This is a permanent full-time role based in Hornsby and requires the incumbent to be office based for the first 6 months. After successful completion of the probation period, there will be an option to work from home.
About the Role
As a Program Manager, you'll provide day-to-day practice leadership to a team supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness and housing instability, often facing intersecting challenges including mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues, family violence, and other complex needs.
You'll bring your specialist knowledge to complex situations, helping the team develop practical, person-centered responses that build stability, safety and wellbeing.
You will work closely alongside other Program Managers within our Homelessness portfolio. Through collaboration, shared leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement, you will contribute to the development of best practice approaches that support high-quality service delivery for people experiencing homelessness and complex, intersecting needs.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you'll help connect people with the right services and strengthen pathways across the homelessness, mental health and community services sectors. You'll also play an important role in building a positive team culture where Caseworkers feel supported, challenged and confident in their practice.
What You'll Do
- Lead, supervise and mentor a team of 7 Caseworkers, including providing clinical/practice supervision.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of our drop-in centre, supporting high-quality service delivery, positive client outcomes, continuous improvement and a safe, inclusive environment for all visitors.
- Provide specialist guidance and support around complex homelessness and mental health presentations.
- Support the team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed and strengths-based casework.
- Work alongside Caseworkers to develop practical interventions that improve housing stability, wellbeing and client outcomes.
- Build strong referral pathways and relationships across homelessness, mental health, health and community services.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with government and non-government organisations.
- Support the team with risk assessment, crisis response and complex decision-making.
- Promote reflective practice, professional development and continuous improvement.
- Ensure practice aligns with program requirements and the Human Services Outcomes Framework.
- Monitor and report on outcomes to ensure the service is achieving meaningful results.
- Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who combines strong people leadership with genuine specialist knowledge of homelessness and mental health.
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a related discipline.
- Experience leading, supervising or providing practice/clinical leadership to a team.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience working within the homelessness and/or mental health sectors.
- Experience supporting people experiencing complex and intersecting challenges.
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practice.
