What You'll Be Doing

As an Orthopaedic Nurse Consultant in NALHN you will provide specialist clinical consultation and evidence-based guidance across the orthopaedic patient journey. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering advanced clinical assessment and care planning for orthopaedic patients across acute and peri-operative settings
• Acting as a clinical resource and point of expertise for nursing and multidisciplinary teams
• Provision of education to nursing and multidisciplinary teams
• Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and supporting best-practice orthopaedic care standards within NALHN
• Facilitating timely discharge planning and coordination with allied health and surgical teams

What You'll Bring

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
• Substantial post-registration experience in an orthopaedic or surgical nursing context
• Demonstrated ability to work at a consultant or advanced practice level within a complex health environment
• Strong skills in clinical assessment, care coordination, and interdisciplinary communication
• Familiarity with SA Health policy frameworks, clinical governance, and patient safety standards
• Proven ability to mentor and support nursing staff in a busy public hospital setting

To be eligible for this position, you must be Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
