Position details
The Team
Join a supportive and multidisciplinary Community Mental Health team committed to delivering high-quality, recovery-focused care across the community. Working alongside experienced mental health professionals and community partners, you'll play an important role in supporting individuals, families and carers to achieve positive mental health outcomes.
The Role
As a Community Mental Health Nurse, you will provide specialist mental health assessment, treatment and care coordination for a designated client group within the community setting. Working collaboratively with consumers, families, health professionals and community services, you will deliver evidence-based care that supports recovery and promotes wellbeing. You will contribute to a positive team culture, participate in quality improvement activities, support learning and development, and help deliver safe, effective and person-centred mental health services.
You will need
- Current knowledge of and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal and ethical requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (ANMB) National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in mental health nursing including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting.
- Demonstrated written oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment, communicate effectively with other sectors of mental health services and primary health care providers.

Permanent, part time, day worker position working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary
$80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

The Team
Come be a part of the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS)!
CYMHS is in a period of significant growth that is increasing access to mental health care for Tasmanians. The Neurodevelopmental Assessment and Management Psychologist is a new role with scope to work across a variety of existing CYMHS programs delivering high-quality mental health assessments, interventions and outcomes for consumers and their communities. The role is part of a small unit based within the CYMHS Extended Programs, which include Out-of-Home Care Mental Health, Youth Forensic Mental Health and Youth Mental Health.
The Role
The Neurodevelopmental Assessment and Management Psychologist works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment undertaking a variety of evidence-based assessments across multiple CYMHS program areas. The role works closely with stakeholders, including consumers and their care teams, to understand presenting issues and develop and deliver appropriate treatment options. The role may also work with other mental health professionals, service providers, or other partners on research projects and quality improvement initiatives.
You will need
- Two years post registration supervised experience in a clinical area directly applicable to Child and Youth Mental Health Services, with demonstrated experience and skill in providing assessment and case management to children and adolescents with significant mental health challenges.
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience and skill in contemporary psychological practice with children and adolescents, including evidence-based assessments and therapeutic interventions.
- High level interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills including demonstrated experience in liaising effectively with other services and agencies in the context of providing specialised psychological mental health assessment, advice and training.

The Role
The Enrolled Nurse - Transition to Practice is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of safe,

- Current knowledge and understanding of the NMBA Enrolled Nurse Standards of Practice and the ability to apply these to the role and context of Transition to Practice Enrolled Nurse.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to maintain written documentation and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver person-centred nursing care in the practice setting that reflects the individualised needs of patients/clients and their families and evaluate care outcomes.

The paediatric team works closely as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellence in healthcare and achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian Community
The Role
- The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Mental Health Acute Paediatric Unit, will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering person centred, recovery orientated and trauma informed care, in accordance with the National Standards for Mental Health Services, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.
- The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:
- Works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager and the Paediatric Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care on a designated shift, based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
You will need to
- Deliver acute inpatient-based mental health care coordination to paediatric consumers of the service, which includes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, active, therapeutic engagement, monitoring and review of mental state and response to treatments, ongoing psychotherapeutic work using arrange of modalities and techniques, within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), with focus collaboration with family and carers and trauma informed care.
- Provide a high level of clinical knowledge and skill to ensure clinical standards and policies and procedures are met to promote a consumer-focused model of care, according to best practice principles.
- Assist the Nurse Unit Manager and the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with the management and coordination of resources as required.

The Team
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) are a tertiary level public multidisciplinary mental health service providing services to children and young people and their families living in the community with a mental illness.
The Role
Join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CYMHS) and play a key role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families across Southern Tasmania. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist assessment, treatment and case management services, while contributing to quality mental health outcomes and evidence-based care.
You will need
- Demonstrated experience in assessing and treating children and young people with mental health concerns, preferably with at least two years' post-graduate clinical experience
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and build relationships with families and external agencies
- A commitment to professional development, quality improvement, and delivering evidence-based, child-centred mental health care.

The Team
The CNC Patient Flow sits within the Integrated Operations Centre as a part of the Patient Flow Team at the Launceston General Hospital and works collaboratively to ensure the right person receives the right care in the most appropriate setting.
The Role
The CNC provides expert advice and leadership within an interdisciplinary team providing pathway development, patient assessment, care coordination and implementation of planned transfer of care to District Hospitals and Private Hospitals from within the clinical settings of the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) to enable care needs to be met in the most appropriate environment. This is a shift working position working day shifts 7 days a week.
You will need
- Provide an advanced level of professional clinical expertise in care management for the patient transferring care in both the acute and Primary Health settings.
- Provide advice and support to other members of the interdisciplinary teams; to ensure continuity of care for clients with complex care coordination needs.
- Support the Nursing Director Integrated Operations Cantre and the interdisciplinary team in the promotion of the Patient Flow Unit Team, including developing and maintaining strong communication links with the Health Care Professionals within the Agency and other key groups and consumers regarding supporting the needs of clients, their families and carers.

About the Role
The Nurturing Connections: Caregiver-Child Relationship Service in an exciting new Program within the NSLHD Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service. Purpose of the Position

The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.

The team will work with caregivers who are pregnant or caring for a child up to age 4. This is a new senior leadership role for an infant/child psychiatrist to join the NC team providing assessment, interventions and coordinated care for infants, children and their families/carers. The successful candidate will be primarily accountable for mental health services to infants and children under five years of age, and their families including parents experiencing non acute mental health difficulties.
The role includes collaboration with mental health clinicians; infant/child health clinician; peer worker and others within the NC service, clinical leadership through maintenance of service delivery, quality improvement activity directed towards increasing evidence-based practice and education, capacity-building and advocacy for infant/preschooler mental health.
This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained substantial specialist pathways, and Certificate of Advanced Training or Membership of the Faculty in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP). Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered.

- Skills in managing complex mental health problems in infants/children and families in a multidisciplinary context and advanced skills in consultation at the individual, group and service level
- Willingness to be involved in academic activities (teaching and research) and experience in teaching psychiatry to medical, nursing and allied health students/staff, psychiatry trainees and others as required and a willingness for ongoing involvement in such activities
- Skills in negotiating with a wide range of people and organisations including working with, and engaging consumers and carers
- Familiarity with quality improvement processes
- Current unrestricted NSW drivers’ license and willingness to travel across the LHD
