The Chair will have an internationally outstanding research program which will complement and leverage the research activities in the school and faculty. We are looking for a scientific leader who is capable of fostering connections with a wide network of academic, industry and professional institutions, partners, and stakeholders.

The Chair must have an international reputation in infectious disease research, either in basic or applied science and/or even have a slant towards a translational research program that has commercial milestones. The Chair will be required to mentor and develop the career aspirations of students and academic staff. In addition to their research program, they will actively contribute to teaching, in particular supervision of students and where appropriate provide teaching to undergraduate and or postgraduate students. The Postdoctoral Research Associate in Activity on the Sun and Solar-like stars will use theory, data analysis, and computation to improve our understanding of solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and their counterparts on solar-like stars. Flares and CMEs are the most energetic events in the solar system and are drivers for space weather events which directly affect the Earth. This project will involve developing new and improving existing methods of modelling and analysis of solar active regions, the source regions for flares and CMEs, and applying the results also to stellar flares. As a Project Manager you will provide end-to-end project management, overseeing multiple workstreams to ensure the successful planning, implementation, and delivery of clinical trials aligned with strategic objectives. Working under broad direction, you will establish and manage project structures, including governance frameworks, project plans, and resource allocation, to support efficient and compliant trial delivery. You will be responsible for driving progress across concurrent activities, ensuring milestones are achieved, risks are mitigated, and reporting is clear and actionable. You will collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders across the University and external partners, fostering strong working relationships to support effective communication, coordination, and delivery. • Lead the end-to-end development and delivery of high-quality complex clinical trials, including project planning, trial documentation, database oversight, and preparation of ethics and governance submissions.
• Manage clinical trial budgets and financial performance, including supporting grant applications, monitoring expenditure, and proactively addressing risks with investigators and program leadership.
• Ensure clinical trials are conducted in accordance with protocols, ICH-GCP, and ethics and governance requirements, including monitoring participant safety, tracking adverse events, and escalating issues as required.
• Oversee participant recruitment strategies and study visit processes to ensure targets are met and trial activities are delivered efficiently and consistently.
• Manage trial data integrity and reporting, including oversight of data collection, quality assurance processes, and liaison with external stakeholders such as Clinical Research Associates.
• Oversee the acquisition, governance and use of linked health datasets and real-world data sources, ensuring compliance with data governance requirements and supporting high-quality data-driven research outcomes.
• Provide leadership and people management to the clinical trial team, including workload allocation, mentoring, performance development, and supporting recruitment of staff in line with University policies.

• Postgraduate qualifications in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Data Science, Science or a relevant field.
• Demonstrated high-level project management expertise, with the ability to effectively manage scope, time, cost, quality, risk, procurement and integration across complex projects.
• Proven leadership capability, with experience managing teams, exercising sound judgement, and proactively resolving challenges in a dynamic environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks, develop practical solutions, and implement strategies to minimise future issues.

About the role

The PRIORITY-CONNECT-2 clinical trial is funded by an MRFF grant (and run in partnership with the University of Sydney and the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (RPA, Sydney). The "Virtual Hub" at Peter Mac provides virtual prehabilitation to participants recruited from participating sites across Australia.

The Hub requires a team of clinical staff (Physiotherapist, Clinical Psychologist, Dietitian and Clinical Nurse Specialist to deliver the study intervention). The Physiotherapist will be employed on a part time basis (up to 0.5EFT) and is fully funded for the duration of the study (anticipated to finish in 2029).

Your role within the programme:
