About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Surgical Liaison Nurse to join the Neurosurgery and Planned Surgery team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. In this specialised nursing role, you will coordinate and manage the care of Neurosurgery patients throughout their planned surgery journey, helping to ensure timely access to surgery and a smooth transition through the healthcare system. You will be primarily responsible for managing the Neurosurgery Planned Surgery waiting list in accordance with relevant policies and Department of Health requirements. Working closely with surgical teams and other key stakeholders, you will coordinate patient care, streamline the elective admission process and support initiatives aimed at reducing surgical wait times and length of stay. This role would suit an experienced acute surgical nurse with strong organisational and communication skills who enjoys coordinating care and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
Classification: YU11 – $115,289.20 per annum, pro rata
Key Responsibilities
You will:
Coordinate and case manage Neurosurgery patients throughout their planned surgery journey
Manage the Neurosurgery Planned Surgery waiting list in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
Work closely with surgical teams and other stakeholders to support appropriate and timely patient management
Monitor planned surgery cancellations and coordinate appropriate patient follow-up
Monitor Category 1 patients to support treatment within the required 30-day timeframe
Manage Category 2 and Category 3 patients to support treatment within Department of Health designated timeframes
Support an efficient elective admission process and timely progression of patients to surgery
Contribute to initiatives that improve patient flow, reduce waiting times and support effective transitions of care
Your Contribution
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A Bachelor of Nursing that meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
At least three years of postgraduate acute surgical nursing experience
Strong clinical assessment, organisation and care coordination skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, surgical teams and other stakeholders
The ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate patients within required clinical timeframes
A current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain one

The Planned Surgery Management Team coordinates and case manages patients on the St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne planned surgery waiting list. The team works in accordance with the Planned Surgery waiting list policy and Department of Health requirements to support timely and equitable access to surgery. Working across surgical specialties at SVHM, the team plays an important role in coordinating patient care, managing waiting lists and supporting patients throughout their planned surgery journey.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Endoscopy Rural and Regional Nurse Coordinator to join the Planned Surgery team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. In this specialised nursing role, you will coordinate the endoscopy care journey for patients referred from rural and regional Victoria, helping to ensure timely, equitable and well-coordinated access to endoscopy services. Working within the Endoscopy Waitlist team, you will collaborate closely with nursing, administrative and clinical teams, as well as rural and regional health services, to coordinate referrals, patient triage, procedure preparation and scheduling. You will act as a central point of contact for patients and partner health services, supporting communication between services and helping patients navigate their endoscopy journey. This includes coordinating pre-procedure bowel preparation and assisting patients who may require support with travel and accommodation. The role will also contribute to the development and continuous improvement of partnerships with rural and regional health services, strengthening referral pathways and supporting seamless transitions of care.
Classification: YY4 – $121,695.60 per annum, pro rata for part time
Key Responsibilities
You will:
Coordinate the endoscopy care journey for patients referred from rural and regional areas
Act as a central point of contact for patients and partner health services throughout the referral and treatment process
Coordinate patient triage, procedure preparation and endoscopy scheduling according to clinical urgency and suitability
Work collaboratively with the broader Endoscopy team to support efficient scheduling and optimal utilisation of endoscopy sessions
Ensure referrals are actioned in accordance with the Planned Surgery Access Policy and patients receive appropriate follow-up
Support patients who require assistance with travel and accommodation to facilitate access to their endoscopy procedure
Coordinate pre-procedure requirements, including bowel preparation, to support patient readiness for endoscopy
Maintain accurate patient booking information and support high standards of data integrity
Work collaboratively with rural and regional health services to strengthen referral pathways and continuity of care
Support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of rural and regional health service partnerships
Your Contribution
To be successful in this role, you will have:

About Planned Surgery
The Planned Surgery Team coordinates and case manages patients on the St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Planned Surgery and Endoscopy waiting lists in accordance with the Department of Health’s Planned Surgery Access Policy. The team supports patients across surgical and endoscopy specialties at SVHM and coordinates pre-operative care through dedicated pre-admission clinics. This also includes services provided through the St Vincent’s on the Park (SVHOP) Rapid Access Hub. Working collaboratively across the organisation, the team plays an important role in supporting timely access to care, effective patient flow and a coordinated experience for patients throughout their planned procedure journey.

Planned Surgery Waitlist Officer - Endoscopy SVHOP

About the Role
The Waiting List Officer is accountable for the management of patients on the Planned Surgery Waiting List from a clerical perspective within the guidelines of the Department of Health Planned Surgery Access Policy. They provide efficient administrative support within the team and work closely with the Surgical Liaison Nurses to ensure patients are safely prepared for their elective and endoscopic procedure.
- Receive and process waiting list forms from specialist clinics, private rooms and other areas of St Vincent's within stipulated time frame as per DHHS Elective Surgery Access Policy
- Accurately create, record and update the Waiting List Screen on Patient Administration System (PAS) as required
- Contact patients and schedule admission for procedures
- Schedule any appointments, that may include preadmission clinic, anaesthetic clinic, perioperative medicine unit (PMU) clinic and any associated investigations as requested by the SLN or unit
Classifications for this position will range from HS1 - HS17 ($60,780 - $72,677 per annum)

They are responsible for the case management and coordination of care for patients from when they go on the surgical waitlist until they are scheduled and have their procedure.

About the Role
The Planned Surgery Liaison Nurse will co-ordinate, negotiate and manage the transition of care of patients throughout the continuum. You will be primarily responsible for managing the Planned Surgery Endoscopy waiting list according to the waiting list policy, streamline the planned admission process, and work towards decreasing wait for endoscopy procedure and length of stay.
- Aware of the Planned Surgery Wait list Policy principles with regards to when patients are placed on the planned endoscopy and surgery waiting list
- Liaise with surgical staff and other relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate case management of patients
- Monitor elective surgery cancellations and arrange appropriate follow up
- Monitor Category 1 patients to ensure they are treated within 30 days.
- Manage Category 2 & 3 patients to ensure they are treated within their designated time frame set by the Department of Health
Classifications for this position will be YU11 ($115,289 per annum pro rata)

About the Role

How you will make an impact

Key responsibilities include:
Scanning and generating Imprest orders, receiving and delivering stock to Imprest wards and processing invoices
Conducting expiry checks and ensuring stock is stored correctly and safely (predominantly pharmacy supplies)
Assisting as directed with EOFY stocktakes and rolling stocktakes as well as performing other warehouse duties as required
Manual handling will be required, lifting and moving items according to Workplace Health & Safety practices

About the role
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant (Renal), you will be responsible for the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care within the renal specialty, with a focus on achieving optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources while supporting and promoting the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care (SJGHC).
You will have direct responsibility for improving and maintaining standards of renal care, developing innovative solutions and delivering outcomes aligned with service priorities and organisational objectives. This includes monitoring clinical performance and outcomes, reviewing and developing renal policies and procedures, developing and delivering clinical education, supporting and implementing evidence-based changes to clinical practice, and initiating and contributing to research, innovation and quality improvement activities to enhance the quality, safety and effectiveness of renal services.

Key responsibilities

About the role
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant (Renal), you will be responsible for the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care within the renal specialty, with a focus on achieving optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources while supporting and promoting the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care (SJGHC).
You will have direct responsibility for improving and maintaining standards of renal care, developing innovative solutions and delivering outcomes aligned with service priorities and organisational objectives. This includes monitoring clinical performance and outcomes, reviewing and developing renal policies and procedures, developing and delivering clinical education, supporting and implementing evidence-based changes to clinical practice, and initiating and contributing to research, innovation and quality improvement activities to enhance the quality, safety and effectiveness of renal services.
This position will be offered on a permanent part-time basis, working 4 days per week between Monday to Friday. Hours are usually 8am - 4pm.

Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. Selection Criteria
- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse/ Midwife.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse that applies to an Aged Care & Rehab clinical setting
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and be able to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Current computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement person-centred practice.
- Demonstrated application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Grade 1 Scientist to join the Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology Research team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. In this role, you will support and coordinate clinical research activities across Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology, with opportunities to contribute to research across Breast, Plastics and Urology. Working closely with investigators, clinicians, research staff, patients, sponsors and regulatory bodies, you will support the delivery of clinical trials from patient screening and recruitment through to ongoing trial participation, data collection and study documentation. You will ensure research activities are conducted in accordance with approved study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ethical and regulatory requirements, while maintaining high standards of patient safety, confidentiality and data integrity. Your Responsibilities
You will:
Support the coordination and day-to-day conduct of clinical trials across Cardiothoracic and Surgical Oncology
Assist with patient screening, recruitment, informed consent and ongoing trial participation
Maintain accurate and timely patient, trial, laboratory and regulatory documentation
Coordinate the collection, processing and management of research specimens and study data
Prepare and manage ethics and governance submissions, amendments and associated documentation
Liaise with patients, investigators, sponsors, Human Research Ethics Committees (HREC), Governance and other internal and external stakeholders
Support safety reporting and ensure trial activities comply with approved protocols, GCP and relevant ethical and regulatory requirements

Your Contribution
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Science, Health Science or a related discipline
An interest in, or experience within, clinical research or clinical trials
