Someone who can bring people together, navigate complexity, and inspire others around a shared vision for supporting young people and their communities.
Essential Qualifications
You'll hold:
- Degree qualifications in Allied Health, Social Work, Behavioural or Social Sciences, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy or another relevant health-related discipline.
- Current professional registration, accreditation or membership relevant to your discipline, including AHPRA registration or AASW membership/eligibility where applicable.
You'll bring demonstrated experience in:

- Clinical governance, quality improvement, risk management and service evaluation.
- Contract, funding and operational management, including reporting against organisational and funding requirements.
- Developing and maintaining partnerships across health, community and government sectors.
- Using service and workforce data to drive performance, identify opportunities and improve outcomes.
- Delivering youth-focused and family-inclusive services within complex service environments.

- Youth participation, family-inclusive practice, cultural safety and community engagement.
- Delivering services aligned with the headspace Model Integrity Framework and associated reporting requirements.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have

- Experience working in rural, regional or remote communities.
- Knowledge of the challenges and opportunities impacting young people's health and wellbeing in regional Australia.
Why Join Youturn?
At Youturn, we're committed to creating safe, inclusive and supportive communities where people can thrive. Every day, our teams work alongside young people and families to create opportunities for healing, growth and connection.
This role offers the opportunity to:
- Lead the establishment and growth of a new headspace service.
- Build and develop a high-performing team.

Residential care is complex, fast-moving and incredibly important work.
As Team Manager - Care Services, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of one of Junction's residential care homes in Wodonga, leading the team of Residential Care Workers who support the young people living there.
This is a hands-on operational leadership role. You'll manage people, practice, risk, compliance and the everyday running of the house, while working closely with Case Managers and the broader care team to make sure each young person receives safe, consistent and trauma-informed care.
Some days will run to plan. Others won't.
You'll need to be comfortable making decisions, responding when things change, supporting staff through challenging situations and balancing the immediate needs of the house with the bigger picture for each young person.
If you enjoy being close to the work, developing people and creating structure in a complex environment, there's plenty of opportunity to make this role your own.
What does the day-to-day actually look like? There isn't really a "typical" day, but you can expect your role to include:
- Leading your team: providing formal and informal supervision, coaching staff, giving feedback, addressing practice issues and supporting professional development.
- Running the house: overseeing staffing, administrative requirements, house meetings and the practical day-to-day operations that keep the home functioning.
- Keeping an eye on risk: identifying and responding to risks relating to young people, staff and service delivery and making sure appropriate plans and safeguards are in place.
- Maintaining strong practice: making sure your team understands expectations and consistently delivers strengths-based, child-centred and therapeutic care.
- Working through the tough moments: supporting your team to respond to incidents, conflict, changing behaviours and other challenges that are part of working with young people with complex support needs.
- Keeping case plans moving: working closely with Case Managers and Residential Care Workers so agreed goals and strategies translate into what happens in the house every day.
- Making sure young people are heard: involving young people in house planning and decisions and ensuring their needs, goals and views remain central to their care.
- Bringing the right people together: liaising with families, Case Managers, government departments, health and education providers and other services.
- Staying on top of quality and compliance: maintaining records, monitoring practice and ensuring the house meets Junction's policies, care standards and legislative requirements.
- Stepping into direct care when needed: this is not a purely office-based management position. You may be required to work directly with young people or complete residential shifts when operationally required.
That last point is particularly worth being transparent about: the PD specifically requires the Team Manager to undertake direct care and, when required, work shifts across Junction's residential houses.
What you'll need A relevant Bachelor's degree is an essential requirement for this position. To be considered, you must hold a relevant Bachelor's degree, such as:
Social Work Community Services Disability or another relevant discipline
You'll also need:
- Demonstrated understanding of complex trauma and the developmental and therapeutic needs of young people requiring protective care
- The ability to lead, direct, support and develop both permanent and casual employees
- Confidence managing challenging situations and supporting teams through change
- Strong risk assessment and risk management capability
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to engage young people and staff empathetically and without judgement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
You don't need to pretend residential care is easy.
We're looking for someone who understands that good leadership in this environment means being present, consistent and accountable.
You can have difficult conversations when they're needed. You can support a staff member without avoiding performance issues. You can respond calmly when something doesn't go to plan, and you know when to escape an issue or ask for support.
Most importantly, you understand that the routines, decisions and culture within a residential house have a direct impact on the young people who live there.
About JunctionJunction Support Services is an award-winning regional not-for-profit organisation supporting around 2,500 people each year across 12 Local Government Areas in Ovens Murray, Goulburn, Gippsland and regional NSW. Team Manager - Care Services V2
Our work is underpinned by Respect, Collaboration, Innovation, Integrity, and Inclusion and Diversity, with trauma-informed, client-centred and goal-directed practice at the heart of our services.
Think this sounds like you?If you have the qualifications, experience and leadership skills to take responsibility for a residential care home and its team, we'd love to hear from you.
Junction Support Services is a child-safe organisation and an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from First Nations peoples, individuals with disability or lived experience of disability, and people of all cultural backgrounds, gender identities and sexual orientations. We value the unique perspectives and contributions that diversity brings to our workplace and the communities we serve.
