Position details
The Team
Set near a picturesque Tasmanian coastline, the North West Regional Hospital, Burnie is a 160-bed facility and is the principal referral centre for the North West Tasmanian community and provides general medicine, surgical (including orthopaedic), intensive care, cancer services, paediatric services, outpatient clinics and specialist services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive training.
The NWRH Operating Theatre is a vibrant, supportive team consisting of four operating theatres providing Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, General Surgery, ENT, Endoscopy and Dental services. NWRH Operating Theatre is committed to a positive workplace culture, and excellent clinical care within a supportive environment.
The Role
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) in the Perioperative Theatre at North West Regional Hospital is accountable for applying nursing expertise and contemporary teaching and learning practice to implement education programs for nurses that align with the strategic priorities of Hospitals North West, respond to emerging clinical need and facilitates professional development for the nursing workforce.
- Leads safe and quality nursing care through the advancement of evidence-based nursing practice and patient-centred care in an area of clinical and professional speciality.
- Applies high level professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing, midwifery and multidisciplinary stakeholders to enact education and development strategies for nursing and midwifery practice and the Organisation.
- Plans, assesses, implements and evaluates educational programs to ensure they align with the needs of the Organisation and nursing workforce.
- Models' commitments to the values of the nursing profession including open communication to build respectful relationships across the multidisciplinary team and has accountability, integrity, and contributes to positive workplace culture.
- Works in accordance with the strategic direction of Hospitals North West and the Organisations Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Framework.
You will need:
- Extensive experience in the perioperative environment either in anaesthetics nursing, post anaesthetic care unit (PACU) or the Scrub Scout role across the specialties of trauma, orthopaedics and general surgery.
- Lead and deliver innovative nursing education programs that support clinical excellence and patient-centred care.
- Mentor and develop nurses through clinical teaching, supervision and evidence-based professional development.
- Influence workforce capability, quality improvement and best-practice outcomes as part of a clinical leadership team.

Permanent, part time, day worker, working 16 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join us.

Salary
$118,297 to $125,543 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.

- Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing and/or education and/or clinical teaching and learning.

The Team
The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provides important health and wellbeing services to families across Tasmania with children aged 0 to 5. The service promotes the healthy development and wellbeing of children, providing growth and developmental assessments, health-focused early intervention, referrals and connections with other early childhood providers.
The CHaPS Residential Parenting Unit (lilinga) supports early intervention and support to families to navigate the adjustments and broad range of challenges that can arise during early parenting, equipping them with the confidence, knowledge and tools needed to support family wellbeing.
lilinga means Tasmanian Myrtle Beech (Nothofagus cunninghamii) in palawa kani, the language of Tasmanian Aborigines.
The Role
The lilinga Clinical Nurse Specialist ensures delivery of comprehensive care to admitted families, working alongside the multidisciplinary team. The Clinical Nurse Specialist develops, implements, and evaluates care plans in partnership with families, with a focus on early parenting challenges, infant sleep, family and parenting routines and communications, and infant/toddler mental health and wellbeing.
You will need
- Demonstrated experience and/or qualification in early parenting support, along with a strong understanding of primary healthcare principles.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, and form strong partnerships with families, to provide integrated and co-ordinated care.
- Expertise in evidence-based primary healthcare interventions relevant to infant/toddler behaviours, infant sleep, infant mental health, and responsive parenting practices.

The Trainee will effectively be required to assess trauma patients appropriately in the Emergency Department and then carry out basic trauma care in the operating theatres under consultant supervision. The Trainee will be an important part of a unit, also charged with the supervision of interns and junior medical officers. Preparation of clinical material for weekly department meetings will be necessary, as well as participation in quarterly audit meetings including the collection and presentation of data. Teaching and training of junior staff as well as nursing and allied health may be required during the year.
What you'll be doing
- Assessing trauma patients appropriately in the Emergency Department and then carry out basic trauma care in the operating theatres under supervision.
- Assisting with orthopaedic elective work performed at the hospital.
- Reviewing and managing patients in outpatient clinics including preadmission clinic for elective surgery, orthopaedic fracture and wound review clinics, virtual and telehealth clinics; and a range of elective clinics including the high risk foot clinic.
- Initial assessment of the patient: this consists of ensuring a complete and documented comprehensive patient history, physical examination and the formulating of a management plan and ordering appropriate investigations.
- Participating in overtime rosters and an after hour oncall roster including weekends.

- Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital and a regional trauma centre serving a local population of over 300,000.
- The unit provides service to a busy regional trauma centre supporting both elective and trauma surgery under the supervision of the Orthopaedic Consultants. Elective work performed at the hospital includes major joint replacement, spine surgery and arthroscopy.

Essential requirements
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- At least three years' postgraduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent).

- Sufficient clinical experience in order to undertake the key accountabilities for this role

- Maintain strong partnerships with internal teams, the McGrath Foundation and external organisations, while ensuring accurate data collection, reporting, governance and accountability for clinical practice outcomes.

Cabrini Nuclear Medicine and PET Department
The Cabrini Nuclear Medicine and PET Department provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to both inpatient and outpatient populations. Equipped with two Nuclear Medicine cameras (SPECT/CT) and a new Digital PET camera , the department delivers high-quality imaging to support a wide range of clinical needs.
The department performs a full suite of Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging studies, supporting specialties including oncology, cardiology, and neurology. In addition to diagnostic imaging, Cabrini offers a variety of targeted therapies such as radioactive iodine (I-131) for thyroid disease, Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT), OncoBeta therapy for non-melanoma skin cancers, and Theranostic treatments using Lu-177 PSMA for prostate cancer.
Cabrini Nuclear Medicine and PET is also actively involved in numerous clinical trials, contributing to advancements in cancer care, heart disease evaluation, and neurological imaging.
How you will make an impact:
We are seeking a dynamic Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our comprehensive Nuclear Medicine and PET Department at Cabrini Malvern.
Working within a supportive and collaborative environment, you will perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to a high professional standard. Key responsibilities include conducting imaging examinations, assisting with the efficient daily operation of the department, contributing to quality control and assurance programs, and participating in the departmental on-call roster. Previous PET experience is desirable, and this role offers the opportunity to be part of an innovative team dedicated to excellence in patient care and imaging.

- Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Radiation) in Nuclear Medicine Technology or accepted equivalent
- Registration with AHPRA
- Current Radiation Use Licence (Department of Health)

Cabrini Palliative Care Medicine
The Advanced Trainee in Palliative Care will work under the direction of the Director of Palliative Medicine and will gain exposure to, and experience in, the delivery of high-quality inpatient palliative care at Cabrini Malvern.
This role provides opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills in symptom management, whole-person care, advanced communication, psychosocial assessment, ethical decision-making in end-of-life care, and interdisciplinary teamwork. The trainee will also develop advanced knowledge and skills in pharmacology and prescribing.
The Advanced Trainee will be expected to contribute to the ongoing education, research and quality assurance programme as directed by the consultants in palliative medicine, contribute to a vibrant research program, participate in education within the framework of the Mission, Values, and Vision, and the Behaviours that Matter to Cabrini.
This is an onsite role covering 43 hours per week Monday to Friday.
How you will make an impact
- Admission of all new patients to the palliative care ward.
- Day to day clinical management of palliative care inpatients.
- Management of prescribing, discharge planning, and key administrative activities pertaining to patient care.
- Communication with patients, their families and relevant health care staff.
- Participating and contributing to quality processes and protocols.
- Actively and regularly participating in peer review patient related activities.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 Infection Prevention & Control is an experienced registered nurse authorised to function with an extended autonomy of clinical decision-making within Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C).
The Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Specialist will apply an extended level of professional / clinical knowledge and judgement in the delivery and leadership of complex specialty nursing care through their advanced clinical skills and authorised extended scope of practice.
The Infection prevention and Control Nurse Specialist provides clinical leadership that facilitates the ongoing development and evaluation of clinical practice within the Infection Prevention and Control Specialty.
What you'll be doing

CNS’ are employed according to the criteria outlined below, and in line with the NSW Public Health System Nurses and Midwives (State) Award. 'Clinical Nurse Specialist/Clinical Midwife Specialist Grade 2" means: a Registered Nurse/Midwife appointed to a position classified as such with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 classification encompasses the Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 1 role criteria and is distinguished from a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 1 by the following additional role characteristics:
- Exercises extended autonomy of decision making.
- Exercises professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills and undertakes one of the following roles:
- leadership in the development of nursing specialty clinical practice and service delivery in the ward/unit/service or;
- specialist clinical practice across a small or medium sized health facility/sector/service; or
- primary case management of a complete episode of care; or
- primary case management of a continuum of specialty care involving both inpatient and community based services or;
- an authorised extended role within the scope of Registered Nurse practice.
Incremental progression to the second year and thereafter rate will be upon completion of 12 months satisfactory full-time service (or pro rata part time service).
The ideal candidate will have:
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Relevant post graduate qualifications in Infection Prevention and Control and at least 3 years recent experience working in Infection Prevention and Control, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues and problem solve through the development and use of clinical management plans.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making while working as part of a multidisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Demonstrated skills in the development & facilitation of staff, patient and carer education.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation and evidence of leadership in safety and quality innovation.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of health-related information technology.

About the Role
Join our experienced and dynamic Speech Pathology team at Monash Children’s Hospital, providing evidence-based care to infants, children and adolescents across a growing tertiary paediatric service.
You’ll work across inpatient and outpatient services, with a diverse caseload spanning communication and swallowing, general paediatrics, neonatal care and Monash Children’s in the Home.
This is a great opportunity to broaden your paediatric experience while contributing to student education, service development, quality improvement, teaching and research within a highly supportive multidisciplinary team.
The service operates Monday to Friday, with cross-site work, local travel for Monash Children’s in the Home and participation in the Clayton weekend roster required.
About Us
Monash Children’s Hospital is one of Australia’s leading providers of integrated children’s health services, with more than 30 specialist services and programs. We have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading paediatric services in many areas including Rehabilitation & Oncology. Allied Health at Monash Children’s Hospital provides specialised services to paediatric patients across the continuum including inpatients, outpatients and via Hospital in the Home.
About You
To thrive in this role you will bring:
- At least 2 years’ experience in acute paediatric Speech Pathology
- Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- A collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary paediatric team
- Enthusiasm for delivering high-quality, evidence-based care
Mandatory requirements:
- Relevant Speech Pathology qualification or recognised equivalent, including overseas qualifications assessed by Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) within the past two years
- Eligibility for Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) membership with SPA
