The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
This contract will commence from 1 February 2027 and end on 6 February 2028.
About Our Role
Our Unaccredited Trainees in Orthopaedic Surgery provide effective clinical management of orthopaedics surgical patients, under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. Doctors are key members that work closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deal with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.
Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the doctor’s skills, knowledge and experience. The medical officer will be expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to their experience, under the guidance of and at the discretion of the appropriate Attending Medical Officer (AMO). All patients managed within the hospitals of the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.
Your Primary Location
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Services is a major teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre based on the Randwick Hospitals Campus. We provide excellent healthcare to SESLHD and specialist health and medical services to NSW. We connect with various universities including the University of New South Wales. Our premier medical facilities enable leading learning opportunities for our staff, with the Randwick Campus Redevelopment providing a world-class integrated environment for clinical care, research and education.
We have 450 inpatient beds and almost 3,000 staff. Each year we care for more than 64,000 patients in our Emergency Department and around 50,000 patients are admitted to our Hospital. We also have a busy outpatient service and rural outreach service and provide more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year.
Randwick is a metropolitan hub in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. We have a vibrant, multicultural community, with diverse dining options and regular entertainment hosted by our local council. For those fond of coastal living, we are a walk away from Coogee Beach. A short drive takes you to the famous Bondi Beach and Centennial Parklands. Cycling paths and public transport are readily available, with Sydney’s light rail connecting the campus to Sydney’s CBD just 7 kilometres away.
Perks and Benefits
Come enjoy a blend of urban convenience and relaxed coastal living at Randwick and:
Four weeks of annual leave + an extra Allocated Day Off (ADO) per month.
Other leave including parental leave, FACS leave, and study & education leave.
Salary Packaging, a way to pay for certain items with your pre-tax salary.
Wellbeing initiatives such as the Employee Assistance Program.
Fitness Passport, a discounted fitness membership for access to nearly 1600 gyms, pools and fitness centres across Australia.
Quality learning and development, research opportunities, and more.
SESLHD is committed to creating a workplace that reflects the diversity of our community. This will help ensure our employees, our patients, and their carers feel supported. We encourage people from different backgrounds to apply.
We welcome applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates and have an Aboriginal Employment Consultant who can support you. If you have any questions or would like guidance on the recruitment process, contact the SESLHD Aboriginal Employment Team via [email protected].

Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services, including willingness to move between services and geographical locations to deliver patient care.
Demonstrated ongoing commitment to further self-education and professional development.
