Team Manager, Child Protection roles in Wimmera South West Area:
The Child Protection Team Manager is responsible for effective service delivery, managing resources and budget, cases awaiting allocation and small teams of practitioners. The Team Manager has the formal delegation to endorse and review case plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of children and young people and to promote the achievement of case plan objectives within specified timeframes. The transportation of children is a requirement of this role, as such a valid driver's licence and willingness to travel, including in country regions is essential. About the RoleThe Specialist Registrar plays a pivotal role in supporting the effective management and resolution of complex matters within VCAT's People's Rights and Responsibilities Division (PRRD). Working closely with Members, Practice Leads and Registry staff, you will provide expert legal, procedural and case management advice, ensuring matters are appropriately triaged, managed and progressed through the Tribunal. The role combines specialist legal expertise with delegated registrar powers to support efficient case management and improve access to justice. The role requires strong analytical skills, sound judgement and the ability to navigate complex legal and procedural issues. You will assess applications, identify key risks and issues, prepare briefs for Members, and provide advice on case progression pathways to support informed decision-making and hearing readiness. You will also contribute to VCAT's ongoing transformation by leveraging digital case management systems, operational data and technology-enabled processes to improve workflows, enhance service delivery and support continuous improvement.
Duties will include:
- providing expert legal and procedural advice on complex matters and case management issues
- triaging and managing applications, identifying appropriate pathways and ensuring matters progress efficiently
- preparing high-quality briefs and recommendations to support informed decision-making by Tribunal Members
