Covering a territory across Tasmania's Midlands region, from Launceston to Oatlands and Bothwell, this highly autonomous role combines field-based relationship management, crop monitoring, harvest coordination and strategic planning.
Spending the majority of your time in the field, you will work closely with growers throughout the entire growing cycle, from contracting and planting through to harvest and storage. - Monitor crop performance, quality and yield through regular field inspections, providing accurate forecasts and insights to support business planning.
- Coordinate planting, harvest, storage and delivery activities to ensure a reliable supply of potatoes for our manufacturing operations.
- Provide agronomic support and guidance to growers, helping optimise crop outcomes through best practice irrigation, nutrition, pest and disease management.
- Negotiate and manage grower contracts, maintain crop records and ensure compliance with contractual and operational requirements.

A key benefit of the RG SEM is the ability for trainees to:
- Remain employed by WACHS throughout approved primary care placements.
- Retain access to accrued leave and employment entitlements.
- Reduce the administrative burden associated with changing employers.
- Benefit from continuity and stability throughout training.
The RG SEM changes employment arrangements only. Participation in the trial will not alter a trainee's college training pathway, training requirements, assessment processes, or progression toward fellowship. Trainees will continue to meet all requirements of their respective training college.
The trial aims to reduce employment barriers, improve workforce stability, and encourage more medical practitioners to undertake and remain in rural and regional training pathways, ultimately supporting improved access to healthcare services for country communities across Western Australia.
About the Pool
The Registrar Trainee - Rural Generalist Single Employer Model (RG SEM) Trial Pool has been established to identify suitable Rural Generalist trainees registered with an approved rural generalist training college as a Rural Generalist trainee, for participation in the SEM Trial.
Successful applicants may be appointed to approved primary care (general practice or Aboriginal Medical Services) training placements and offered employment under the RG SEM for a period of up to 18 months, subject to training requirements and placement availability.
Participation in the pool does not guarantee placement. Suitable applicants will be placed in the pool and may be considered for appointment as primary care training placement opportunities become available.
This is an ongoing recruitment pool that invites expressions of interest from Rural Generalist trainees, with applications accepted and considered at predetermined intervals throughout the year.
Application Rounds
- October 2026
- April 2027
Please note that these dates are indicative only. WACHS reserves the right to amend, postpone, cancel, or introduce additional application rounds at its discretion.
Appointments may be made from this pool until 31 January 2028.
Important Information for Applicants
The RG SEM Trial applies to primary care (general practice or Aboriginal Medical Services) training placements only. Inpatient, emergency department, and other hospital-based rotations are not included under the RG SEM.
Participation in the RG SEM Trial does not replace existing recruitment processes for hospital-based positions. Trainees must continue to apply separately for WACHS hospital, emergency department, and other non-primary care training positions, as recruitment and appointment decisions for these positions remain the responsibility of the employing site.
WACHS reserves the right to amend, vary, suspend, or discontinue the RG SEM Trial at any time. The trial will be subject to ongoing review and evaluation, with modifications implemented as necessary to support service delivery requirements, workforce needs, and continuous improvement.
Applicants must hold General Registration with the Australian Medical Board.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have valid Australian work rights, including visa holders. Applicants must be able to maintain their work rights for the duration of the fixed-term appointment.
WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment on an applicant's integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour.
WA Health is committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination in the provision of our service. We embrace diversity and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities. WA Health supports flexible working practices within the context of a quality health service. WA Health is committed to a smoke free environment across all buildings, grounds and vehicles.
Please note this recruitment process requires completion of satisfactory Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA). Any offer of employment with WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is conditional on satisfactory PEHA to ensure you are able to perform the inherent requirements of the position. An unsatisfactory PEHA will result in the offer of employment being withdrawn. Please see the attached WACHS PEHA Policy for further information.

Practice meaningful medicine where it matters most
Imagine a role where your clinical work genuinely changes lives - not just one patient at a time, but across communities. In Alice Springs, Addiction Medicine is not a narrow subspecialty - it is integrated, complex, and deeply human, spanning hospital care, community engagement, youth services, and remote outreach across Central Australia.
You'll work at Alice Springs Hospital alongside a passionate multidisciplinary team, delivering care that crosses traditional boundaries. Your practice will include inpatient and consultation liaison services, supporting patients through withdrawal and complex admissions while guiding hospital teams in managing alcohol and other drug issues. You'll contribute to early engagement through ED inreach, and provide ongoing care through outpatient pharmacotherapy and community follow-up.
Beyond the hospital, your role extends into areas that are rarely part of metropolitan practice. You'll contribute to youth AOD services, supporting early intervention and care for young people, and play a role in managing volatile substance use presentations, including working within Northern Territory legislative frameworks. You'll also support services that reach into remote communities, delivering care where access and continuity truly matter.
This is a role where you are not just delivering care-you are shaping how care is delivered. You'll support and mentor junior doctors, contribute to service development, and help strengthen an integrated, region-wide Alcohol and Other Drugs service.
Life in Alice Springs
Living in Alice Springs offers something rare: space, connection, and perspective. Outside of work, you're surrounded by vast desert landscapes, dramatic ranges, and some of Australia's most iconic natural environments. Weekends might mean swimming in a gorge, hiking through ancient country, or simply enjoying a slower pace of life.
The town itself is a vibrant regional hub, with a strong arts scene, local food culture, and a welcoming community. Working here also means engaging with Aboriginal communities and cultures - an experience that brings purpose, challenge, and a deeper understanding of health and wellbeing.
What you'll find professionally
In Alice Springs, your practice will be broad and deeply rewarding. You'll see a wide spectrum of Addiction Medicine - from acute hospital care through to long-term community management, alongside work that includes youth services, complex social determinants, and legislated care environments.
You'll be supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to teach, mentor, and grow as a clinical leader. The work is varied, the clinical presentations are complex, and the impact is immediate and tangible.
You'll also benefit from a competitive NT specialist package, including regional and remote incentives, generous leave, funded professional development, and relocation support - ensuring your lifestyle matches the significance of your work.
Who this role suits
This role is ideal for an Addiction Medicine Specialist (or equivalent) who is looking for more than just a job - someone who values collaboration, embraces complexity, and is motivated by improving outcomes for diverse communities through culturally safe, patient-centred care.
