About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Pharmacist to support Cardiology services within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN). You will have the opportunity to contribute to and develop the Cardiology services at SALHN while influencing service provision and patient care for patients with acute cardiac conditions and collaborate with key stakeholders in South Australia and nationally.
As a Senior Pharmacist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-focused pharmacy services within your designated area. You will provide expert medicines information and therapeutic advice to patients, medical and nursing staff, and other health professionals, exercising independent professional judgement to support safe, effective and evidence-based medication management. You will also lead the organisation and day-to-day operation of your pharmacy area, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure services are delivered in line with hospital policies, professional standards and best practice.
With a strong focus on improving patient outcomes, you will champion the quality use of medicines by identifying opportunities to enhance safety, effectiveness and value. You will bring your clinical expertise, initiative and sound professional judgement to developing and implementing strategies that support optimal pharmaceutical care, while contributing to a collaborative environment where excellence in pharmacy practice is valued. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to patients and the wider healthcare team through your expertise and leadership.
About You
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated pharmacy professional who brings strong hospital experience, confident leadership and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality pharmacy services.
- Qualified and experienced: Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent, registered or eligible for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, with extensive hospital pharmacy experience.
- A confident leader: Proven leadership, supervisory or management experience, with the ability to guide, educate and support professional and non-professional staff.
- A collaborative communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Focused on improvement: Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills, with experience developing and implementing strategies to improve service delivery and a sound knowledge of pharmacy standards and practice.

You will provide continuity of care across the full maternity journey, working to your full scope of practice, and enjoying professional autonomy & flexibility in the both the hospital and outpatient community setting.
Our supportive team have a structured rolling roster, all working part-time with a buddy, as known midwives for a shared caseload, in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, MAPS and Core Maternity Midwives.
What you'll be doing
This position works within a high quality Midwifery Continuity of Care Maternity Service at Port Macquarie Base Hospital (PMBH) in the Caseload Midwifery Group Practice (MGP).
Applicants will provide care to an annual caseload of 32 women per year.
Applicants must be prepared to work within a team of MGP Midwives, under flexible work hours and as part of an on call roster.
Applicants will work closely alongside the Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) and Continuity Base Team (CBT) allowing the three teams to achieve a ‘whole of service’ integration of Midwifery Continuity of Care at PMBH.
About You
You are a Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and demonstrate a high level of clinical competence across the full continuum of maternity care. Your skills and experience encompass antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, as well as lactation support and infant feeding, delivered in accordance with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council National Competency Standards for the Midwife (2018).
You are committed to the provision of women-centred care and have a genuine passion for Midwifery Continuity of Care, recognising the value of building therapeutic relationships and supporting women and their families throughout their maternity journey. Your practice reflects a strong commitment to evidence-based care, advocacy, and the delivery of safe, compassionate and culturally appropriate services.
You possess excellent time management and organisational skills, enabling you to effectively manage a diverse workload within a dynamic midwifery group practice model. You are flexible and able to work across varying hours to meet the needs of women, families and the service.
Your well-developed communication and interpersonal skills allow you to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams while fostering positive relationships with women, families and colleagues. You demonstrate sound problem-solving abilities, conflict resolution skills and the capacity to make informed decisions in complex clinical situations. In addition, you have strong computer literacy and keyboard skills, supporting accurate documentation and efficient use of electronic health systems.
You consistently exercise sound judgement, professionalism and discretion when managing confidential and sensitive information. You are also willing and able to utilise your own insured private vehicle and hold a current valid driver’s licence, enabling you to meet the operational requirements of a Midwifery Continuity of Care model and provide accessible, responsive care to women across the community.

About the role:
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, some of your duties for the role will include:
- Provide direct person-centred nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients on a shift-by-shift basis in a defined clinical area with increasing autonomy over time,
- Plan and coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies in providing individual health care needs,
- Assists and supports the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities,
- Participate in clinical auditing, clinical trials and/or evaluative research,
- Oversee the provision of nursing/midwifery care within a team/unit
About you:
- Ability to work within a team framework that fosters an environment that develops staff potential,
- Experience in evaluating the results of nursing research and integrating, where relevant, the results into nursing practice,
- Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the clinical setting,
- Clinical Nurse must have at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience,
- Clinical Nurse must have demonstrated competence in renal nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards

About the full-time program

Two days paid employment and approximately 25 hours study per week equates to a full-time commitment and a solid foundation for a nursing career.

Your new role:
The vision for nursing and midwifery at Sutherland hospital is to build a united team that provides compassionate care to our community through transformational, supportive and holistic nursing and midwifery.
The Clinical Nurse Educator provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator also provides clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
