CYATS is part of the Child, Youth and Family Services Division and provides specialist multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and early intervention for children and young people. You'll work alongside Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Neuropsychologists, Aboriginal Family Support Workers and Clinical Case Coordinators.
About the Role:As a Speech Pathologist within CYATS, you will support children and young people aged 0-18 and their families to optimise development and wellbeing.
You will:Conduct speech, language and developmental assessments and observations
Provide evidence-based intervention, strategies and intensive support
Manage a clinical caseload involving assessment and treatment
Support children experiencing FASD, Autism, ADHD and other developmental challenges
Provide education and practical strategies to families, carers, support staff and external partners
Participate in case coordination and care plan reviews
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external services
Provide outreach support to children and families
Prepare clinical reports and contribute to coordinated care
Degree in Speech Pathology with eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
Relevant postgraduate experience working with children and families presenting with complex needs
Experience in assessment and intervention across childhood disabilities and developmental challenges
Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team
Strong understanding of Aboriginal health, culture and the issues impacting Aboriginal children and families
Knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) requirements
Current NT Driver Licence or ability to obtain
Postgraduate qualifications in child health/development and experience working with Aboriginal communities in Central Australia will be highly regarded.

Your Role as Mental Health Clinician - Mental Health Multidisciplinary Team:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will provide assessment, brief intervention, case management and coordinated care to adults with complex mental health needs. Working alongside GPs and a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and culturally safe support that empowers people on their recovery journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualised, recovery-oriented treatment plans in partnership with participants and their care team.
- Delivering evidence-based psychological and psychosocial interventions that support recovery, wellbeing and improved outcomes.
- Providing case management and care coordination for participants with complex mental health needs across their care journey.
- Partnering closely with GPs and other healthcare providers to deliver shared care, clinical consultation and coordinated support.
- Facilitating referrals and connect participants with appropriate health, community and support services.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated, person-centred, trauma-informed and culturally safe care.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records, manage risk and safety planning, and ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality standards.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a fixed term position until 30/06/2028. There are multiple vacancies for this role and both Part-Time and Full-Time applications will be considered.

Your part in our UnitingCare team
StandBy - Support After Suicide provides support to anyone bereaved or impacted by a death by suicide, including individuals, families, witnesses, first responders, workplaces and community groups.
StandBy offers free face-to-face and/or telephone support, and fully funded education and training to build community awareness and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing trauma informed, non-clinical support to a client bereaved by a death by suicide
- Participating in the delivery of workshops and training, and community events on issues related to suicide bereavement and the StandBy Service
- Record all necessary data and client case notes in accordance with StandBy policies and procedures
- Assist with planning the activities of the StandBy team and perform other duties as required by the Service Leader
As this rewarding role is in a specialist area, you will be provided with guidance and training through debriefing, external supervision, team meetings and professional development opportunities.
What makes a difference for us?
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated knowledge, practical experience and skill in critical incident response/psychological first aid
- Understanding of grief and bereavement through a trauma informed lens
- Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated awareness of reflective practice and self-care
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is desirable, however will be provided to successful applicant
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Reside within the Brisbane North or Brisbane SouthPHN
Only those who reside in the PHNs and meet the role requirements above will be considered.

Your Role as Mental Health Clinician - Mental Health Multidisciplinary Team:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will provide assessment, brief intervention, case management and coordinated care to adults with complex mental health needs. Working alongside GPs and a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and culturally safe support that empowers people on their recovery journey.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualised, recovery-oriented treatment plans in partnership with participants and their care team.
Delivering evidence-based psychological and psychosocial interventions that support recovery, wellbeing and improved outcomes.
Providing case management and care coordination for participants with complex mental health needs across their care journey.
Partnering closely with GPs and other healthcare providers to deliver shared care, clinical consultation and coordinated support.
Facilitating referrals and connect participants with appropriate health, community and support services.
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated, person-centred, trauma-informed and culturally safe care.
Maintaining accurate clinical records, manage risk and safety planning, and ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality standards.

What We’re Looking For
Qualified in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Mental Health Nursing or a related discipline.
Experience in supporting people with complex mental health needs through assessment, intervention and case management.
Skills in risk assessment, safety planning and evidence-based, recovery-focused practice.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to build strong relationships with clients, families, GPs and community partners.
Strong communication, time management and clinical documentation skills.
Commitment to delivering person-centred, trauma-informed and culturally safe care.
A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must-Have!
Experience working in primary care, shared care or general practice settings.
Knowledge of PHN-funded, stepped care or community mental health programs.
Experience supporting people transitioning from acute or hospital-based mental health services.
Connections with and understanding of First Nations, CALD, Pasifika and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Lived or living experience of mental health recovery.
Essential Requirements
