Be rewarded with up to $10,000 in the first 12 months PLUS up to $5,000 each year thereafter in fortnightly payments under the Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.*
Where You'll Be Working
At Muswellbrook Hospital, you'll find more than just your next nursing role-you'll find a team that's genuinely invested in your success.
As a Registered Nurse, you'll begin your journey in our General Ward, caring for a diverse mix of medical and surgical patients while building a strong clinical foundation. From there, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills across a range of specialty areas, including Emergency, Perioperative Services, Renal, and the Infusion Unit, with structured education and support every step of the way.
Whether you're passionate about emergency nursing, theatre, renal care or another specialty, we'll work with you to explore your interests and help create a pathway towards the career you want. We believe in growing our own talent and providing meaningful opportunities for nurses to broaden their experience without leaving their community.
Our team
Our team is known for its welcoming, collaborative culture, where everyone is supported to learn, ask questions and continue developing. You'll be backed by experienced Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Nurse Educators, supportive colleagues and 24/7 Medical Officer coverage, ensuring you always have the guidance you need to thrive.
About the Role
Working on a flexible rotating roster, you'll initially provide high-quality, patient-centred care within the General Ward before having the opportunity to expand your practice into other clinical areas, including:
- Emergency Department – Triage, resuscitation, acute care and outpatient services (minimum Year 2 RN).
- Perioperative Services – Theatre, Anaesthetics, PACU and Day Surgery.
- Renal Unit – Haemodialysis day services.
- Infusion Unit – Delivering specialised therapies including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products and iron infusions.
You'll work closely within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based care while developing confidence across a variety of clinical settings. Your transition into each specialty is supported through comprehensive orientation, supernumerary shifts, ongoing education, mentorship and regular professional development opportunities, giving you the confidence to build new skills throughout your career.
About You
We're looking for a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse who enjoys working collaboratively and is keen to continue learning and developing.
You will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Recent experience within an acute care setting. A willingness to develop skills across multiple clinical specialties within a rural hospital.
- Emergency nursing experience and current ALS certification (or willingness to obtain) is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive, adaptable and patient-focused approach to care.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality, holistic healthcare.
Previous experience in Perioperative Services, Renal or Infusion Nursing is desirable but not essential.
Benefits
At Hunter New England Health, you'll enjoy a career where you're challenged by rewarding work, supported to grow professionally, and surrounded by the lifestyle benefits of regional living.
Enjoy:
- Up to $10,000 in your first 12 months, plus up to $5,000 annually through the Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.*
- The opportunity to gain experience across multiple specialties while remaining in one supportive workplace
- The welcome experience to help you settle into your new lifestyle.
- A genuine culture of mentorship, learning and career progression.
- Sustainable Healthcare: Together Towards Zero.
- Monthly Allocated Days Off (full-time employees).
- Four weeks annual leave (pro rata for part-time employees).
- Paid parental leave (for eligible employees).
- Salary packaging of up to $11,600 plus novated leasing.
- Fitness Passport with discounted gym memberships for you and your family.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family.
If you're looking for a role where you'll be supported to discover your passion, expand your clinical skills and build a long-term nursing career, Muswellbrook Hospital offers the opportunity to do just that.
Additional Information
- Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions.
