The Director, Disability and Social Policy is a member of the Mental Health Branch Executive Team. The Director is responsible for the team that leads policy, programs, and system reform to improve mental health outcomes for highly vulnerable communities. The team oversees, leads and supports key initiatives with Health, Government and community partners across disability mental health, NDIS and psychosocial disability reform, multicultural mental health, and forensic and custodial mental health, while providing strategic leadership to ensure equitable and accessible mental health services across NSW.
The Director leads and manages provision of strategic management and policy guidance to the Executive Director, Mental Health Branch; Deputy Secretary, Health System Strategy and Patient Experience (HSSPE); Secretary for Health; Minister for Mental Health; and Minister for Health
Additional information1. This is a NSW Health internal EOI and decisions will be made upon review of all submissions. Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the Southern half of NSW. Surrounding the ACT on three sides and all the way down to the Victorian border, it extends from the pristine beaches of the NSW South Coast, the farmlands of the Southern Tablelands, across the picturesque Great Dividing Range and the spectacular Snowy Mountains. So much to explore in the Southern NSW region
The majestic Snowy Mountains, the sparkling Sapphire Coast, the verdant Yass Valley, the Great Dividing Range and the Southern Tablelands - all highlight the unique area that is the Southern NSW region. You'll find a thriving beef and dairy industry that began in the 1850s in Bega, the cheese capital of Australia. In Goulburn, the Big Merino is a symbol of the 200-year-old local wool industry.
Follow the oyster trail from Bermagui to Wonboyn; fish, surf and kayak in Bateman's Bay; spot platypus in Bombala; see the remnants of early pioneer life in Delegate; marvel at the Snowy Hydro dams in Cooma and Khancoban; visit the Mogo Zoo; ski, mountain bike or hike in Kosciuszko National Park; and pan for gold or pick some cherries in Young. Resident wildlife includes kangaroos, wallabies, possums, bandicoots, sea eagles, parrots, lyrebirds and wombats.

The Role
The CNE provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. The Role

The inventory nurse works with the speciality Nurse Unit Managers to manage stock levels within the allocated budget. The inventory nurse reports to the Nurse Manager Randwick Campus Operating Suite. Working in partnership with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders, the successful applicant will oversee patient flow and bed management, support clinical decision-making regarding admissions and discharges, and ensure services meet NSW Ministry of Health and SLHD performance expectations.
The role has responsibility for the effective operational management of the District's acute mental health wards and provides leadership to senior mental health nurses working across Emergency Departments.

Ideal Candidate
- Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Recent management experience with experience in leading and managing services in the relevant setting, supported by a relevant tertiary management qualification and/or work experience.

Where you'll be working
South East Regional Hospital (SERH) is part of the Bega Valley Health Service within the Southern Coastal Network. SERH is a 99 bed hospital and offers emergency medicine; surgery (orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, general surgery, ENT surgery, obstetrics); acute inpatient services including: fully staffed intensive care unit, subacute rehabilitation (SARU), paediatric, maternity and mental health beds; renal dialysis and oncology outpatient clinics; hospital in the home (HITH); pathology collection; pharmacy; and medical imaging (x-ray, CT and ultrasound).

What you'll be doing
Provide best practice evidence based clinical services to achieve quality patient outcomes.
Undertake supervision and education within the clinical environment of junior medical staff and other relevant staff to foster safe clinical practice
Utilise information systems to enable informed decision making and care planning.
Communicate with staff and clinicians to ensure quality and continuity of care.
Actively participate in risk management and quality programs to improve organisational processes and own practices.

Selection Criteria:
- Fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent overseas qualification either eligible for Expedited Specialist Pathway or the ANZCA Specialist Pathway
- Registered or eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated current clinical experience in Anaesthesia at an appropriate level.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance principles including the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and provide effective leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical research, simulation and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff; and effective communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. How to apply

- Current Registered Nurse Division 1 National Registration (AHPRA) with a minimum of 3 years post registration clinical experience working with children and young people, a post registration qualification related to the specialty area of child and family health, or paediatrics, or adolescent / youth health nursing practice, Primary Health Care (child and family health) or other related area or willing to obtain qualifications within six months.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with children and young people, including marginalised and at-risk groups, and health promotion, prevention and early intervention approaches and evidence based practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of primary health care practice, specifically within rural and remote Australian context.
- Demonstrated ability to work within an interagency context, with an emphasis on relationship building, service delivery, quality of care and team cohesion, referrals and an ability to identify and improve opportunities to enhance integration of care for children, young people and families.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including advanced verbal and written skills; an ability to negotiate and problem solve; and the capacity to collaborate with and influence health and other professionals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise electronic communication and medical record systems across a variety of applications, including eHealth technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the provision and development of clinical practice by utilisation of evidence based research with a demonstrated understanding of current NSW Ministry of Health Policies and National and State Standards in relation to children and young people.
- Current NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) and willingness to use for work purposes.

This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2026_004).
You may be subject to a probationary period of six months from the date of appointment to this position.
