Congress is seeking an experienced Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychologist to join the Child, Youth and Assessment & Treatment Service (CYATS) team in Alice Springs/Mparntwe.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessment and clinical recommendations for Aboriginal children and young people experiencing a range of neurodevelopmental disorders and complex conditions.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessment, diagnosis and intervention planning across conditions including Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
The CYATS team is expanding its capacity to provide services remotely, providing an opportunity for clinicians to work across both Alice Springs and surrounding remote communities.
About the Team:You will work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team including:
Neuropsychologists
Occupational Therapists
Speech Pathologists
Aboriginal Family Support Workers
Clinical Case Coordinators
Senior Management and Team Leaders
The team works closely with Paediatricians and other medical specialists from Alice Springs Hospital, as well as allied health professionals across Government community health services.
You will also have access to specialised training and resources relating to FASD assessment and diagnosis through partnerships with external providers and research organisations.
Key Responsibilities:Manage a complex caseload, providing evidence based and culturally safe neuropsychological assessment and treatment recommendations.
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic neuropsychological assessments for children and young people.
Prepare high quality multidisciplinary diagnostic reports and recommendations, including reports supporting NDIS access where applicable.
Contribute to clinical case formulation and intervention planning.
Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and collaborative care planning.
Apply contemporary clinical practice standards and culturally responsive approaches to Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing.
Provide clinical supervision to less experienced practitioners when required.
Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records.
Work autonomously while actively contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A Master's degree or higher in Clinical Neuropsychology.
Full AHPRA registration with Clinical Neuropsychology endorsement.
Demonstrated experience in diagnostic neuropsychological assessment, case formulation and behavioural intervention.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong neuropsychological report writing and clinical recommendation skills.
An understanding of Aboriginal culture, cultural sensitivities and issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
A commitment to culturally safe and respectful clinical practice.
The ability and willingness to travel to remote locations, including occasional overnight stays and travel by 4WD where required.
Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, young people or families.
Knowledge of NDIS processes.
Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

- Hours are flexible. Full-time or part-time, and every Friday finishes at 2:30 pm
- Providing evidence-based adult physiotherapy across musculoskeletal, neurological, chronic condition and disability caseloads
- Completing assessments, treatment planning, progress reviews, and assistive technology assessments
- Producing high-quality clinical documentation and NDIS reports within required timeframes
- Working collaboratively with clients, families, GPs, support coordinators, and other allied health professionals
- Managing your own caseload, with support from our scheduling and admin team
- Travelling to regional and remote NT communities on planned outreach trips - genuinely meaningful work with real impact

About the Role
As the Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will provide specialist mental health assessment, intervention and therapeutic support to children aged 5-11 years and their families. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-informed psychological interventions that promote children's wellbeing, resilience, healthy development and family functioning. You will provide clinical supervision, consultation and practice guidance to multidisciplinary team members, supporting high-quality service delivery, reflective practice and positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive mental health assessment, intervention and support to children aged 5-11 years and their families.
- Deliver a range of age-appropriate, evidence-informed psychological interventions to children aged 5-11 years and their families, supporting mental health, emotional wellbeing, healthy development, resilience and positive family relationships.
- Support parents and carers to strengthen family relationships and build their capacity to respond to their children's developmental, emotional and mental health needs.
- Provide clinical consultation, supervision, specialist advice and therapeutic recommendations to multidisciplinary team members to inform assessment, intervention planning and service delivery.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including schools, health services and community partners.
- Ensure services are welcoming, accessible, culturally responsive, child-safe and inclusive.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, care planning and service coordination activities.
- Actively engage in clinical supervision, reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain high-quality clinical documentation, outcome measurement and reporting.
- Deliver services in accordance with the SPARK Model of Care, organisational policies and relevant legislative requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or another relevant discipline.
- Registration or accreditation with the relevant professional body (AHPRA, AASW, ACA, PACFA or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic, mental health or wellbeing support to children and families.
- Sound knowledge of child development, attachment, child mental health and family systems practice.
- Experience delivering evidence-informed psychological interventions with children and families.
