NHS Locum Consultant Gastroenterology - 12-24 Months Fixed Term

We have been asked by an NHS Foundation Trust in the East of England to recruit a Consultant Gastroenterologist on a 12 month NHS Fixed Term basis.

Located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK with excellent schools and lovely coastline.

There is strong collaboration with the Upper and Lower GI surgical teams to provide effective management of Gastroenterology patients, including an established MDT structure, stoma nurses and Specialist GI Radiology service.

Colon capsule endoscopy is done onsite together with ERCP and GI stent procedures are done in dedicated intervention screening lists.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant level gastroenterology care with involvement in MDT discussions for GI patients.
• Perform or supervise colon capsule endoscopy, ERCP and GI stent procedures in dedicated intervention lists.
• Collaborate with Upper and Lower GI surgical teams and GI radiology to manage patient pathways.
• Lead and contribute to a supportive team environment and ongoing service development.

Qualifications & Experience

• MRCP and GMC registration are required as a minimum.
• CESR opportunity for those seeking specialist registration.
• Experience in leadership within a gastroenterology service is desirable.

The appointee will be asked to undertake various duties, including providing a Consultant anaesthetic service for elective and emergency surgery, providing high quality patient care, minimising risks and maintaining patient safety in accordance with the GMC's Good Medical Practice, providing help in the delivery of effective services within the agreed budget, cooperating with other departments and agencies to meet the objectives of the Anaesthetic Department, working flexibly within a nominally fixed timetable, helping provide training, supervision and career development to junior doctors of all grades in the Anaesthetic Department and contributing to the education of medical and nursing students, paramedics and trainees in other specialties as required. They will also maintain effective multi-disciplinary team working & assist with clinical governance and audit duties.
