What you will bring to the role

- Demonstrated experience providing consultation and sharing clinical expertise with teams in a way that builds the capacity of other professionals to enhance their service delivery, including the ability to translate knowledge to both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across inpatient and community settings, with advanced communication and interpersonal skills, to foster cooperative partnerships to support inclusive health care delivery for people with intellectual disabilities
- Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to work autonomously within a broad scope and manage a demanding workload with competing priorities with minimum direct clinical supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work within a recovery orientated framework, including collaborating with consumers, their families and carers, to achieve outcomes that support consumer's recovery

South East Regional Hospital (SERH) is part of the Bega Valley Health Service within the Southern Coastal Network. SERH is a 99 bed hospital and offers emergency medicine; surgery (orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology , general surgery, ENT surgery, obstetrics); acute inpatient services including fully staffed intensive care unit , subacute rehabilitation (SARU), paediatric, maternity and mental health beds; renal dialysis and oncology outpatient clinics; hospital in the home (HITH); pathology collection; pharmacy; and medical imaging (x-ray, CT and ultrasound).

Provide best practice evidence based clinical services to achieve quality patient outcomes.

Whatyou'llbe doing
In this senior hospitalist role, you will:
- Provide comprehensive medical assessment and management of patients across Emergency, inpatient wards, oncology,and infusion clinic.
- Work alongside GP ED VMOs to assess emergency presentations, stabilise and transfer admitted patients, and ensure high quality, safe clinical care.
- Undertake daily ward rounds, manage inpatients, lead discharge planning, and coordinate care pathways.
- Deliver basic and advanced resuscitation, arrange retrievals and referrals, and provide confident decision making in acute care settings
- Offer clinical oversight across the facility and provide leadership, supervision, and teaching to GP registrars, JMOs, and medical students.
- Participate in the on call roster and support other MLHD sites if credentialed.
- Contribute to high quality documentation, patient management planning, and use of clinical information systems.

Earn up to $247.30/hour (GP rate + practice rate), equating to $474,816 + super for eligible contracts (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks).
Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) Specialist
Earn up to $275.85/hour (Specialist rate + practice rate), equating to $529,632 + super for eligible contracts (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks).
Or progress to Senior Specialist VMO rates, earning up to $293.75/hour, which equates to $564,000 + super (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks).
Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) - Fee For Service & RDSP
Fee for Service and Rural Doctors Settlement Package (RDSP) arrangements follow the Visiting Medical Officer (State) Award and the Public Hospitals VMO Determination.
Payments are based on item numbers, service volumes, and rural loadings rather than a fixed hourly or annual figure.

About The Opportunity
COPILOT is a dynamic and exciting service that provides rapid access to multi-disciplinary geriatric assessment (medical, nursing, and allied health) for older people living in the community setting. Referral enables care to be implemented in the patient's home environment, whether that be in RACH's or their own homes, avoiding unnecessary transfer to hospital and leading to improved patient outcomes.
The COPILOT VMO will provide a high quality clinical service to older people and their families/carers to optimise health outcomes and support clients keeping well in the community. The VMO will provide comprehensive geriatric assessments and evidence-based care to clients residing in their own homes or nursing homes for acute care with the goal of avoiding unnecessary transfer to hospital.
The COPILOT VMO will need strong clinical leadership and decision making skills, have relevant clinical experience in the Aged Care speciality, and preferentially experience in providing community-based care both in a direct and virtual capacity. The position requires compliance with mandatory clinical administration duties, and participation in an on-call roster. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills, be efficient and have excellent time-management skills, and a willingness to join a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary district-wide service.

What You'll be doing
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care. This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the CE on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.

About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate Aboriginal Clinical Lead to join the Ngaliya Ngara Aboriginal Family Service within the Aboriginal Health Equity Program.
This specialist leadership role provides clinical and Cultural leadership, consultation, supervision and mentorship to support culturally safe, trauma-informed and evidence-based care for Aboriginal children, families, kin and carers. The role is integral to ensuring Aboriginal worldviews, knowledge and ways of working are embedded in clinical practice and service responses, supporting improved health equity outcomes for Aboriginal families.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Provide clinical and Cultural leadership, consultation, supervision and mentorship to staff working with Aboriginal children and families, supporting culturally safe and responsive practice.
- Provide specialist guidance in psychosocial assessment, child and family health assessment, case planning, therapeutic support and responses to complex clinical and psychosocial needs.
- Work directly with Aboriginal children, families, kin and carers who may experience barriers to engaging with mainstream health services, providing trauma-informed, culturally safe and family-centred support.
- Build strong partnerships with Aboriginal community leaders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, government agencies and other services supporting Aboriginal children and families.
- Take a clinical leadership and advocacy role in multidisciplinary and interagency collaboration, supporting coordinated responses for children and families with complex needs.
- Lead and contribute to service planning, continuous improvement, education and workforce capability initiatives that strengthen culturally safe service delivery and improve outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.
- Support the implementation of relevant NSW Child Health standards, service standards, policies and procedures, while promoting innovation, evidence-based practice and Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing.
- Holds the relevant qualifications and professional registration or eligibility for the applicable Social Work, Counselling or Nursing classification.
- Has extensive experience working with children and families with complex health, psychosocial and wellbeing needs, including assessment and therapeutic intervention.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of intergenerational trauma, colonisation and their ongoing impacts on Aboriginal families and communities.
- Has experience in clinical and Cultural leadership, supervision, consultation, mentoring and workforce development.
- Can build strong, respectful partnerships with Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and multidisciplinary and interagency partners.

What you'll be doingThe primary purpose of the position is to manage patients requiring intensive care, those at risk of clinical deterioration requiring intensive care, plus pre- and post-intensive care evaluation, whilst participating in the core training program of the College of Intensive Care Medicine.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience.
- Registered as a trainee with the College of Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent and completed or working towards completing the Primary examination. Evidence of training/competency in advanced life support.
- Previous experience in the critical care disciplines of intensive care or emergency medicine, with advanced airway skills from anaesthesia training in an equivalent (Tertiary) health care setting.
- Demonstrated interest and willingness to teach Junior Medical Staff and be involved in research projects and audits ongoing within the department.
- Evidence of completion of an introductory course to Intensive Care Medicine such as BASIC, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgment, expertise and demonstrated teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary team.
- Preparedness and ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
