About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2, you’ll provide high-quality, evidence-based care to clients accessing Drug & Alcohol services across inpatient and outpatient settings.
You will:
- Provide comprehensive assessment, care planning and clinical interventions.
- Support clients through prevention, treatment, recovery and relapse prevention.
- Build strong therapeutic relationships with people experiencing complex needs.
- Work closely with CNCs, Medical Officers, Aboriginal Health Workers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Mentor and support colleagues while contributing specialist clinical knowledge.
- Contribute to quality improvement and the ongoing development of Drug & Alcohol services.

NSW Health Pathology's Forensic Medicine service is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to join our specialised multidisciplinary team. This is a unique opportunity to apply advanced clinical nursing expertise within a forensic environment that supports coronial investigations, natural cause of death pathways, non-coronial examinations, and complex stakeholder engagement across health, legal and regulatory systems.
As a CNC, you will provide clinical consultation, leadership, education, care coordination and service improvement activities while working collaboratively with forensic pathologists, career medical officers, social workers, forensic mortuary technicians, case coordinators, radiographers and external stakeholders across NSW.

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. Selection Criteria
- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse/ Midwife.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse that applies to an Endoscopy Unit clinical setting
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and be able to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Current computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement person-centred practice.
- Demonstrated application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload.

About the Opportunity
Join a supportive and welcoming team at Muswellbrook Hospital, where you'll have the opportunity to expand your career, develop specialist clinical skills and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients across the Upper Hunter region. As a Casual Registered Nurse within our Dialysis and Infusion Services, you'll work across a diverse and rewarding clinical environment. Our Dialysis Unit is a six-chair service operating six days per week (Monday to Saturday), while our four-chair Infusion Unit provides treatment services on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Depending on your previous experience and service requirements, there may also be opportunities to work across other areas of the hospital, providing valuable exposure to a broad range of clinical settings.
At Muswellbrook Hospital, you'll be supported to build your confidence and specialist knowledge from day one. Dialysis orientation includes two weeks of dedicated training at either Maitland or John Hunter Hospital Dialysis Units alongside the Dialysis Educator, followed by supported shifts and orientation within the Muswellbrook service. Ongoing support is provided by the Dialysis Clinical Nurse Educator, Muswellbrook Clinical Nurse Educator team and Clinical Nurse Manager. For nurses working within the Infusion Unit, orientation includes two weeks at Tamworth Oncology Unit with the District Cancer Services Educator, followed by local orientation and ongoing support from our Oncology Educator. Additional support is available through the Cancer Care Coordinator, Muswellbrook Clinical Nurse Manager and the broader Cancer Services team. As a rural facility, Muswellbrook Hospital also benefits from access to medical officer support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring a collaborative and well-supported clinical environment.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred care to patients receiving haemodialysis and infusion therapies while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver safe, effective and compassionate nursing care.
- Advocate for patients and support positive health outcomes.
- Monitor, assess and respond to changes in patient conditions.
- Administer treatments and therapies in accordance with clinical protocols and best practice standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members.
