Your part in our UnitingCare team
In this rewarding role, you'll provide counselling and therapeutic support to children, young people, adults, families and groups. You'll work with clients experiencing a range of concerns, including:
- Family and relationship challenges
- Separation and divorce
- Parenting and family wellbeing
- Domestic and family violence
- Sexual abuse and child abuse
- Grief and loss
- Trauma and recovery
You'll undertake assessments, provide counselling and referrals, participate in case reviews, facilitate group support and education, and advocate for clients to support positive outcomes.
What makes a difference for us?
- A bachelor's degree (or higher) in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services or Behavioural Science
- Experience providing counselling and therapeutic interventions within a community or human services setting
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based and recovery-focused practice
- Experience working with children, young people and families
- Strong communication, advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience facilitating groups and educational programs (highly regarded)
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- A current Driver License and Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
Membership or eligibility for membership with APS, PACFA, ACA, AASW or FCA will be highly regarded

Your part in our UnitingCare team
This is a rewarding and challenging role where you will have a significant opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children, young people, carers and families. The purpose of this role is to provide trauma-informed therapeutic assessment, intervention and case coordination for Professional Foster Care families and the children and young people in their care. You will contribute to the delivery of an innovative family-based care model designed to improve safety, wellbeing, cultural connection and placement stability.
In this role you will:
- Support the recruitment, assessment, induction, training and ongoing development of Professional Foster Carers.
- Receive and assess placement referrals and participate in matching children and young people with suitable care placements.
- Provide therapeutic case management, care coordination and ongoing placement support to carers, children and young people.
- Develop and review Professional Foster Care Plans and therapeutic support strategies that promote positive outcomes and placement stability.
- Deliver trauma-informed therapeutic interventions that strengthen emotional regulation, attachment, safety and wellbeing.
- Coach and support carers to implement therapeutic, relationship-based approaches within the home environment.
- Facilitate care team meetings, case reviews and collaborative planning with key stakeholders.
- Build effective partnerships with Child Safety, education, health, disability and community service providers.
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports and compliance documentation in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding, risk and placement concerns, contributing to effective support and risk mitigation strategies.
- Participate in supervision, reflective practice, professional development and after-hours on-call arrangements as required.
What makes a difference for us?
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a recognised equivalent qualification in a relevant human services discipline.
- Minimum three years' experience delivering trauma-informed practice in child protection, out of home care, child and family services or a related field.
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Families (TCIF) certification, or willingness to work towards certification.
- Demonstrated experience in therapeutic assessment, intervention and case coordination.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice approaches.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with children, young people, families and carers to achieve positive outcomes.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously while exercising sound professional judgement.
- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
- Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain one.
- Highly desirable: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience applying frameworks such as CARE, Hope and Healing, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention or other trauma-informed practice models.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

This position will involve:

What makes a difference for us?
Working with young people in residential care who have complex and challenging needs will require a calm and non-judgemental nature, ideally you will have the following:
Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or Minimum Cert IV in Human Services, Community Services, Youth Services or related field
Experience incorporating the six CARE Principals when supporting Children and Young People, or reflection on how you would incorporate these into your practice
Hope and Healing Training or be willing to undertake this
A solid understanding of the child protection system as well as having a strong therapeutic background would be highly advantageous
Availability to work in a 24hr roster system
Ability to build strong relationships with young people
Current Blue Card (Working with Children), First Aid & CPR and QLD Driver Licence
Must also be willing to undergo a personal history check under the provision of the Child Protection Act 1999 in relation to Licensing of Care Services (LCS2 screening check)

We’re looking for a skilled Program Analyst, Elder Abuse Prevention, to support our Older Persons Programs and contribute to initiatives that address elder abuse, social isolation, scams targeting older people, and issues impacting grandparents raising grandchildren. In this rewarding role, you'll combine research, data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement to help improve outcomes for older Australians.
Reporting to the Local Service Manager, you will:
Analyse and interpret complex data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
Develop reports, statistical profiles, presentations, and recommendations that inform strategic decision-making.
Coordinate data collection, quality assurance, and reporting activities across Older Persons Programs.
Lead data analysis and reporting for organisational, contractual, and public-facing reports.
Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to improve outcomes for older people.
Support community education and awareness activities focused on elder abuse prevention and healthy ageing.
Provide specialist advice and referral guidance relating to elder abuse, social isolation, scams, and other issues affecting older people and their families.
What makes a difference for us?
A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Community Services, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience using statistical software, including Stata, and data visualisation tools.
Strong research, data analysis, and reporting skills.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports and delivering presentations.
The ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
A collaborative approach and proven ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.

The NQ Safe Program is a 24/7 Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) telephone service supporting people across North Queensland.
The Practice Lead will coordinate high-quality support to clients by providing specialist domestic and family violence expertise, practice leadership, and guidance to staff across the NQ Safe program. In this pivotal role, you will identify and manage risk from both client and organisational perspectives, leading the development of effective safety planning and response strategies.
You will lead best practice across the program through a range of platforms, including reflective practice, case reviews, development of processes and practice guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist domestic and family violence (DFV) practice leadership, advice, and risk assessment support across the NQ Safe program.
Partner with the Service Leader to coach and mentor practitioners, enhancing their capability to engage clients and effectively assess, monitor, and minimise risk.
Develop and implement DFV risk assessment tools, frameworks, and resources, and build practitioner capability through training and coaching.
Develop and strengthen partnerships, referral pathways, and networks to support positive client outcomes.
Oversee quality practice standards, client records, reporting, and compliance requirements.
Contribute to service innovation, continuous improvement, and the implementation of contemporary DFV best practice.
What makes a difference for us?
A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services or a related discipline
Minimum five years' experience in the human services sector, including specialist domestic and family violence practice.
Demonstrated leadership, supervision, coaching, or mentoring experience.
Strong knowledge of DFV risk assessment, safety planning, and evidence-based interventions.
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse communities will be highly regarded.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
Current Queensland Drivers Licence.

Managed by UnitingCare Homelessness Service, our dedicated team provide short term/crisis supported accommodation to families who are experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness.
This role will assist with the provision of service to our clients by providing families with the necessary tools and skills required for independent living as well as co-ordinate and supervise activities for all ages to promote healthy socialisation and community spirit.

Experience in the production of activities that enhance confidence, self-esteem and life skills.
An ability to align activities with individual case plans to support each person's development goals
Demonstrated ability to identify areas of current or potential risk, particularly in relation to ensuring the safety of clients, staff, volunteers and other community members.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills including negotiation, de-escalation and conflict resolution skills.
A creative approach to design inclusive programs that provide enriching experiences and foster a positive environment for participants.

Your part in our UnitingCare team
We are currently seeking to appoint a Family Counsellor to work as a part of our UnitingCare Family and Relationship Service based at Bundaberg or Gympie.
In this role you will:
Provide individual, couple and group counselling and education with an aim to strengthen family relationships
Prevent breakdown and ensure the wellbeing and safety of children and adults who live in all kinds of families.
Essential to the role is:
Sound knowledge of and/or demonstrated ability to provide counselling and related services within a therapeutic context to a range of clients with issues including, but not limited to, domestic and family violence, sexual abuse, child abuse, relationship discord and grief and loss.
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, oral and written communication and advocacy skills are required along with a proven ability to work co-operatively within a multi-disciplinary team in a complex human services environment.
What makes a difference for us?
Possession of a Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution coupled with prior experience.

Your part in our UnitingCare team
This role is responsible for providing services to vulnerable children, young people, and families within the Family Intervention Service (FIS), with an emphasis on delivering high-quality, best-practice services.
This position provides:
A holistic and therapeutic response to the needs of families and individuals, that are involved in the child protection system.
Provide intensive support to help children and young people safely reunify with their families following out-of-home care, or work alongside parents under an Intervention with Parental Agreement to address child protection concerns and support children to remain safely at home.
This is a home-based intervention role and includes case management responsibilities as well as therapeutic intervention skills.
What you'll bring
A tertiary qualification (minimum of a bachelor's degree) in a relevant human services field, with relevant experience in previous roles. Registration with a nationally recognised professional body is desirable where relevant.
Demonstrated skills and sound knowledge gained through experience working with children and families
Be able to achieve results through personal proficiency and demonstrate high-quality technical or professional work
Experience in the area of child protection is preferred but not essential
