- Full-time
Greencross Chatswood is looking for a Veterinary Director to lead an established team and help shape the next chapter of our clinic.
Located in the heart of Chatswood and co-located with Petbarn, our modern, well-equipped practice has built a loyal client base and a strong reputation within the local community. Every day brings variety, with a diverse caseload and a team that genuinely enjoys working together.
You'll be joining four veterinarians and seven nurses whose experience spans nearly three decades of veterinary practice through to clinicians in the early stages of their careers. That mix creates a fantastic environment for mentoring, collaboration and professional growth. Knowledge is shared freely, support is readily available, and development is actively encouraged.
The clinic itself is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, dental radiography, an in house laboratory, dedicated surgical facilities, and separate dog and cat wards and consult rooms. We see a broad range of GP cases, including a surprising amount of wildlife work. There is also plenty of scope to pursue special interests, introduce new ideas and help shape the services we offer.
What makes this opportunity particularly rewarding is the balance of autonomy and support. You'll have the chance to influence the direction of the clinic while being backed by a wider network of experienced Veterinary Directors and Clinical Leaders across NSW. This includes Dr Russell Barnett, NSW Central Regional Clinical Director, whose passion for mentoring veterinarians and developing future leaders makes him an invaluable source of guidance and support.
As Veterinary Director, you'll combine hands on veterinary work with the opportunity to shape the culture, development and future direction of the clinic. Working closely with the Practice Manager, you'll help create an environment where people feel supported, valued and empowered to do their best work.
A significant part of your impact will come through developing the team around you. Some days might involve discussing a challenging case, guiding a less experienced vet through a procedure, or helping the team identify opportunities for development. On others, you'll be focused on strengthening clinical standards, building client relationships, contributing to clinic performance, or exploring new services and areas of interest that support the clinic's continued growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing clinical leadership, guidance and support to veterinarians and nurses
- Mentoring team members at different stages of their careers
- Fostering a positive, collaborative and high performing team culture
- Partnering with the Practice Manager to drive clinic success
- Supporting clinical governance and standards of care
- Building strong client relationships and contributing to clinic growth
- Helping shape the future direction of the clinic
This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact on both people and patients while being supported by a strong leadership network and encouraged to bring your own leadership style, ideas and clinical interests to the role.
At Greencross Chatswood you'll enjoy:
- Leading an experienced and supportive team of four veterinarians and seven nurses
- A varied caseload, including wildlife presentations
- A modern, well equipped clinic with digital radiography, ultrasound, dental radiography, an in house laboratory and dedicated surgical facilities
- Strong referral pathways and a fantastic relationship with the Petbarn team
- Access to a network of Veterinary Directors and Clinical Leaders across NSW and Australia
- Ongoing CPD, leadership development and study support
- Annual Greencross Clinical Conference, VetEducation and VetWebinars
- Flexible rostering and genuine work life balance support
- Generous employee discounts across Greencross, Petbarn and Royal Canin
- Employee Assistance Program and Fitness Passport
We're looking for a veterinarian who:
- Holds a Veterinary degree recognised in Australia and is eligible for registration in NSW
- Has strong clinical skills and a commitment to excellent patient care
- Enjoys mentoring and developing others
- Is passionate about building positive team culture
- Communicates effectively and leads with empathy and professionalism
- Values collaboration, continuous improvement and lifelong learning
Previous leadership experience is highly regarded. Equally important is a passion for nurturing people, supporting professional growth, and helping veterinarians and nurses at every stage of their career reach their potential.
