Veterinary Oncologist - Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Sydney
SmartRecruiters, Inc. View all jobs
Posted 7 day(s) ago
Reference: 3188527105
- Full-time
Are you a Veterinary Oncologist or Oncology Registrar looking for an opportunity where you can do more than simply step into an established role?
At Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Sydney, we're looking for an oncologist who wants the clinical support of a multidisciplinary specialist hospital, while having the opportunity to shape and grow an oncology service around the way they want to practice.
ARH Homebush has been providing specialist referral and emergency veterinary care in NSW for more than 25 years, with specialist and 24-hour emergency services operating as one integrated hospital. We also have ARH Greater Western Sydney which is based in Minchinbury which is a newer hospital with the opportunity to work there if desired.
This is an opportunity to make the service your own.
Why ARH Sydney? You'll practice within a collaborative specialist environment with access to advanced imaging, anaesthesia, critical care, internal medicine and surgical colleagues, giving you strong clinical support when managing complex oncology patients.
Importantly, we're not looking for someone to simply inherit a rigidly established oncology department.
We want you to help build it.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Shape the oncology service around your clinical interests and preferred working style
- Influence future investment in oncology equipment and facilities
- Establish a dedicated oncology workspace
- Help select and develop your supporting nursing team
- Work with an oncology intern and contribute to their clinical development
- Develop the caseload and service over time
- Collaborate closely with specialists across multiple disciplines.
The hospital currently has oncology cases being managed with support from Internal Medicine, including chemotherapy for routine cancers, providing a platform from which the dedicated service can grow.
The OpportunityYour caseload will predominantly reflect medical oncology, with the freedom to establish the service in a way that supports both excellent patient outcomes and sustainable clinical practice.
There is no radiation therapy onsite, allowing the role to focus on medical oncology while working collaboratively with other specialist disciplines and external providers where appropriate.
Alongside your clinical work, there will be opportunities to contribute to teaching, case discussion and professional education, including conference participation.
Whether you're an experienced Specialist looking for greater autonomy or a Registrar ready for the next stage of your career, we'd love to start a conversation.
A Multidisciplinary Hospital Behind YouYou won't be building the service alone.
ARH Homebush is a 24-hour specialist referral and emergency hospital, giving oncology patients access to multidisciplinary care within the same hospital environment. The hospital's current specialist services include areas such as Medicine, Critical Care and Ophthalmology, while the wider Animal Referral & Emergency Network provides access to clinicians across additional specialist fields.
You'll benefit from:
- Strong clinical support in a collegial, collaborative environment
- Specialist and emergency care under one roof
- The infrastructure of an established referral hospital
- Access to the broader specialist expertise of the Animal Referral & Emergency Network.
We recognise that experienced specialists aren't all looking for the same working arrangement.
That's why we're open to discussing:
- Full-time or part-time employment
- Flexible working arrangements
- A caseload structured around your experience and interests
- The opportunity to develop the service at a sustainable pace.
We're interested in hearing from veterinarians who are passionate about oncology, value collaboration and want to have a meaningful influence on the service in which they work.
Ideally, you'll be:
- A board-certified Veterinary Oncology Specialist
- Residency-trained and working towards specialist board examinations
- Collaborative, approachable and committed to excellent patient care
- Interested in contributing to the development of an oncology service and its future team.
We warmly welcome conversations with residency-trained oncologists preparing for their board examinations, as well as established specialists.
What We OfferWe want to create an environment in which you have the resources, flexibility and professional support to do your best work.
- Generous and personalised remuneration package
- Real influence in shaping and growing Oncology at ARH Sydney
- Exceptional professional development support, including study leave, conference attendance and a network of established specialists
- Relocation and visa sponsorship support for eligible candidates
- Generous leave, wellbeing and employee benefits, including paid parental leave, Fitness Passport and EAP
- Access to a daycare centre located in the same building providing ease for working mums and dads
Our Homebush and Minchinbury sites offers the perfect balance between city and suburban lifestyle. Easy access to Sydney CBD or the vast village lifestyle surrounded by a World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains national park.
