The Biobank Operations Manager will work closely with clinicians, researchers, clinical trials teams and external partners to support research programs and ensure biobank activities meet relevant ethical, regulatory and quality standards.
Major Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Biobank team, including workload allocation, staff development, performance support and fostering a positive team culture.
- Oversee day-to-day Biobank operations, including specimen collection, processing, storage, retrieval and dissemination across Biobank sites.
- Ensure quality, compliance and best practice, including adherence to SOPs, ethical and regulatory requirements, specimen handling, quality control and data management standards.
- Coordinate research and clinical trial support, including reviewing protocols, developing workflows and manuals, advising on specimen collection, and coordinating specimen dissemination.
- Plan and coordinate Biobank projects, including developing project plans, timelines, milestones and operational priorities.
- Monitor operational performance and manage risks, including workloads, turnaround times, backlogs, equipment, procurement and escalation of operational issues.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships with clinicians, clinical staff, researchers, Clinical Trials teams and external partners.
- Manage competing priorities and stakeholder requirements while ensuring Biobank objectives and service commitments are maintained.
- Drive continuous improvement, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, processes and service delivery.
- Lead or oversee operational improvement projects to strengthen Biobank capability and performance.
- Support the Head of Biospecimen Bank as required.

The role

What do we need from you?

- Tertiary qualifications in Nursing / Allied Health or a Health-related degree
- Desirable evidence of study and or qualifications in dementia
- Relevant professional registration or membership, where applicable to the candidate's discipline, is desirable.
- Demonstrated high level experience and knowledge in supporting older people and carers living with dementia, with particular emphasis on psycho-social approaches to case management
- Previous experience working at a senior level in a multi-disciplinary or multi-site environment including budgeting skills, systems thinking, IT systems experience

- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Monash Neurology is one of the largest provider of neurology patient care in Victoria and a state-wide designated endovascular clot retrieval centre. This unit sees over 2000 patients a year with a significant number of stroke patients. We have two concurrent stroke teams along with a neurology ward team and three consultation teams (Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital, and Casey Hospital). There is ample opportunity to rotate through various fields of neurology such as acute stroke management, multiple sclerosis, neurophysiology, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuro-degenerative diseases, neuro-otology, headache, and chronic neurology. Monash neurology also provide a large ambulatory services with a large number of EEG and EMG being performed providing excellent training opportunities. About the Role
There are 2.5 unaccredited neurology registrar positions available in 2027. This is supported by six core neurology advanced trainees. This will involve registrars rotating through stroke, neurology and consults. Trainees will be part of the call roster so will have vast clinical experience as well as ample research opportunities. Registrars will be expected to undertake a research project, with the aim of publication

About You
There is a strong focus on teamwork at Monash Neurology. Candidates should be passionate about neurology and demonstrate an interest in areas of acute and clinic patient management.
What you need:
Current registrations with AHPRA
Must have passed the FRACP written and clinical examination (or equivalent)
Had some experience in a previous neurology rotation as a registrar/resident
Previous experience in research
Working with Children's Certificate
Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
Current Drivers Licence
All candidates will require Australian working rights
