- Providing parenting support and advocacy
- Supporting families to navigate the NDIS and other complex service systems
- Connecting families with community services, housing, material aid and other practical supports
- Assessing and responding to risk in partnership with families and relevant services
- Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated, child and family-centred care
You’ll work across community sites and provide outreach as required, giving you the opportunity to support children and families within the communities in which they live.
About the Program

The program also includes Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies (HMHB) and works closely with health, education and community services to provide integrated support for families.
About You
You are an experienced and compassionate Social Worker who is passionate about supporting children, families and communities. You’re confident working with psychosocial complexity and understand that improving a child’s health and wellbeing often means looking beyond their immediate clinical needs to the broader circumstances affecting their family.
You will bring:
- A Bachelor or qualifying Master of Social Work, or equivalent qualification recognised by the AASW
- Eligibility for ordinary membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Experience in psychosocial assessment, intervention, counselling and care coordination
- Experience working with vulnerable or at-risk children and families, including refugee and culturally diverse communities
- Knowledge of complex service systems including NDIS, family violence and Child Protection
- Strong risk assessment, communication and advocacy skills

Why Join Us?
Social work can make an extraordinary difference to a child’s health — particularly when families are navigating challenges that extend far beyond the healthcare system.
In the Child & Family Program, you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with children and families and help address the practical, social and systemic barriers affecting their health and wellbeing. You’ll join an experienced multidisciplinary team where Social Work is an important part of the bigger picture — bringing a psychosocial perspective, advocating for families and helping connect them with the right support at the right time.
You’ll also have opportunities to:
- Work across a diverse and rewarding paediatric and community caseload
- Further develop your specialist child and family Social Work practice
- Work alongside experienced clinicians from a broad range of disciplines
- Contribute to quality improvement, education and service development
- Access professional supervision and ongoing learning opportunities
