We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 to join the First Steps Parenting Centre at Wallsend Health Campus.
First Steps provides specialised support to vulnerable parents, infants and young children during the first three years of life, with a focus on early intervention, child development, parenting and family wellbeing.
This rewarding community-based role is primarily delivered through home visits, with clinic-based appointments and a weekly outreach clinic at St Phillips Young Parents College.
You will build meaningful relationships with families, providing tailored education, practical strategies and support to strengthen parental confidence, promote healthy development and improve outcomes for children.
Your role
You will provide comprehensive assessment, education and support across a range of complex child and family needs, including:
- Complex sleep and settling.
- Complex feeding concerns.
- Child development and developmental monitoring, including ASQ and ASQ-SE.
- Postnatal mental health and parent wellbeing.
- Domestic and family violence.
- Parenting and behavioural concerns, including the use of approaches such as Marte Meo.
- Child protection and safeguarding.
- Referral and care coordination with appropriate health and community services.
Working with Families and Services
You will facilitate groups including Circle of Security, PND and Self-Compassion, helping parents build confidence and strengthen relationships with their children.
Working closely with families and services including DCJ, Child Wellbeing Unit, Family Support Services, Speech Pathology and Dental Services, you will coordinate referrals and support families to access the right services at the right time.
Your Skills and Experience.
We are looking for a positive, motivated clinician who is passionate about working with children and families and can build trusting relationships with people experiencing complex circumstances.
You will bring:
- Strong clinical experience working with children, parents and families.
- Knowledge of child development, parenting and family wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Confidence working with vulnerable families and complex needs.
- Commitment to family-centred, evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
Essential Criteria:
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Child and Family Health Nursing.
- Minimum three years’ experience working in Child and Family Health Nursing.

About the Role
Community Mental Health Services provide a range of services designed to help support the recovery and help consumer stay well in the community. The team provide specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers and Peer Support Workers. The Community Mental Health Team provides a comprehensive range of services designed to support recovery and promote sustainable community living for people experiencing mental illness. The Community Mental Health Team (CORE Team) is the mainstay of the Community Mental Health System. The multidisciplinary team includes Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Psychiatrists and Peer Support Workers. Together, we provide a range of clinical services, including intake, comprehensive assessment, care coordination, consultation, and tailored treatment for priority adult populations with mental illness.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty through the delivery of specialist consultant service which:
- Develops implements and evaluates care management plans for patients with complex health needs.
- Provides leadership in the ongoing development of clinical practice.
- Initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services.
- Contributes to the development and delivery of specialty related education programs.

Ideal Candidate

The Mental Health Ambulance and Police Project (MHAPP) Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will provide a highly mobile, recovery orientated clinical assessment, consultancy and support to NSW Ambulance and Police managing mental health related cases in the community. They will also provide clinical leadership in virtual assessment of consumers in the community who are geographically isolated.
The MHAPP CNC works with NSW Ambulance and Police to provide mental health triage, primary consumer assessment and management of complex mental health emergencies and crises at an advanced level. The position holder will be required to possess extensive knowledge of mental health disorders and demonstrated clinical practices to provide support, treatment, coordination and education to emergency services who work with consumers with complex mental and physical health needs. The position may be based in one of a number of locations for their shifts, including the Wollongong, Shellharbour and Nowra regions.
The CNC will establish and maintain communication with all relevant Medical Practitioners, Nursing and Allied Health Professionals, will assist in the organisation and participate in the multidisciplinary team meetings, and maintain a close liaison with Community Health Services.

Role Specific Benefits.
The HIRAID® Inpatient CNC is responsible for delivering and monitoring of the project across ISLHD under the guidance of Dr. Baylie Trostian and Prof. Kate Curtis. They will be the clinical liaison, working closely with ward CNCs and CNEs to evaluate HIRAID® and collect data from patients, clinicians and medical records. The HIRAID® Inpatient CNC in consultation with the inpatient ward CNEs will provide support and drive the HIRAID® education where required. Training and support will be provided by researchers at The University of Sydney and Dr. Baylie Trostian. The role requires an experienced nurse, with attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated excellence in education and training, an understanding of data collection and knowledge of the ISLHD clinical and administrative systems. To ensure that HIRAID® Inpatient is fit-for-purpose, a comprehensive understanding of acute hospital inpatient nursing practice is needed.

About the role
Join our supportive maternity team in Wagga Wagga and provide safe, evidence-based, woman-centred care throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. Working in partnership with women, families and multidisciplinary teams, you will play a vital role in delivering positive health outcomes and exceptional maternity care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive midwifery care, including assessment, care planning, education, monitoring and evaluation of outcomes.
- Provide safe, responsive care during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period, escalating and coordinating care when required.

The Role
We’re currently looking for a qualified Registered Nurse currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and at least one full year of nursing experience.
The Registered Nurse performs reception screening and comprehensive health assessments on persons received into custody whilst assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing management.
Our Location
The South Coast Correctional Centre (SCCC) is a 1050-bed facility that houses male offenders in minimum, medium, and maximum-security areas, usually those sentenced locally and/or with family and community ties. The SCCC is in South Nowra, approximately 168km south of Sydney and 5km from the Nowra CBD. The SCCC provides accommodation for inmates as well as services and programs for recreation, education, and employment.

About the Role
The Department of Colorectal Surgery provides specialist colorectal surgical services across Sydney Local Health District and delivers care to patients from metropolitan Sydney, rural New South Wales, and interstate. The service also provides a 24-hour colorectal consultation service for inpatients and plays an integral role in the provision of acute colorectal, general surgery and trauma care.

6 East 1 is a friendly and supportive team providing care across renal medicine, rheumatology, immunology and endocrinology, with opportunities to work across both the inpatient ward and inpatient renal dialysis unit. This role involves working on a roster with 8-hour shifts.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient centred; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the National Immunisation Program, vaccine administration, vaccine preventable diseases, cold chain management and adverse events following immunisation.
- Current immunisation accreditation/competency in accordance with relevant Australian requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in administering vaccinations and strong clinical assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a small team of professionals and to assist colleagues within the Public Health Unit to ensure collaboration.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
