surgical services to patients and assist in the co-ordination and training of surgical Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and Registrars.

It is ideally suited to Fellow who has recently been awarded a Fellowship in General Surgery, or a trainee who will have completed the training requirements by the time of commencement of employment. The successful applicants would each be attached to one of the sub-specialty units (colorectal, UGI/HPB, or breast/endocrine) and have opportunities for exposure to those fields. Some of the clinical work in this role involves managing acute / emergency cases as part of the Department of General Surgery's Emergency Surgical Unit (ESU). There are also opportunities to be involved with other teaching and research activities.

The Team

As a member of the Occupational Therapy leadership team, you will work collaboratively with Allied Health leaders to shape and advance Women's and Children's services.

The Team

The Occupational Therapy Service includes over 90 team members consisting of occupational therapists and assistants, play specialists, diversional therapists, carpenter, and administration officers. We work across acute, sub-acute and community settings, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, the largest teaching Hospital in Tasmania. The Role

As a member of the Occupational Therapy leadership team, you will work collaboratively to shape and advance Occupational Therapy Services in the Women's and Children's Services Stream.

You will:

• Provide professional leadership and clinical governance for Occupational Therapy services within Paediatric Services.
• Support and develop Occupational Therapists, Diversional Therapists, Allied Health Assistants and Play Specialists through mentoring, supervision, workforce development and education initiatives.
• Lead service improvement, quality, safety and consumer engagement activities.
• Drive the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, pathways and evidence-based models of care.
• Foster a culture of research, innovation and knowledge translation.
• Partner with medical, nursing and allied health colleagues to optimise patient, family and service outcomes.
• Provide expert clinical advice and support for complex and emerging clinical issues.
• Represent Occupational Therapy and Allied Health on relevant committees, projects and working groups.

You will need

• Extensive clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist working with children and young people.
• High level communication skills with demonstrated leadership capability and the ability to engage others and influence change.
• Experience leading quality improvement, service redesign or innovation projects.
