Wunan Health is a trusted, community-focused primary healthcare and well-being service in Kununurra, providing high-quality, culturally respectful supportive healthcare for the East Kimberley community and visitors. Together with Kununurra Withdrawal Intervention Centre (KWIC), an Allied Health program, headspace Kununurra and an Independent Advocacy Program, these services support individuals and families.
Our focus is simple - connecting people with the right care, support and services to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life across the East Kimberley.
About the PositionWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Medical Officer to join our supportive healthcare team in Kununurra, Western Australia. This role is essential in providing comprehensive primary healthcare at our private GP clinic, with a focus on culturally safe, patient centred care.
Responsibilities- Provide high-quality medical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of various health conditions inclusive to developing individualised chronic condition care plans and various health assessments
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the Clinical Director in participating in Continuous Quality Improvements, Workforce development and learning, and the strategic alignment of the Wunan Health Framework
- Engage with the local community to promote health education and preventive care initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor GP Registrars and medical students as required.
Employment package up to $445,000 inclusive of an attractive salary plus a range of benefits, including provision of housing and vehicle, relocation assistance, flights and more!
Qualifications- 3 years post fellowship as a General Practitioner
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Understanding of Aboriginal health and culturally safe practice in cross-cultural settings
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, teamwork, strategic and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
- Experience in rural or remote healthcare settings is advantageous

$1,076-$1,346 Annual Leave Loading (ALL)

- AHPRA registration
- Commitment to and experience with family-centred practice, and neurodiversity
- Strong time management, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with families, early childhood education and care settings, and schools
- Access to a comprehensively insured vehicle
- Working with Children Checkand NDIS worker screening check
- Experience working children with disabilities, developmental delay, autism and sensory needs in the home and community environments
- Familiarity with service systems, especially within the Sydney area
- Speak a second language
- Experience working children and families in the NDIS
- Experience developing and/or conducting workshops for parents
- Experience working with families who are from an Aboriginal or CALD background
- Experience in developing plans and goals with families
Family-centred practice is the gold standard in early childhood intervention services. We understand that each family is unique, and parents know their child's needs and abilities best.
Families spend the most amount of time with their child and are already making a big difference during everyday activities and routines. Children thrive in natural learning environments, such as the home and childcare, where they are part of the community. We work in partnership with families to provide the right support and positive outcomes.
We seek full or part-time staff available a minimum of 3 days/week to deliver quality family-centred support in partnership with families.
