About the role
The permanent part-time (up to 0.8 FTE / 32 hours per week) role ofStaff Specialist Palliative Careworks within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure that the Braeside Hospital Palliative Care service functions in a way that aligns with the Mission, Vision and Mission-in-Action of HammondCare and ensures that the medical and other care provided to patients is of high quality.
HammondCare is a NSW Health-affiliated organisation all NSW Health transferrable entitlements will be recognised.
Duties include:
- Provide demonstrably high-quality specialist Palliative Care services to patients in the South-West Sydney Local Government Area
- To maintain personal professional competence in Palliative Care
- To work within healthcare teams and with other senior medical staff in a cooperative and collegiate way, evidencing the Mission, Motivation and Mission-in-Action of HammondCare
- Undertake teaching of medical students and trainee doctors and undertake research in Palliative Care as opportunities present.
About you
- Registered (or registerable) as a Specialist Medical Practitioner in Palliative Care Medicine in Australia (AHPRA)
- FRACP or FAChPM or equivalent Consultant qualification.
- Credentialed experience in multidisciplinary specialist practice in inpatient, consultative, clinic and community settings
- Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team
- Organisational ability, both personal organisation and ability to supervise
- Willingness to participate in teaching and research projects
- Current Driver's Licence
- Research Qualification (desirable)

Position details
The Team:
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre.
The Emergency Department (ED) provides a tertiary level service for people with illness or injury 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Our busy ED provides care for >75,000 patients annually with an admission rate of more than 35% and a paediatric case load of 20%.
The RHH ED has a co-located Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) which is a short stay ward for patients requiring a brief hospital stay (generally less than 24 hours). The EMU has 24 short-stay beds operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a high turnover ward environment and a variety of clinical presentations.
The Role:
As a Registered Nurse (RN) within the RHH ED, you’ll work alongside more than 500 dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team members.
The Tasmanian Health Service (THS) is expanding to meet the needs of our community. The ED is undergoing a re-development to provide purpose-built facilities to meet our patient’s needs.
The ED is progressing toward the establishment of separate workforces for the ED and the Emergency Medical Unit (EMU/Short Stay). Recruitment through this process may allow for allocation to EMU only. Appointment to EMU requires a minimum of 12 months relevant experience. Applicants seeking to be considered exclusively for an EMU position should clearly indicate this preference in their 1–2 page statement.
You will need:
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence based practice in the practice setting.
- Ability to undertake patient/client education in the practice setting, together with a commitment to participate in ongoing professional development.
- Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice.

Details of appointment:
Multiple Permanent, full time or part time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering high-quality clinical care to critically ill patients across the Lyell McEwin ICU, managing a diverse and clinically challenging case mix

- Provide court-ordered psychological reports and expert opinions
- Deliver consultation and support to broader multidisciplinary mental health services and justice partners.
- Work collaboratively with a skilled and supportive statewide team.

You will need
We’re looking for a motivated and skilled psychologist who:
- High level demonstrated knowledge of contemporary clinical psychological practice especially as they relate within a forensic setting.
- Has experience in evidence-based risk assessments, working with complex risk presentations, and intervention treatment models with complex populations (e.g., CBT, DBT, Schema, EMDR)
- Holds clinical or forensic endorsement (preferred but not required)
- Has strong assessment, formulation, and report writing skills.
- Enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams and values professional collaboration.
- High level consultation, liaison and negotiation skills including experience in developing collaborative working relationships with other service providers to ensure best client outcome.

The team
Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will contribute specialist expertise to the ongoing development of ADHD services while helping strengthen connections between primary and specialist care. The team will also include a specialist paediatrician and an ADHD Clinical Nurse Consultant. The role offers the opportunity to make a visible and lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of communities across Northern Tasmania through direct patient care and service improvement initiatives.
Offered at 22 hours per fortnight, this position provides flexibility for a portfolio career, enabling the successful candidate to maintain community practice and other professional interests while contributing to a growing specialist service. Funding is secured for the full term of the appointment through to 30 June 2028, but shorter terms would be considered as would fractional appointments.

The Adolescent Medicine department at the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN) is seeking Staff Specialists to join their team across both sites at SCHN as follows:

What you'll be doing
The CICADA Drug and Alcohol Staff Specialist position within the SCHN Department of Adolescent Medicine is responsible for assessment and management of children and adolescents presenting and referred to the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network CICADA Adolescent or Family Services. The position will provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary teams in these clinical areas at SCHN Westmead and Randwick, contribute to strategic planning, service development, teaching and research addressing parental substance use and/or adolescent drug and alcohol use. The staff specialist will work within a multidisciplinary model of care acknowledging the complex range of paediatric and adolescent health concerns, chronic conditions and psychosocial issues faced by children and adolescents affected by alcohol or other substance use.
CICADA Adolescent and Family Drug and Alcohol Services
The NSW CICADA Centre offers a lifespan approach to the Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by Drugs and Alcoholwithin the SCHN. The three clinical streams include; Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Service, Family Drug and Alcohol Service and Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Services. The Centre provides a statewide service and is based within the Department of Adolescent Medicine at both the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick. The Staff Specialist position provides specialist hospital drug and alcohol consult liaison, inpatient and outpatient assessment and treatment of children and adolescents.

Your part in our Buderim Hospital team
As part of our Orderly team, you will be responsible for assisting the nursing staff with the safe transfer, repositioning and mobilisation of patients and the setting up of the theatre equipment in preparation for procedures. In addition to this you will:
- Assist with the transport of patients to and from the ICU, ensuring patient safety during procedures and transfers and support with patient positioning, application of diathermy plate, suction etc.

About the Role
Do you want to commence your Intensive Care nursing career in a supportive, collaborative environment where you will receive diverse exposure to a range of clinical conditions and management of complex patients? St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne ICU are seeking enthusiastic, passionate & dedicated Registered Nurses wishing to join our team. Opportunities exist for the next intake of the Postgraduate Intensive Care Nursing stream.
You will be supported to learn in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment, where you will receive diverse exposure to a range of complex patient presentations & clinical conditions.
About the Program
SVHM ICU is in partnership with Deakin University (Burwood)
Deakin Semester 1 commences on Monday 8th February 2027
To participate in this program applicants must be successful in gaining employment at SVHM ICU to complete the clinical requirements
The SVHM ICU contract will be 0.8 EFT for a fixed-term 12 month period. Requests for higher FTE is negotiable. Rotating roster pattern, including 8 hour AM and PM shifts, and 10 hour night duty shifts
Successful candidates are then required to enrol into the Graduate Certificate of Intensive Care Nursing with Deakin University (Burwood) to complete the academic requirements.
To fulfil the employment contract with SVHM ICU, students must be enrolled in the Graduate Certificate of Intensive Care Nursing with Deakin University (Burwood) for the full 1 year period.
Progression to Semester 2 and continuation of employment within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is conditional upon the successful completion of all required academic and clinical components of Semester 1.
Post successful completion of the Postgraduate year, potential ongoing employment opportunities within the ICU will be discussed.
Classifications for this position will range from YP4-YP9 ($86,684 - $104,379 per annum).
Selection criteria
Applicants must hold current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse without conditions
Applicants must have completed a minimum of 2 years nursing practice working in an acute care setting in a tertiary hospital (inclusive of graduate nurse year)
Applicants must meet the AHPRA standard on English language skills and have basic computer skills
Applicants must be willing to undergo a National Police Record Check prior to commencement of the program
Applicants must have professional indemnity insurance
Completion of SVHM PSP and/or TSP is favourable
Completion of SVHM’s Online 12 Lead ECG Course and/or Heart Starter Study Day, plus up-to-date ALS certification required for those who have not completed SVHM’s PSP and/or TSP

About SVHM - Intensive Care Unit
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) is a 19 bed environment (funded to 15 ICU equivalent beds) caring for patients requiring critical care. It accommodates elective and emergency surgical and medical patients.
The ICU admits deteriorating patients from the ward environment, Operating Theatre, Emergency Department plus external admissions from other metropolitan and rural hospitals via Adult Retrieval Victoria (ARV).
Postgraduate nursing students’ clinical requirements for the Graduate Certificate of Intensive Care Nursing (Deakin) are completed at SVHM ICU. Students are supported in providing one-to-one care to patients with a range of different requirements including: advanced haemodynamic monitoring, management of vasoactive and inotropic drugs, temporary pacing, external ventricular drains / Codman’s, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), invasive mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation (NIV), and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies (CRRT).

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) is an extended role within the scope of a Registered Nurse/Midwife that provides safe, compassionate, person-centred care to patients and families of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network
Acts as an appropriate and effective role model to promote culture and standards that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
Provides senior nursing clinical leadership in the development of specialist clinical practice and service delivery within a nursing unit, team or service.
Provides advanced skills and exercises extended autonomy of decision making while working closely with managers and other senior clinicians.
•Exercises extended autonomy of decision making;
•Exercises professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills.
•Undertakes leadership in the development of nursing specialty clinical practice service delivery in the ward/service; or
•Undertakes primary case management within a defined specialty involving both inpatient and community based services.
