Are you looking for a Training Stage 1 position to develop your management of acutely unwell patients whilst receiving tailored support to complete ACEM’s Primary Examinations?
A Training Stage 1 position at Tamworth offers:
- 18 months ACEM accredited ED training
- Paid protected 10 hour education day every 2 weeks
- Local access to the well regarded Tamworth Primary Course (tamworthprimarycourse.com)
- Two-year contract
The role is suitable for Training Stage 1 Trainees enrolled in ACEM’s FACEM Training Program. Once you become a Stage 2-4 Trainee there are early access to six month Critical Care Terms in ANZCA accredited Anaesthetics term and CICM accredited ICU term.
Where you'll be working
Tamworth is a city of 60,000 with a great selection of schools and cafes. We are part of the Hunter New England Local Health District which stretches from the NSW coast to the Queensland border and along with the rest of HNELHD and Port Macquarie are Network 4 in HETI’s Emergency Medicine Training Network.
Come and have a true rural experience without giving up access to shopping, dining, and a great night out. There is an abundance of local sporting teams and clubs as well as numerous other social activities to keep you busy.
We are the regional referral centre providing trauma and critical care services to over 15 rural hospitals. The ED sees 45,000 presentations annually across all specialties and age groups. There are daily opportunities for procedural skills improvement in a supported environment with 12.8 full-time equivalent FACEM staff with FACEM staffing on-site from 0700 – 2400 seven days/week. The Westpac Helicopter Retrieval Service has a base in Tamworth and medical staffing consists mainly of local ED senior staff. There is a 6-month ACEM accredited retrieval medicine term available for suitably experienced registrars.

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is a major metropolitan teaching hospital. Patients can access a range of services including coronary care, intensive care, orthopaedics, general medicine, surgical, obstetric, respiratory, rehabilitation, paediatric, maternity and emergency care. The hospital also provides a wide range of outpatient services including allied health, dental and podiatry clinics, child, adolescent and family health, drug and alcohol, health promotion and rehabilitation and aged care. An acute mental health service is co-located at Hornsby Hospital. The new $265 million Stage 2 redevelopment was officially opened in June 2022.

Trainee Stage 1 – Emergency Medicine

This position offers accredited Emergency experience, up to 24 months, for trainees of relevant colleges (ACEM, CICM, RACP, RANZCOG, RACGP). This post would particularly suit ALL ACEM trainees, PT (TS1) and AT (TS2 to TS4), looking for experiences in a busy regional referral & trauma centre. It’s also catered for applicants wishing to develop a base line practical skill set in Emergency Medicine as our ED is ACEM-accredited for EM advanced qualifications (certificates and diplomas).
The contract for this position can be one or two years and our institution will be working to provide Critical Care terms and non-ED terms as individual requires. Available terms within OHS include General Medicine, Anaesthetic, Paediatrics, ICU and psychiatry. Secondments from ED will be discussed and managed by supervisors of training among all specialities. Rotations to tertiary EDs can also be negotiated. Responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice will be possible commensurate with level of expertise and experience.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). This position will be located at Blacktown Hospital within the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The Blacktown O&G Department is busy level 5 maternity unit currently providing service for close to 4200 deliveries per year. The outpatient maternity and acute birthing service are supported by a gynaecological service with several weekly clinics and daily operating lists. The current senior staffing profile is a combination of Staff specialist and visiting medical officers.
It's a RANZCOG accredited training site.
Appointees my be eligible for credentialing and limited clinical privileges across other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
Successful applicants will have knowledge and expertise in the management of high risk and complex pregnancies, above the level of the Generalist O&G specialist. Have obstetric ultrasound skills above the level of Generalist O&G specialist. Have demonstrated commitment to provision high quality pregnancy care for women with a background of disadvantage and deprivation.
Applicants must have Australian Fellowship/Specialist Registration at time of applying.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.

Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a dedicated Staff Specialist inHaematology (Haemostasis and Thrombosis)to join our team at Concord Repatriation General Hospital!
The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Clinical Haematology (Thrombosis and Haemostasis sub-speciality focus) and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Haematology Department and Hospital as required.
The Staff Specialist in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology will participate in provision of high-quality haematology outpatient and inpatient services. With a focus on sub-specialised thrombosis haemostasis and platelet disorders, the Staff Specialist will provide outpatient clinics, inpatient consultative service and research projects. The Staff Specialist will also contribute to SLHD thrombosis/haemostasis governance including supervision and further development of the Anticoagulation Stewardship program, anticoagulation guidelines and clinical trials, and recruit to translational research projects. They will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
The Staff Specialist in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology will work collaboratively with the Local Pathology Director at the Concord Repatriation General Hospital to expand the diagnostic Haematology service and operate within the NSW Health Pathology Laboratory services in accordance with their Scope of Clinical Practice and as directed through the NSW Health Pathology's Director of Clinical Operations, Local Pathology Director and NSW Health Pathology's Operations Director East.
The successful applicant will be a current registered Medical practitioner, registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia (FRCPA) with recognised qualifications in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
The position will be available from December 2026. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from this date, may be considered.

What You'll Be Doing
Young Health Service is seeking an experienced GP Obstetrician to join our maternity service as a Visiting Medical Officer.
This role provides a rewarding opportunity to deliver comprehensive obstetric care across the full continuum of maternity services, including antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, evidence-based maternity services for women and families throughout the Young region.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute specialist clinical expertise, participate in maternity governance activities, support service development, and provide education and mentorship to junior clinicians and healthcare staff where required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing high-quality antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
- Participating in the obstetric on-call roster.
- Attending and contributing to multidisciplinary maternity meetings.
- Supporting clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management activities.
- Collaborating with medical, midwifery and allied health teams to deliver coordinated care.
- Providing supervision, education and support to junior medical officers and other clinicians.

Remuneration
Remuneration is in accordance with the applicable NSW Health Visiting Medical Officer Award and contract arrangements.
Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) GP
Earn up to $247.30 per hour (GP rate plus practice rate), equivalent to approximately $474,816 plus superannuation for eligible contracts based on 40 hours per week over 48 weeks.
Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) Fee-for-Service and RDSP
Fee-for-Service and Rural Doctors Settlement Package arrangements are available where applicable.
Payments are determined under the relevant NSW Health Award and Public Hospitals VMO Determination.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a General Practitioner.
- Advanced procedural obstetric qualifications including DRANZCOG (Advanced), ARANZCOG, or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Experience as a Procedural General Practitioner providing obstetric services.
- Contemporary clinical knowledge and demonstrated competence in maternity care.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide clinical leadership.
- Commitment to teaching, professional development, quality improvement and clinical governance.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and respond on-site within a reasonable timeframe.

- Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner.
- Experience and formal recognition as a Procedural General Practitioner with advanced skills and DRANZCOG advanced or equivalent.

The primary purpose of the role of Visiting Medical Officer in Cardiology (Cardio-oncology) is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Cardiology and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Cardiology Department and Hospital as required.
The Visiting Medical Officer will provide expertise in cardiac non-invasive imaging and management of patients with cardio-oncology focus. The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
The successful applicant will be a current registered Medical practitioner, registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with recognised qualifications in Cardiology Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.

We are seeking a high-quality, dedicated and enthusiastic Advanced Trainee to join the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Paediatric Department and Youth Drug Health Service. This innovative 12-month position combines six months of accredited Advanced Training in General Paediatrics and six months in Adolescent Addiction Medicine, providing a unique opportunity to develop expertise across both acute paediatric care and adolescent health. The position is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for six months of General Paediatrics Advanced Training and six months of Community and Child Health/non-core Paediatric Advanced Training.
The primary function of this position is to provide high-quality, evidence-based clinical care under supervision to children and adolescents requiring inpatient, ambulatory and community-based medical services. During the General Paediatrics term, the trainee will gain broad exposure to acute and chronic paediatric conditions through inpatient, outpatient and virtual models of care. During the Adolescent Addiction Medicine term, the trainee will develop clinical, research and multidisciplinary expertise in the assessment and management of young people presenting with substance use disorders and associated medical, developmental and psychosocial complexities, including withdrawal management and relapse prevention.
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and one of Australia's leading tertiary hospitals. The Department of Paediatrics provides a comprehensive range of services, including a busy inpatient ward, Hospital in the Home program, acute review clinics, general paediatric outpatient services, medical support to the Parent Baby Unit and RPAVirtual, Australia's first virtual hospital. WSLHD - Provisional Fellow - Neonatology
Where you'll be working
Westmead Hospital is a key facility of one of Australia’s largest major health and medical research precincts and is the principal referral hospital for Western Sydney Local Health District providing district level health services to Parramatta, Holroyd and The Hills Shire LGAs including tertiary and quaternary services to greater Western Sydney, greater metropolitan Sydney, rural NSW and other states. The Westmead Health Precinct currently under development is envisaged to be the largest hospital building project undertaken in Western Sydney and will transform the iconic but ageing Westmead Hospital into an innovative, contemporary, and integrated centre that will continue to deliver high quality healthcare and expand the education, health, and research capability of the area.
Westmead Hospital is a leading centre of research, training and specialisation in all fields of Medicine and Dentistry, providing services in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Kidney and Pancreas transplantation, Cancer Care, Obstetrics and Gynaecology including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Neonatal Intensive Care, Trauma, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Critical Care, Aged Care and Rehabilitation, Adult Acute Psychiatry (networked with the co-located Cumberland Hospital) as well as other specialised medical and surgical services.
Westmead Hospital is also the principal referral centre for other metropolitan hospitals within the district including Auburn Hospital, Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital.
The Westmead Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is the largest in NSW with 24 intensive care beds and 20 special care beds. The department admits over 1,500 newborns per year of which approximately 450 require airway support and 150 are born at less than 32 weeks gestation. The NICU has a strong relationship with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine team and the University of Sydney. Westmead Hospital delivers newborns who have complex surgical and cardiac conditions who are transferred to the co-located Children’s Hospital at Westmead for subspecialist treatment after initial stabilisation. Westmead Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit also receives ex-utero neonatal transfers from across NSW and within the district. The department is very active in teaching, clinical practice improvement and research. Westmead NICU offers comprehensive supervised training in clinician performed neonatal ultrasound to interested candidates. The department provides training in neurodevelopmental follow-up to high risk NICU graduates in a multidisciplinary clinic, up to the age of 5 years.
What you'll be doing
WSLHD - Provisional Fellow - Neonatology
· Participate in the supervision of Neonatal Trainees as they provide all aspects of care for infants within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Special Care Nursery and Maternity Ward under the supervision of the Staff Specialists.
· Undertake clinical responsibilities on a rotational basis across NICU, SCN, Growth and Development Clinic and other outpatient clinics such as short term follow-up of recently discharged patients and antenatal consultations for women with expected high risk delivery.
· Attend ward rounds ensuring at least daily entries in the electronic medical notes are completed. In the NICU, a Staff Specialist and Fellow will usually undertake twice daily ward rounds with medical and nursing staff and a once daily round in the SCN.
· Provide and supervise clinical care including admission, physical examination, performance of clinical procedures, formulation of investigation and management plan, review of progress, and completion and checking of discharge summaries
· Perform technical procedures including basic and advanced neonatal resuscitation, intravenous cannulation, insertion of peripheral arterial lines, lumbar puncture, suprapubic aspiration of urine, endotracheal intubation, and insertion of chest drains.
· Develop competency in exchange transfusion, insertion of umbilical lines, and insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters.
· Participate in the first on call roster. A Provisional Fellow or Senior Registrar is usually first on call for clinical advice and emergency call back, with a Staff Specialist second on call and available. Rostered shifts are required when first on call for weekends, and rostered evening shifts may be required to meet service needs.
· Attend outpatient consultations in department clinics and complete follow-up report writing under the supervision of a Staff Specialist
· Participate in the implementation of new practices aimed at improving the quality of care provided within the department, including the development of new guidelines according to best evidence
· Participate actively in quality improvement, morbidity and mortality review, and peer review activities within the hospital.
· Participate actively in clinical or laboratory research relevant to the department and neonatal medicine
· Participate and assist in the planning and delivery of appropriate education and training in neonatal medicine, including information sessions for parents.

Training Opportunities
Applicants for this position are usually seeking experience in a very busy tertiary perinatal unit, with a view to a future career in neonatology. Applicants have the opportunity to develop clinical skills in bedside neonatal ultrasound. Provisional fellows will also gain valuable experience in developmental assessment and follow-up of high risk graduates from the NICU. Research opportunities will be offered to successful applicants.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Minimum 12 months recent tertiary neonatal experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Australia or New Zealand or an equivalent overseas large well-equipped NICU.
- Minimum five years post graduate experience
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and educate junior medical staff and medical students in neonatal/ perinatal medicine

About the role

Conduct comprehensive developmental, behavioural, medical and psychosocial assessments

Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
Build therapeutic relationships through culturally safe and trauma-informed practice
Contribute to quality improvement, research and service evaluation in paediatrics

License: Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia and willingness to use for work purposes across district
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated high level of knowledge and advanced clinical paediatric nursing skills including comprehensive assessment, interpretation of diagnostics, implementation of treatment modalities and relevant referral skills applied to a range of challenging, complex, changing environments
Demonstrated competence in use and prescribing of medication for general paediatric conditions, or developmental and behavioural conditions.
Proven high level knowledge and expertise in complex client centred consultancy, practice development activities including mentoring education, policy development and quality improvement.
Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability while also working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and multi service environment.
Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of clinical settings. This includes experience working effectively with families from differing psychosocial, socioeconomic and /or culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, including applying a trauma-informed lens to clinical care provision
Demonstrated experience in working with, escalating and managing child protection concerns.

What You Will Be Doing

With access to fleet vehicles, you will travel across the region to:
- Provide education, training and support across multiple sites and services.
- Support a broad range of staff including nursing, allied health and administration teams.
- Facilitate mandatory education and support staff to maintain required competencies.
- Identify learning needs and provide targeted education and upskilling.
- Deliver service-specific education to support clinical practice and workforce capability.
- Assist with clinical competencies, assessment and ongoing staff development.
- Participate in audits and use findings to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Build strong relationships with staff and services across the Hunter Valley.
- Work collaboratively with the established CNE to coordinate and deliver education across the region.
