An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Emergency Medicine Consultants to join West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG). Located approximately 100 km (1.5 hours) east of Melbourne, our 24-hour Emergency Department comprises 16 treatment spaces, including two resuscitation bays, and manages more than 27,000 presentations annually, with approximately 25% paediatric.
Consultants are rostered between 7.30 am and 11.00 pm, provide an after-hours on-call service, and work within a well-supported multidisciplinary team. Medical staffing includes Interns, Residents, GP Registrars, an accredited Emergency Medicine Registrar program and a 24/7 Medical Registrar. Additional specialist support is available on call from Physicians, Paediatricians, Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Surgeons and Anaesthetists.
Warragul Hospital's Emergency Department is accredited by ACEM for the six-month Rural and Remote Special Skills rotation for FACEM trainees. Supported by an experienced and proactive nursing team, the department offers a collaborative, patient-centred environment with a strong commitment to education and high-quality emergency care.
West Gippsland Healthcare Group provides acute medical, surgical, obstetric, emergency, community and aged care services across the Shire of Baw Baw. Required Skills and Experience
- Fellowship of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM).
- Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated experience managing adult and paediatric emergency presentations, including advanced resuscitation skills.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Undertake medical practice within approved credentialed scope of clinical practice as an Emergency Medicine specialist.

Bayside Health Peninsula, at present have 4 Nephrologists, 2 Nephrology Nurse Practitioners, 3 satellites haemodialysis units, a 4-chair acute dialysis unit, high level ICU services, acute vascular and chronic vascular services, comprehensive imaging and interventional radiology services, chronic haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis services, CKD education and CKD programme and comprehensive outpatient clinics (CKD, CKD education, HD, PD). There are regular histopathology sessions with a Renal Histopathologist and there is a weekly programme for CME and unit meetings.
Skills & Experience Required- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent

The opportunityReporting directly to the CEO, the Medical Director will serve as Access Aged Care's senior medical leader and principal medical advisor, providing executive clinical leadership, clinical governance oversight and strategic medical direction across the organisation.
Working closely with the CEO, Executive Team and Board, as well as the Practice Manager, Quality Manager and Clinical Leads, you will provide the medical leadership and assurance that underpins safe, high-quality and contemporary clinical care.

What you will influenceAs Medical Director, you will provide medical leadership across clinical quality, safety, risk and governance, including oversight of scope of practice, peer review and practitioner performance, and senior medical input into complex performance or disciplinary matters where required.
You will provide clinical governance oversight across critical domains including results follow-up, prescribing, recognition and management of deterioration, care transitions, telehealth safety, complaints and clinical incident closure.

You will bring current unrestricted AHPRA clinical registration and an appropriate recognised specialist Fellowship, together with substantial post-fellowship clinical and leadership experience.
Ideally, you will have experience across areas such as clinical governance, incident review, clinical audit, quality improvement, credentialling, virtual care and multidisciplinary healthcare delivery.
You will be comfortable advising CEOs, Executive teams and Boards and equally capable of building trusted relationships with clinicians and operational leaders.
