About the Role
We're looking for a passionate and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Slade Pharmacy Burnside, located within the highly regarded Burnside Hospital in Toorak Gardens. This is a full-time fixed-term contract until 31 January 2028, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in a supportive hospital environment.
This role is ideal for pharmacists seeking to build or expand their clinical skillset while maintaining flexibility. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred pharmacy services.
You'll be responsible for conducting medication chart reviews, providing medication counselling, supporting therapeutic decision-making, and contributing to medication safety initiatives. You'll also have the opportunity to coordinate chemotherapy supply for day oncology patients using Charm and participate in clinical trials.

As Burnside Hospital operates seven days per week, this role will participate in a roster that includes weekend and public holiday shifts. Roster arrangements will be discussed with shortlisted candidates during the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to allocated wards, including medication chart reviews, reconciliation, and documentation of allergies and adverse drug reactions.
- Provide timely, evidence-based advice to medical, nursing, and allied health staff on the safe and effective use of medicines.
- Counsel patients and carers to ensure understanding of prescribed therapies and promote medication adherence.
- Support the safe and ethical use of medicines, including investigational and compassionate supply medications.
- Identify and resolve medication-related problems in collaboration with prescribers.
- Contribute to medication safety initiatives, quality improvement projects, and audits.
- Assist with the training and supervision of technicians.
- Maintain clinical knowledge through ongoing education, training, and participation in professional development activities.
- Dispense and supply medication and pharmacy products, including clinical trials.
- Use Charm to coordinate and organise the supply of chemotherapy for the day oncology unit patients.
About You
You're a motivated and collaborative pharmacist who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Whether you're an experienced hospital pharmacist or transitioning from community pharmacy, you're eager to grow your clinical skills in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
- General registration as a Pharmacist with AHPRA.
- Availability to participate in a roster that includes weekend and public holiday shifts as part of a seven-day hospital service.
- Previous experience dispensing medication in an Australian or New Zealand based community or hospital pharmacy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to prioritise workload, manage time effectively and work independently.
- Commitment to the quality use of medicines and evidence-based practice.
- A proactive approach to learning and professional development.
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with PBS, SAS, MAP, DVA or other funding schemes.
- Involvement in quality improvement initiatives, audits or clinical trials.
- Membership with professional bodies such as AdPha, COSA, or ISOPP.

About the Pharmacy Operations Team
The Pharmacy Operations team comprises both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and plays a vital role in the delivery of core pharmacy services to both inpatients and outpatients across Alfred Care Group. About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated senior supervisory pharmacy technician to join the dynamic Operational team at the Alfred Care Group.
The Senior Supervisory Pharmacy Technician - Inpatients is an integral member of the Operations team, responsible for providing support within the Operational Service. This includes managing the day-to-day operations associated with inpatient pharmacy services across the Alfred Care Group. You will work closely with the Senior Pharmacist - Inpatients to supervise and develop staff working in the area to ensure safe and timely medication supply. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the broader Operations team to optimise workflows and patient outcomes.

The LGH Pharmacy Department is an accredited Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) Resident Training Program Site. The Resident Training Program is a 2-year structured workplace training program designed to support pharmacists to develop their practice from general practice towards Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) Pharmacist Resident recognition. The Role
Work as a part of the relevant LGH’s Pharmacy Department and Pharmacy Team to provide a comprehensive, efficient, and accountable pharmacy service for hospital inpatients and outpatients.
Pharmacists in this service:
- Dispense medications for inpatient, outpatient, and discharge supply, in accordance with all legal requirements, and work within the parameters of the various medication access schemes available in public hospitals including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, the Special Access Scheme, Section 100, Clinical Trials, and Early Access Schemes.
- Routinely offer verbal and written medicines information and other supporting health advice to patients.
- Provide information on medications to hospital staff and contribute to the development of their knowledge of medication related issues.
- Rotate through areas of the health service, including Dispensary, emergency care, surgical and medical inpatients, rehabilitation and sub-acute care, oncology, and remote care.
- Have access to ongoing professional development and the opportunity to complete the AdPha Residency Program
This role is suited to experienced pharmacists only. Intern Pharmacists are encouraged to apply for our Intern Pharmacist program which will open for applications in May 2027.
You will need
- Pharmacy experience in a range of activities such as dispensing or clinical pharmacy, preferably in a hospital setting, together with experience in the application of relevant legislation, codes of practice and workplace guidelines in the practice of pharmacy.
- An understanding of (and preferably experience with) the frameworks used to guide and develop clinical pharmacy services, such as the APAC Guidelines, Pharmaceutical Review, and Medication Management Review programs (e.g., HMR and DMMR).
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the application of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
Experienced overseas-trained Pharmacist - To be considered, you must hold Provisional Registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and require less than six months (900 hours) of supervised practice to obtain full registration.

Details of appointment
Multiple permanent full time and part time, shift worker positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary
$81,614 to $117,074 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025
Salary Packaging
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,529 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is applicable to this role

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered

- Pharmacists will work at any site within Pharmacy Services or at specified locations of other nominated health providers such as Mental Health Services within the region in which the incumbent is employed
